Have a look at the last 3 letters of the video you've imported to Windows Live Movie maker (WLMM).
That the last 3 letters represent the format of the video file. If the format is NOT supported by WLMM, he won't play it.

Here are the formats supported by WLMM:
Video files: .asf, .avi, .dvr-ms, .m1v, .mp2, .mp2v, .mpe, .mpeg, .mpg, .mpv2, .wm, and .wmv

If your video file format is not on the list above, google for a FREE video converter and it allows to convert your video file.
The best format to convert is WMV. The most reliable and foo-proof format.

  • Get corrupted in Windows Live Movie Maker

When I buy my files in Windows Live Movie Maker, many of them become corrupt before I can finish my film production.  It makes me upset!  I fight this with all the movies that I try to do.  I use a Sony Vaio VPCF121FX computer.  Are there problems of compatibility here?  I would like to understand this soon because I have about 6 months warranty left and I was wondering if there is something that can be done to solve this problem.

I have also problems with Windows Movie Maker 2.6 I switched to it in the hope that it works, but another pass.  What is the problem?

  • Files in duplicate locations and Windows Live Movie Maker is not opening

I think that I dragged accidentally the document library tab in the Video Library tab (in the tab on the left menu). My docs & files are now both. If I delete one, it removes both. If I create a new, it does so in both. How to cancel this please?

In addition, at the same time, Windows Live Movie Maker no longer opens.

Libraries actually do hold all the files or folders, they combine their in a view for easy navigation.  For example, my video library shows all the videos of three different hard disks, my roommate's computer records.  But I can see all the videos in one view combined with the library.

To change the folders that appear inside a library, just right-click on the name of the library and choose Properties.  Who let you out your video library documents.
In regards to the Movie Maker, it gives you an error message?

    Hi lingcod,.

    ·        What codec you have installed?

You can uninstall the codec programs & features & reinstall it back & check if the problem persists.

Unable to get sound when you import video clips (.m2ts) Cannon for Windows Live Movie Maker video recorder or on the video file (.wmv).  Does anyone have a suggestion as to how this can be done?

    Hi RichGraff,

    • You have sounds in the VCR of Canon?
    • Are you facing problem with this video or other videos as well?

For now, I suggest to import the video clip in Windows Movie Maker, which is an application integrated into Windows Vista and check if you get its in.

  • My .wlmp file will not open in Windows Live Movie Maker

I started a video project in Windows Live Movie Maker and saved the project in a .wlmp file because I wasn't quite finished editing. When I came back the next day to finish the editing, I opened the file and I saw yellow signs on the entire project, and he says that the files are missing, and I have no idea how it happened, or how to get back them. I spent hours to edit this video and I really want to do it again. Can someone please?

Were the source of origin (Photos, video clips, Audio files
clips, etc...) saved in a folder on your hard drive or have been
they have imported into Movie Maker, also...
online, network, CD, DVD, flash drive, card memory?

Movie Maker does not actually archive copies of the source
files... the WLMP file simply records the path to the original
locations. If the files are moved, renamed, deleted, damaged
or are otherwise inaccessible... can't find the WLMP file
    them.

If the source files are still available... it may be possible to
Right-click on the yellow icons, then access the current
    location and restore the path.
