Connection window Live Mail Hotmail problems
I have problems to connect to Windows Live Mail on the Hotmail account. I was wondering if anyone knows if this requires a paid subscription to Hotmail. Microsoft does not explain this.To configure the POP3/SMTP to Hotmail/MSN/Live.com access accounts in Windows Mail, use these settings:Make sure that all of your settings agree thereby. If you get an error message, do a right click on your error message, copy, then paste it into an answer here. We cannot do a lot of troubleshooting without the full error message. To give you a little history, Windows Mail does not support the HTTP messaging, which for a long time was the only authorized method of access for free Hotmail accounts. In addition, given that the development of Windows Mail was frozen in July 2006, there no knowledge that Microsoft has enabled POP access for free Hotmail/Live/MSN accounts in February 2009. Therefore, the Windows Mail Account Setup Wizard is hardcoded to reject the Hotmail and MSN addresses. To work around this limitation, when you enter your Hotmail/MSN email address, initially, use a fake domain, such as * address email is removed from the privacy *. After the account setup is complete, you can go back into the settings and correct your email address.Gary van, Microsoft MVP (Mail)

Virus / worm Central emails from hotmail account, send emails infected contacts
I write from my live account. Account hotmail to my mother received an infected email. He ruined his computer when it opened. She had her computer fixed and to create another account but hotmail is now send random messages to all contacts and that they contract. His story is * address email is removed from the privacy *. She doesn't want to go and can't seem to get help on the issue. He sends mulitple emails every day hundreds + contacts. He has now reached several family and friend's computers. What to do?
First of all, try to run full system scan in a system infected with:

In addition, ask your contact list to do NOT open the email from this account.
IF you still have access to this account then go, change password question and security.

Windows Live sends email from my other two accounts.
I have just set up today. I can send emails from my live.com address, but the other two addresses does not send. I checked out and they're correct server addresses. The error message is 'Server email address rejected '. But the address is good and receiving the e-mail from other sources.
You're in Hawaii and are connected to the Internet via RoadRunner? If not, it's why you get this error. Right-click on the account name in the folders pane, and then select Properties.
- Under the servers tab, make sure that my server requires authentication is selected.
- On the Advanced tab, make sure that the outgoing mail port is 587
Click work offline, and then empty the Outbox (below the records of account in the folders pane). Compose a new message to test and send it to yourself. Post a new message in your response.

How determine if a Windows Live team, send "Account Alert" is real or spam?
In the (not so distant) past, I received (and completely) ignored mail, I was unable to discern really came from the Windows Live team. They claim that they are overcrowded and eliminate people have hotmail email accounts and I was among the elect. I'm afraid that this may be spam comes from (1) the past, similar e-mail unanswered, I received I did not had any effect on my account remains open and active and (2) if they are in fact compensation on free accounts, why then contain a list of very personal information to be completed and returned to them? Can someone please help, because I don't want my account to be closed? Others receive similar emails? Any insight and answers are greatly appreciated.

How am I able to import emails from hotmail in Windows Outlook Express for Windows 98?
My grandfather is not familiar with Windows 98, I understand that it is a version absolete. It is impossible to access his e-mail from your Windows Live Hotmail account I would like to know how to import messages from a hotmail account in Outlook Express for Windows 98. For any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
Hello
To import contacts and email from Hotmail addresses in your Outlook Express address book:
- Set up access to your Hotmail account in Outlook Express.
- If you already have contacts in your address book Outlook Express for the current identity and want to make sure that you only import Hotmail contacts, create a new Outlook Express identity for the Hotmail account.
- Select Tools | Address book... from the menu in Outlook Express.
- Choose Tools | Synchronize now in the menu of the address book.
- If this choice is not available, make sure that you do not share contacts between Outlook Express and Outlook. Close and restart Outlook Express if you have made any changes to the contact sharing settings.
- To import the contacts in a program other than Outlook Express e-mail, export the address book from the current identity and use the import feature of your mail client to add contacts from the .csv file.
- Set up access to your Hotmail account in Outlook Express.
