Windows logon fails when network drive mapping

I can no longer map a network drive of my laptop Vista business to my PC (XP).   I enter a username/password valid name, but I still not unsuccessful logon.   I read a gazillion discussions and have made the change to the recommended without result SECPOL tool.

What makes me mad, it's this used to work!   I recently had to physically move the PC (renovation of the kitchen) and perhaps its something stupid like a missed connection.  Yet, I have access to the internet very well.  I can ping 192.168.0.3 192.168.0. * I'm confused comment.3 is affected. My tivo est.4 and I tested this connection and that's fine.

I even had a network printer set up works very well: Photosmart \\192.168.0.3\HP...

The only area involved is WORKGROUP.   I created an account "lapguest" on the PC specifically for this purpose

I forget some syntax?   The GUI said essentially the same thing.

C:\Users\Wendy>net use w: \\192.168.0.3\pcc * / USER: WORKGROUP\lapguest
Type the password for \\192.168.0.3\pcc:
86 the system error occurred.

The specified network password is not correct.

C:\Users\Wendy>net use w: \\192.168.0.3\pcc * /USER:\\192.168.0.3\lapguest
Type the password for \\192.168.0.3\pcc:
The context of the user provided is not valid.

More help is available by typing NET HELPMSG 3775.

I think its something stupid, I forgot, but he is elusive.     I also put the name of the computer in the 192.168.0.3 place, but it does not help.  There is no involved DNS.

Using the graphical interface, I can browse the network to find the folder to add, but there is nothing under the computer name of the computer.  "pcname" is not a valid host name.   Otherwise download "logon unsuccessful".   I tested the connection on the PC and it is certainly true.

In addition, I traced \\192.168.0.3\C$ successfully, but I got my LOCAL drive (portable) C.   ????  that should be a big clue, but call me clueless...

I even uninstalled mcafee (completely) just in case.  did ' t like it anyway so no biggie.

I know that there is a big DUH when this has been resolved.

Thanks Aaron, but I think I did it to her.

In the meantime, I decided to try sharing in the opposite direction.   Which made me respond finally that est.1 which est.2 whos.3.   A lot of listening to ipconfig.     What etait.3.2 is the last time.  (the est.2 PC and computer laptop est.3)  I still want to understand how these numbers are assigned.

I found the option - rr in my earlier review, but do not know if he had an impact.   Also reluctantly, I created an account with the same name on both systems to try.   First of all, I shared with who.    Later, I could share by using the account name that exists on the PC (lapguest).

I don't really know how the problem etait.2 et.3 mixup questions and/or syntax (file specification must be \\192.168.0.2\share-name) spec not \\PCNAME\share-name and the user must be PCNAME\username) and/or services and windows XP/VISTA problems.  Maybe my new sequence got something instantiated later.   Hope it sticks, whatever it is.   I wrote my orders exactly.  I hope that when I reboot or whether, I not have this problem again.

Ah-ah... before you sign this note, I went to test the laptop via the network printer I had previously put in place of a printed page.  It did not work.  I can't see why.  the specifications of the printer is Photosmart \\192.168.0.3\HP... which was fine before, but now it faudrait.2.  I'll have to add another printer network for the new address.  I hope I remember how to do this.

Now, I can clearly see the benefits of DNS.  Is there a simple way to create a name "servername" instead of having to depend on 192.168.0.n?

  • Windows 7 x 64-network drives mapped disappeared following updates

Since this morning, all network drives mapped our Organization have disappeared.  More than 85 users being affected.  By a process of elimination, we have reduced the problem to local machines running Windows 7 x 64.  We have also several PCs 10 Windows which are not affected.  We have also two PC of Windows 7 that have not activated the Windows updates, and both have no problems with the drive mappings.

We go through the deletion process of upgrades that were completed this morning (03:00).  I will provide an update as soon as we find the root cause.

Can we get some guidance as to a specific update that can affect the drive mappings?

    UPDATE 2 *.

We have solved this problem by uninstalling the following Windows updates:

    Update for Microsoft Windows (KB3139923)

    Update for Microsoft Windows (KB3140245)

    Update for Microsoft Windows (KB3162835)

Update of security for Microsoft Windows (KB3159398)
Update of security for Microsoft Windows (KB3161561)

(After removing these updates and reboot, it should also ask users to close the session and sign in again until the mapped drives returns.)

    Resolution

To resolve this problem, use the GPMC Group Policy (GPMC. MSC) and follow one of the following steps:

    • Add the authenticated users group with the permissions to read on the Group Policy object (GPO).

  • Windows 7 network drive mapping error: "error code: 0 x 80070035 the network path was not found."

I recently started getting an error when you try to access my network drive. Attempt to fix I have also disconnected the drive and tried to reconnect. I get the error: error code: 0 x 80070035 the network path was not found

I am able to map the drive of all the other machines in the hold of the House (Mac OS X, Windows XP, Windows Vista).  However, the Windows 7 machine continues to report the error.

I searched the internet for the microsoft Web site and answers and so far nobody seems to have an answer to the problem (and it seems to be a very common problem in Windows 7, based on the number of reports I've met in my search). I'm able to reach the reader through the IP address, but cannot connect in it (continues to re - ask for credentials and I checked the credentials I use are 100% correct).

The only significant event was the address IP changed on the remote disk. What that tells me, is that windows is not updated the name of the drive to the new IP address and confounds seriously on how to get the player passing the correct credentials.

I removed the protection against viruses (a suggestion said it was the cause), but it has no effect. Check my sharing permissions and so many different places that I could, but nothing has changed and all seems OK.

The problem is in Windows 7, but I don't know where all configurations "tricks" are on the (64 bit) OS - has been used for a 32-bit system. Where can I manually fix the DNS or DHCP parameter for the name of the drive?

    SOLUTION

It's a problem with Windows Explorer in Windows 7 do not resolve the computer name target to its IP address. It is not a problem with the firewall or antivirus.

There is a simple workaround solution.  Use the IP address of the target computer, not the computer name.

    (1) find IP address that the computer target is.  It is desirable to give a private static IP address to the target computer, for example, 192.168.1.10, so it does not change.  Use the local windows help when you sit in front of the target computer to do this, if you don't know how.

    (2) when you are sitting in front of the Windows 7 computer, you want to access the target computer, open Windows Explorer and in the address bar type------followed\\192.168.1.10 static address of the target computer, for example, and press enter

If the target computer uses the name of user and password sharing, after a few seconds, you will be prompted credentials.  Enter the same username and password used to log on the target computer when you're sitting in front of it.

The target computer will be added to the list of computer network Windows 7, appearing as an IP address instead of a computer name.  You can access his actions as if it was listed by name instead of the number.

    That's all.

  • Why my network drives mapped reconnect when disconnected from my laptop?

Whenever I have withdraw my machine it fails to reconnect to a network drive while you are using the wireless. It's quite strange, because if I anchor again it not is not even reconnect on LAN.

    Hi gabrielcervatiuc,

Connected and disconnected are two different hardware configurations.

Therefore, you use control different sets in the registry. You must configure the network drives in two configurations.

    Hope this information is useful.

  • Windows 7 saved shared network drive the forgot/lost password

I work with a small network of average office with windows about 20 computers all 7 and we have a computer of Windows 8, acting as a file server. all desktop computers are set to automatically connect and map network drives and save the password. Password not changed everyone was able to connect, except a single computer of users who suddenly asked the password on the server again. Given the same password correct, which I memorized by now, and everything was fine and yes I have checked the box to remember the password twice. Boss is not happy that computers does not...

all, but the server is wireless.

For starters, it is the file server password and not the wireless. Yes, I have just add it again, it has never happened to me before. But don't get started me on the wireless, in this building, there are some 30 different networks.

Problem is solved, but the cause is undetermined.

should I wait for that to happen on other computers 20 +? Or give the "password" for everyone.

  • How to record TV with Media Center (Windows 7) to a network drive?

Well, you would think that the new MediaCenter Windows 7 would live up to the recording of your TV for a network/player sharing. Nevermind, it seems that it is just not possible.

I have a windows 2008 R2 server and a Windows 7 machine with a TV card. Since my server has 2 TB of storage, it would be nice to save directly to a network drive. (I rode like Z :).

    I tried the following:

    1. By selecting Media Center itself: does not. Is not available.
    2. Editing the registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center\Service\Recording to RecordPath Z:\TV. Does not.
    3. Editing the registry: set RecordPath to \\server\TV. Does not.
    4. Create a symbolic link (mklink \D) of Z:\TV and \\server\TV with parameter in the registry under RecordPath.

I am currently out of options. I could of course install Windows7 on my server, but I have no license for this, and my windows 2008 r2 is free from dreamspark.

So: How is the world possible to make this work? And why not just MediaCenter detects my network sharing?

Record on the network is not supported.  The smallest hiccup of network could cause problems with registration, or even TV live as the recording buffer would be located at the remote location.

One thing you can do is to use Windows Home Server Power Pack 3 and its function of archive TV which you can configure to automatically move all your records or only those you want.
  • On the installer of Windows 7 backup to network drive, how to avoid the user name and password?

I have Windows 7 x 64 Pro on a PC to my home network 2-computer. Back up my files on a 1 GB network drive using outdated software. I would use the backup of Windows in the same way, but I'm stuck at the first step in backup: "what is my username and password?'." " I have no need to use either as well as single-user computers and log on automatically.

How can I convince backup W7 to accept that they are not needed? Otherwise how can I, with the status of administrator, either:

    2. If necessary, set up a new id and password without harming my Autologon class?

  • How is it, windows XP or Windows 7 cannot see network drive?

first of all, I have 5 computers.  Installed with Windows 7 installed with Vista and 1 2 3 MacBook Pro.  I created 1 network drive to more easily move files named "ShareMe.  All the protable can use the shared folder since I gave permission to everyone.  All the computer can use the network printer.  I installed Windows 7 on a Mac using VMware 2.0.5 and able to print using printer network with no problems.  I installed another Windows 7 on VMware Workstatin on a PC, and it can use the network also printer without any problems.

(Everything is legitimate and so far I just was not updated to 2.0.6 because I heard a lot of things to have a slow speed)

That is the problem, not an operating system that runs on VMware can't see my shared folder in the network, it cannot see networked host computer.   I speak not shared folder between VMware and the computer host.  Between the host and VMware are very well; However, I'm talking about that all shared folder the computer can see (folder ShareMe).

    Using NAT to network adapter

This is the problem because it puts the virtual machine on a separate subnet, then the one on the host is.  Past to open and release/renew IP on each virtual Machine.

Take a look at: Understanding Networking in VMware Fusion

Tip: With a Machine virtual Windows switch between NAT and connected by a bridge or visa versa, can be made without restarting, or even by using ipconfig to release/renew the IP address.  Simply toggle the State connected/disconnected from the network of the <...>Network icon on the status bar from the type of network between the two. It takes but a few seconds and a few clicks and is faster and easier the alternative methods.

    Hi roggabear,

I suggest to start in safe mode and check if the problem persists. To do so follow the steps described in the article below:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

If the issue does not occur in safe mode, you can try to clean boot and fix the problem:
