Windows lost after hard disk failure and Downgrade from Windows 7 key

I have a client with an Asus laptop that allowed a downgrade from Windows 8 for Windows 7.

After some time, the hard drive crashed, including the recovery partition.

I got a replacement hard drive recovery disks and OS and the driver, but do not have a Windows 7 key. I installed Windows 7, but I am now in the grace period of 30 days without activation. How can I retrieve the key used on the same machine?

Thank you very much

-Joe Sharit

If you lowered licensed Windows 8 Pro pre-installed, borrow a product key Windows 7 Professional, one on a COA sticker that is attached to a computer or a friend or relative members boxed license, activation of phone use.

Explain to the Appeals Officer that you are running downgrade rights.

How to activate Windows 7 manually (activate by phone)

1) click Start and in the search for box type: slui.exe 4

(2) press the ENTER"" key.

(3) select your "country" in the list.

(4) choose the option "activate phone".

(5) stay on the phone (do not select/press all options) and wait for a person to help you with the activation.

(6) explain your problem clearly to the support person.

  • Hard disk failure and recovery of the operating system

I have a model p6310f desktop that had a hard drive failure.  I bought an SSD and install.  I looked for a recovery disk; However, I have not found one.  I was told that the recovery disc is on the hard drive in a separate partition.  Is this really the case?  If so, how can I access the recovery if the hard drive is still not recognized?

Recovery media is available on your Support page. Scroll the list of the drivers/software to see the possibility of ordering.

Be aware that recovery discs do not always work on an SSD - if the capacity is much smaller than the original hard drive and SSD size wasn't an option initially offered on your model. You could make your own Windows 7 installation dvd in this case, as long as you have the intact lable on cases with license key. Let me know if you want to try this option.

Windows preinstalled - if you do not have the installation diskettes:

Contact the OEM computer manufacturer and ask them to send an installation for your computer disc. Contact information for the manufacturer of your computer can be found here:

  • How to install Win 8 on Satellite C850 after HARD drive failure?

I have a PC repair business and a customer gave me a portable Satellite C850-1 kN which took a catastrophic hard disk failure (just clicking from the road).

I replaced the hard drive and tried to boot from a DVD 8 Windows, changing the order of startup in the bios, however, it still gives an error message "no boot device."

I see no way to turn off boot UEFI, it appears grayed out in the configuration of the bios.

How can I reinstall Windows on this laptop?

First, you must know that the (CSM/UEFI mode) parameter must be changed if you want to install the system supported UEFI not (Win 7 and higher).
Win 8 and 8.1 Win are UEFI capable systems and you should be able to use the option to UEFI mode.

What about the secure boot option?
Have you found and have you tried to disable this option?

  • What to do after a disk failure hard when the latest version was an "Upgrade".

I recently had a hard drive failure and had to buy a new desktop PC Summit. I have the most recent version is the upgraded version of LR 6 (bought for download). My question is, can I just download this version on the new PC? Or do I have to go back and download the first 'full' version, I bought (LR 3) and then download the upgrade to LR6?

    Hi twoedmunds,

Just download Lightroom 6 on the new system and enter the serial number upgrade, once you enter the serial number upgrade, it will ask you to select the base product (Lightroom 3) and then apply the serial number for it, that's all you need to do.

See the download link for Lightroom 6:Install Photoshop Lightroom

Let us know if that helps.

    Kind regards

  • Hard drive failure and question graphic

    Hello

I use Vista 64 bit. When I start my PC I get an error stating "detected hard disk failure. Please back up your data immediately. ». Then when I press on enter, vista starts booting. However, as soon as this happens my screen freaks out and becomes all pixelated and torn. The colors are mostly purple, red and blue. I have no idea what is the problem. I tried to reformat my hard drive, but it does not solve the problem. Also, I sometimes get an error blue solid screen telling me to contact the manufacturer. Unfortunately, the warranty has expired and I decided to try to fix it myself (mostly because the manufacturer said I was on my own).

I only had the laptop for a year and worked a lot, until recently. I don't think I have a virus but I tried to install the new display drivers before this happened. I thought that this could be the problem, but I rolled back drivers, and after the reformat, nothing has changed.

Hope I gave enough info, I really don't want to dropping $ 1,500 per year for a laptop a habit... Help, please!

    Jon

Your hard drive has failed or you have other components of the motherboard not too. You must replace dead components, do not try and reinstall anything. And it's a perfect example of why the couple of hundred dollars costs for an extended warranty on a laptop are a good thing. Here you have a laptop mostly newish which can have a dead motherboard and it will be very expensive to replace. You can buy a new portable hard drive, reinstall Windows and hope it is everything that was wrong with the computer. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

  • HP Pavilion 400-434 Office: intelligent control of hard disk: failure

    Hello

It all started when the computer would go blank right after startup, the HP logo would come upward, then 'auto repair preparation", more... Just empty. After reading the forums online, I did all the possible troubleshooting steps and at the end I did the SMART test... the result was:

    Verification of the processor: past

Intelligent control of hard disk: failure

    Failure ID: RGD7MK-7HV7RC-9XJ16K-60BB03

After obtaining these results, when I turn on the computer, it gives me a blue screen saying: drive SMART 1 error (301) and told me to test once again, that I did and got the same result as above.

Here is some info from the computer:

    Model: HP Pavilion slimline 400-434

    Processor type: pentium (R) of the Intel (R) J2900 @2. 41 GHz

    Thanks for your help!

    Hi there @Brugalgirl

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support! It's a good place to find the help you need, other users, the HP experts and other members of the support staff. I understand that your computer does not start successfully, and you found a Smart Drive 301 error code. I'm happy to help you with this.

I checked the ID of the failure, you've posted and verifies that the error. Unfortunately, this means that your hard drive needs to be replaced.  In view of the fact that the system does not boot, it is likely that the hard drive is completely unreadable, but depending on what you have on this subject, it may be worth your while to check with a local computer service shop and see if they can help to recover data from your hard drive.

If your system is relatively new and may be covered by the warranty, or if you wish to fix with HP for the guarantee system, you can call in hotline to make these arrangements. In this case, please use the following http://www.hp.com/contacthp and create a folder for your question and contact HP. If you do not live in the United States / Canada, please click on the link below to get contact information for your region.
    http://WWW8.HP.com/us/en/contact-HP/WW-phone-assist.html

Otherwise you can look at a replacement hard drive yourself. If you have a set of recovery media, then you already have a factory image HP, which allows you to put in place a new hard drive with your original operating system. If is no longer, you have a set or did not have a set of recovery media, so you can see if there are not yet available for your model.
