  Go to tools, accounts, select the account e-mail, properties, servers.

  Make sure that 'Connect with password' is not selected.

  There is a good guide on how to backup your Windows Mail emails on the link below.  This works for Vista with Windows Mail and Windows 7 with Windows Live Mail.

  Save the file exported in the media of your choice.

  To re-import your emails etc, just choose the import option and find the saved folder that you created in the guide above.

  I have Windows mail 6.0.6000.16386 v..  For some time now, it has become progressively more reluctant to receive emails, to the point at which it now 'expires' leaving me with error 0x800CCC0F.  I can send emails without any problem, but need to use Webmail to retrieve messages.  Any ideas?  Bob.

  Try to compact and repair the database of WinMail (see www.oehelp.com/WMUtil/).  Attention also to the antivirus interference that may lead to problems (see www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3).  You can also try to remove your e-mail account, then closing and reopening WinMail and add it again.  Sometimes, the parameters for a given account are 'lost' and which solves the problem.

  You can also check to see if a webmail access works very well, if you have this ability.

  I don't know if this is the right forum or not, since I can't find one for Windows Mail. Here's my problem; yesterday, on 23 April, I opened my Windows Mail program and click "receive all".   I use Windows Mail Vista and more than 20 accounts are set up for a variety of areas. One of my areas has 3 addresses - everything I have Setup email in Windows Mail. All these 3 E-mail addresses share the same incoming and outgoing mail server and are administered using cPanel on a shared hosting environment. For the first two email addresses that I have set up for this area very well work (with "include this account when checking mail or synchronizing" ticked), however, when the third e-mail address has the checkbox "Include this account when checking mail or synchronizing" checked as I get a copy of my email inbox. If I uncheck the box I receive a copy (which is what I would like to receive). However, I'm afraid, to leave it off because it is a very important address and I fear he will cease to broadcast my posts if the checkbox is not clicked. When checking e-mail via cPanel account I shows that only one (not two) of the emails I get. I deleted the account in Windows Mail, then rebuilt - still the same problem occurs. I do not understand why it is product - any ideas as to why it occurs?

  We see this behavior if you have two copies of the same account.  Check tools | Accounts and make sure that you have not listed twice inadvertently.  It could also be due to a problem in the database (where the tallies are stored), so try to compact and repair the database and see if that fixes the problem (see www.oehelp.com/WMUtil/).

  For months I've been suspecting my hosting provider filter incoming messages too strongly because every now and then I know that some people mail me reached me not.   Yes.  WMUtil fix incompatibilities between the database and the actual data.  But McAfee is the real culprit.  It is not compatible with WinMail and must be completely removed.  You can get www.microsoft.com/security_essentials and www.malwarebytes.org to protect your system and exclude the eml files in mse to prevent these mismatches in the future.

  After that remove your e-mail account, then run WMUtil to compact and repair the database and then add your account to e-mail back again.

  It seems as you do not have the latest version of Vista, so make sure that you have upgraded to SP2 to fix the other faults (Winmail will not be affected much).

  I use windows mail on a vista operating system.
  I have no problem someone sent an email to my email address.
  The problem occurs when this person knocks 'response' to my email.
  The system does not use the same email address for the response but subtly changes the address by adding a 't' in the name of the user to the address section.
  Fortunately, the new address is not a valid one, and the person who tried to send me a response receives an error message that their message has not been sent.
  I found the new address corrupted on my 'contacts' and I tried to remove and restore sound my correct address in my business card.
  I also tried leaving the address corrupted on my contact card, but doing just the default.
  Yet when you hit the response it creates my name with the address corrupt, despite this not existing address in my contacts and even when I leave it as default address not on my contact card.
  Can anyone else has had this problem?

  Tools | Accounts | This email account | Properties | In general. If there is an address in the reply-to address field, delete it.
