Windows Media Center almost completely broken and ehRec.exe take 50% CPU

My windows media center is broken. Part, but probably not all, the problem is ehRec.exe uses up to 50% of the CPU, which means that it is completely connected because I have a computer with dual-core CPU.

Do not record scheduled recordings. Sometimes, I can't even in media center. It becomes inadmissible. Usually just after a reboot, I can enter (which starts the record if we were waiting) but not if I first have to do other things. It seems that my media center just kaput.

I got this incomprehensible message in the case where the application log

The description for the event (0) in Source (Media Center Scheduler) ID is not found. The local computer may not have the information necessary registry or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the option/auxsource = flag to retrieve this description; For more information, see Help and Support. The following information is part of the event: unable to write the backup file...

There is not any other journal entries of interest, with the exception of those who say that I started a record while the show was in progress. I get those now, when I start media center just after the restart, because he wasn't already record where it should be.

EhRec.exe sometimes stop looping. Not this time. It was looping when I started to write this and it's always a loop.

Is it possible to reinstall completely media library? I tried to run Setup, but it blocks half the time with ehRec.exe pounding to the CPU. I see that other people have the problem of ehRec.exe (beginning around mid-August), but it doesn't seem to be a real solution to this problem.

Remove any recent update of microsoft .net framework. I had this problem several times. The first time, he ended up reinstalling the entire system. Although I suspect that the recent update of the .net framework is the culprit, I was not skilled enough to remove it first.  This time I look for answers elsewhere and no one really had a clue. Then I removed the .net framework 4 client update and voila, problem solved. I hope it will work for you, if you don't have not messed around first with other parts of the system too. I tried scannow /sfc solution, but really... This only works if you have the most recent operating system on the disk. Many have download updates, service pack, Microsoft and therefore, cannot provide a disk with the appropriate files. Anyway, it is not the solution. Apparently, the way of downloading these updates of .net framework is important. I don't know the solution for a correct installation of updates, but do not know that the 50% CPU problem is solved EVERY time, repealing the last update. Hope this helps someone. I have certainly spent enough time and lost enough when microsoft updates, disable the operation of my computer. Unfortunately, it's the solutions we try that sealed the fate of our readers. I lost 15mos of professional documents in my records of e-mail in September of my attempts stupid to solve this problem, after that a previous update of .net framework caused my duty reinsall windows.

Have lost the TV Program Guide in Windows Media Center (clock on PC can not also follow GMT... dunno if they are connected). Have messed around with all the settings, but can't seem to recover these items.

    Hi Liljools,

    1. When did you start to question?

    2. you remember to make changes to the computer before this problem?

    3. When was the last time that the clock was followed by time?

    4. have you tried to change the settings of the clock to GMT?

    Step 1:

Try to configure the guide once more and check if it helps. The configuration guide, follow these steps:

    a. on the start screen, navigate to tasks, click settings, click TV, click Guide, and then click Set Up Guide listings.

    b. follow the instructions on the screen to configure the list of Guide for your region.

  • Windows Media Center - Internet TV - availability and navigation of the full episodes.

With regard to the full episodes of Windows Media Center - Internet TV.

I've seen a few questions about this in the Microsoft Answers forum, but 2 / 3 times the official response was unrelated to the question asked. So, to be clear, I'm not talking about watching live TV, navigation in my TV guide, TV recording, or watch recorded TV shows. It's strictly about the availability of the property and to navigate to find full episodes on Internet TV.

There are a few ridiculous clips ginormous and only a small handful of full episodes. I hate clips. In a busy life, they are the opposite of the useful. So, instead of going through every single show individually to see if it contains full episodes, I want a way to browse shows with full episodes. Is this a problem of training or an enhancement request? Is there a way to filter the full episodes only?

I would also like to be able to filter my search of full episodes. It seems ridiculous to me if I want to just full episodes, I have to go through a long list of clips in the search results to find. Again... ask for the issue or the development of training?

I'm also confused why some shows that have full episodes on the site of the network do not have full episodes in WMC Internet TV. I know it's a matter of content and perhaps not something, you can contact... is it be restricted by networks?

    Thank you!!

    Hello

All the content comes from the provider.  I hate watching the clips too and there is not much Microsoft can do about it. It is sometimes frustrating to go through all the clips to find full episodes. The only thing you can do is to provide feedback to microsoft to enhance the functionality of Media Center search to find full episodes.

  • Windows media center network (WMCN) uninterrupted actions - 97% of CPU!

    Hello

My characteristics: Win 7, IE9, 4 GB RAM, 320 disc only half used.

Media players: Windows media center, iTunes, RealPlayer.

Me: above the knowledge of the average user, but certainly not a techie.

Problem: Windows Media Center network shares nonstop and uses 97% of RAM memory. Norton kept alert me to very high CPU usage caused by Media Network Sharing. One or 2 cores, no clue. I ran diagnostics (msconfig, all the performance tools, etc.) I don't know what is sharing with or what. I have somehow cut off the connection. No luck. Finally, I disabled the WMCN, he eliminated as a player option and finally my cursor could pass with a little more enthusiasm. Yes, it was so bad. He is crawling and then he almost died.

Problem: at least I can now access this site! I ran a full system diag and it mentions the player once again, and superfetch. Reading the comments on MS Answers, there is a certain files with a good amount of info in the prefetch folder. Should I really delete this and then turn the superfetch? All my other effors failed.

Problem: She also said something too Exchange. Yes, much too much of a good thing I guess. It seems that 1 solution would be to select a paging size, instead of letting windows decide. Do you agree?

Problem: iTunes access is no longer the store and it no longer displays my library! I have contacted Apple and we talked for an hour, traded emials, but not luck. Libraries are there, may be moved, but I have used both iTunes & Real regularly for about 18 months. What gives? This happened after that windows media was synchronization/networking in all directions.

Thank you very much. All of these events occurred this week. When I have a bad week, it's really bad.

How can I transfer (copy or cut) a .img file of Medis Center window? There is not a transfer function that I can find.

Freshly installed, all updates up to SP2, whenever I have open Windows Media Center, and then select Internet TV (TV + movies) I get an error stating:

    «INVALID APPLICATION - unable to launch «»

Nothing opens and I see all the icons TV.  I then click on the OK button and the app closes back to TV + movies (TV recorded - by default).  I can click on Play DVD, no problem.  I can click on the Netflix plugin (once again no problem).  The question seems to exist ONLY when I select 'Internet TV'.  I don't have a TV Tuner card in the machine, as well as setting up is not an option.

Note: I am a COMPUTER technician for over 20 years and have researched the matter only of trying many fixes that don't work not including:

    • sfc/scannow (does report no error)
    • CHKDSK (no corruption of reports)
    • reinstalled MS silverlight
    • Installed the Netflix option
    • Parameters, make sure all the General internet settings are selected correctly
    • Disabling the firewall/AV
    • Change Windows MCE receiver opening Service of the Local Service Network Service logon

Except to call Microsoft and forking over $99 - nobody knows what is the cause?

    Additional information:

After starting Windows Media Center, and then selecting TV + movies, under the heading Internet TV a bit dimmed it says "BETA".  Not sure if this has something to do with it.  Also on my laptop which has Windows 7, the Windows Media Center interface is different and seems to work without problems.  What gives?
