Windows Media Center crashes when I try to add extender
About two weeks ago (about 9/30; "I think that was a day after an MSE update), my Xbox 360 suddenly stopped recognizing my Windows Media Center PC. When I would try to set up my Extender, she would get to the first step before you give me an error "cannot set up Extender. I checked to make sure that all services were running, the firewall allowed programs through and so on, but kept getting the same error.
About a week after that, the error "Cannot set up Extender" has been replaced with an error "Windows Media Center has stopped working". It reads: "a problem caused blocking the program works correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available. "He was giving me this error whenever I try to add the extension since last week.I tried disabling my firewall, WCM via the Control Panel, delete the mcepg2 file in the eHome folder, rename the eHome folder, remove mediacenteredatastore.db, tries to connect via another user and all other solutions I found on the forums of uninstalling/reinstalling. I would greatly appreciate it someone could solve this, like many other people, because it seems that there are several issues across the internet on this error. Please let me know if I can provide more information about this error and how to give it. Thank you.Solved: it was a problem with my router, Actiontec (Rev MI424-WR F). Windows Media Center crashes when I try to put the Xbox 360 as an Extender
Hello
Currently, I am trying to set up my Xbox 360 as an Extender for Windows Media Center. Everything goes well until I enter the 8-digit code. I am able to enter the code and when I click on 'Next', it says that the program has stopped responding. I tried both disable the firewall on my computer and clear the Cache on my Xbox 360 system. You have any other suggestions as to what could cause this problem and how to fix it? Thank you.

Media Center crashes when starting a movie from netflix
I have seen this problem with many X 64 now users of systems. Netflix in windows media center crashes when you click on the beginning of the game film. Seems to be a X 64 system problem. All the patches yet? I saw a large number of entries of "try this" but I haven't seen any which have resulted in a solution,
Thanks for any help on what I would use netflix inside the WMC if possible.Hi all
It is a known problem with Netflix in Windows Media Center. It is caused by the presence of a very long user agent string in Internet Explorer. For more information about the agent user channels, see the following MSDN article. There is currently no supported workaround by modifying manually the user agent string can cause problems of compatibility with some Web sites.

Windows Media Center crashes on Vista when you try to play Netflix
I can connect to Netflix and discover my queue and all the rest. I can view the details of the episodes and so forth, but when I click on 'Play', Windows Media Center crashes and restarts itself - every time.
There are other problems in Windows Media Center. Sometimes it freezes during the display of other media, such as Internet TV. I had my computer more than a year, and this is the first time I tried to use Windows Media Center, so I don't know if it worked before.
I tried to find an update for it, but all that I've tried say that it applies to my system. (I always install the automatic updates). I also ran the Fix It program, which says it completed, but which did not help.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Hi farrelldoc,
1. What is the error message you receive library breaks down?
2. did you of recent changes on the computer?
3. what Microsoft fixit did you run on the computer?
There is a known issue on some computers that have a chain very long user agent in Windows Internet Explorer. This problem occurs when the user-agent string exceeds 260 characters. There is currently no work around supported for that matter.
For more information, see the Microsoft article and try the steps mentioned below.
Known issues and limitations of Netflix on Windows Media Center for Windows Vista
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/972496
For the Windows media center crashes when viewing other media issue try the following procedure.
It is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is causing the problem.
I suggest that you perform a clean boot and check.
To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows Vista or Windows 7 by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.
See the link below to learn more about how to clean boot.
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135
Reset the computer to start as usual
When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:
(a) click Start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.
(b) If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password or click on continue.
(c) under the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.
(d) when you are prompted to restart the computer, click on restart.
I hope this helps!

Media Center crashes when configuring the TV signal
I bought a new computer there with Windows 8 (64-bit) a month and set at level to Pro pack for the Media Center. I use a TV HDHomerun tuner that is connected to the network that worked fine on my old machine of Windows 7 and Windows 8 new machine until this week. I noticed that a show than I had expected did not record. I found that Media Center did not find a signal. When I started the process of signal TV Media Center froze. After several trials, Media Center not continue and set up a TV signal. I get a popup that says that Media Center has stopped working and closes. I also received an error in Media Center indicating that Media Center has encountered a serious problem.
I searched for this resolution and have not found one. I tried a clean boot and received the same error and crash. I uninstalled Media Center, then reinstalled, which did not work. I also deleted files of database to let Media Center rebuild, which also did not work. SFC \scannow comes out with no error. Can someone help me please? I feel I lost the $100 for the Media Center of the Pro Pack. All of this worked smoothly in Windows 7. That's happened? If I can add my two cents to this, even if the thread is a year old, I have two tuners TV, one by HP and DIAMOND. The DIAMOND is new and has not been tested with Win7, but the HP tuner worked fine with Windows 7, and it worked with Windows 8.1... once. Now, whenever I try to use Windows Media Center to put in place my TV signal or watching television, the receiver service crashes, restarts and continues to hang until I have leave any action calls this service.
The Compatibility Center said that the DIAMOND tuner is compatible with Win8.1, but not the HP tuner. However, the computer is a HP.
EDIT: Look in the event viewer and all ehRecvr.exe accidents are related to C:/Windows/SYSTEM32/vorbis.acm. This file is associated with FL Studio. I renamed the file vorbis.acm.bak and tried again, and made me the error.

Windows Media Center crashes under Remote Desktop connection after the installation of KB2592687
When you view another computer (Win7 Pro for Win7 Pro) via the remote desktop connection, this (KB2592687) update causes Windows Media Center not start or leave immediately, in both cases briefly showing a popup that reads:
Windows Media Center has stopped working
Both computers have installed KB259687. WMC works by connecting directly to each machine. If KB259687 is uninstalled on the machine connected remotely via the remote desktop connection, you can run once again, WMC in the distance window. Note the video is not available, but you are able to verify existing records, change the calendar, see the rack TV, etc. (everything as before). Records on demand on the PC are working correctly, I had a crash the system (blue screen) apparently because of this.
Note that there is no problem watching a WMC when using desktop remote connection to a Pro Win8 machine when connected to a machine, Win7 Pro. WMC is installed on the machine Win8 Pro and is adjustable from inside the Desktop Login window on the Win7 Pro machine remotely.
I had the same problem, but uninstalling the update didn't fix it for me. I have studied and found that permissions for key reg key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server\WinStations\Rdp-Tcp included not all permissions for the users group, just like the other subkeys. Maybe the update of above RDP modified these permissions? In any case, when I added for this key for users read permissions, shell new WMC would begin in an RDP session. I also found this race the ehshell 'as administrator' would work under RDP, but this was not necessary in the past.
