Windows Media Center in Vista doesn't have the option for Closed Caption

Hello

I went to a page "Help & how-to" describing the process of "see closed captions or subtitles in Windows Media Center." He showed the following steps:

"To turn closed captioning on or off.
  1. In the start screen, navigate to tasks, click settings, click TV or DVD, then closed captioning. In some regions, you may need to select subtitles instead of captioning. »

My problem is that I don't have the option for subtitles in TV as described above. But I have to DVD. So where and how can I solve this problem?

Thank you.

Go to settings, television, then you will see the captioning, then you can click on the + to switch running or go to advanced for more options.

    Hello

Windows XP Media Center is available for OEM only and if you don't have a motherboard the OEM valid, it will not activate.

The only option would be to get a newer version of Windows if your system supports or get an OEM motherboard (HP) that you can use the recovery on.

On windows media Center, there is no spot on the home screen menu to allow me to add extender? Can anyone offer advice?

    Hi Halam.

Thanks a lot for your help on this. I don't know if this method would work as I finally found a solution after hours of playing with different settings and downloads. For others who are trying, I found that you need the rollup2 update (which I got) If you have this, go to this link www.xbox.co:80 / fr-U.S./PCSetup/MCE05Lite and follow the instructions. I don't know if it works for the extension, however it worked to use my xbox as an Extender.

Now, I have these two pairs, unfortunately I have a new problem. As the menu tasks is not yet here, that I can't go on an Internet browser. Basically I try to videos from websites to my tv via my xbox and I have found a method to be very simple to do, if the menu tasks was on my version of windows media Center. If anyone can offer advice on this, I would be very grateful.

Can I use windows media player to play mp3 and have the recigition speech to convert to text?

You can get on a conversion of 70% in reading a file in Windows Media Player using something like Dragon Naturally Speaking to convert. If you set the playback speed to slow in Windows Media Player to play > play speed, you will get a better result. The best option is to download the file to an audio transcription service, but which generally costs 0, 50-1, 00 per minute of audio.

  • Windows Media Center cannot detect the error DVD Windows Media Center cannot detect a DVD in the DVD - ROM drive. Insert a video DVD into the drive

Original title: why Windows Media Center does not detect my DVD?

I built my computer motherboard ASUS P658D, Intel i7 processor clocked at 2.6 gHz, 12 GB RAM, 750W Corsair PWR. power, Windows 7 Home Premium 64 - bit & ie9. When I put or the other two DVDs in one of two DVD players, Windows Media Center appears and when I click on "Play DVD" Media Center give me a window that says:

"Windows Media Center cannot detect a DVD in the DVD - ROM drive. Insert a video DVD in the drive." Two DVDs, I've tried are educational for DVD

my Nikon D300 Digital camera and a family video DVD or both these very well play in a bed of same computer running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, & ie8.

I tried Microsoft Fixit, no help. I tried to send Microsoft Support, and I got NO HELP. I did not bring any changes, and installed any program, just

scoured the internet. A DVD player is a Sony Optarc with Microsoft Driver, the other is ASUS. I also tried to use Windows Media Player but nothing

rises or it returns me to Windows Media Center and it does not detect to play either of my DVD. How can I get help here, or from Microsoft? Thank you.

No, there is no yellow warning in Device Manager and the device manager says that two DVD players work properly. Mr. Fix it's

automated download from microsoft that is supposed to automatically fix some problems, but he provided no help here. I think it is more likely

that there is a problem with Windows Media Center or Windows 7 Pro 64 bit and either of my two new Sony DVD drives

    and ASUS.

I thought my way in a solution. My thought was: Device Manager indicates DVD players work properly and both are new and we're Sony, and the other ASUS so I think only an unlikely problem with readers. The problem is with Windows Media Center "do DETECTED is not the DVD. So there must be a problem with Windows Media Center. I thought that I might need to reinstall Windows 7... then I thought that maybe if I just reinstall Windows Media that will work. He did. My problem was:

Start > Panel > programs and features > features on or off Windows activate > then uncheck the box for multimedia functions > restart the computer > and then re-check the box to restore the multimedia features > now both discs play both DVDs, I tried. Both disks are operating normally. Reinstall the characteristics of media Windows 7 resolved the problem. Thanks to all who offered solutions.

    Hi timr22708473,

Acrobat 7 is really an old version of acrobat & might not be compatible with your system configuration to features may or may not work.

This is the reason why Adobe recommends always using the application in a consistent environment.

  • Reset the library in Windows Media Center on Vista Ultimate

Any way to reset Media Center, so it restores the library of images, video and audio?  I need to start all over again because it won't let me control my own destiny.

Media Center has found all kinds of stuff on my readers that I don't want to appear in its menus.  No, it's not _, but I can't see how this could be a real problem.  Is finding all sorts of photos of various I don't want not shown.  I wouldn't have to revamp my hard drive in an attempt to hide the stuff of Media Center.  That's all just crazy!  Media Player 11 is much better behaved.

Once Media Center detects something it got him to it!  At least it seems that way to me.

It would be a great improvement if Media Center show you a list of files that it finds and then gives you the ability to remove or add to this list.  MS apparently he dumbed down so that you can do.  Then after that it's must rescan and update everything.  Media Center development team please talk to the development of Media Player 11 team and see how they do.

Apparently, it cannot detect that I moved my Public folder to another drive.  He is always looking for C:/users/Public and won't give up his research there.  I empied on all my music, video, photos, etc. under my user so it won't find anything be it next time around.  Now, I just need to find a way to reset the library from scratch.  It would be a nice option to have on task!

Another option would be to score a registration file in Media Player/Media Center with a power button set with a right click on the folder.  Carbonite for that because he's back in line ups and it couldn't be simpler!

This is really an excellent product to be almost useless for me.

    BajaPaul,

Windows Media Center takes advantage of your information to the Windows Media Player library. We will need to edit your library here.

    <><><><><><><><><><><><>

Add or remove watched your library folders:

Open Windows Media Player, click on the library tab and choose the type of media (video, music, photos, recorded TV) then press F3 on your keyboard to open the Add to library window, press Advanced Options, make your selections for your library folder (by selecting Add, Remove, ignore or Enable), click on OK.

Now, let's remove existing content unwanted from your library:

Press on the library tab, choose the type of media (video, music, photos, recorded TV). Now select library in the left panel, displays, select file. You can now right click on the folder you want, and then select delete, to the notification area select delete from library only, press on OK. Alternatively, you can right-click on any multimedia file and follow the steps above to remove.

Note: Pictures and video in Windows Media Center libraries automatically monitor your current user photos and video records. Any multimedia content added to these folders will be automatically analyzed in your Media Center, which includes the folder Public under C:/Users, place only the content you want to add them.

  • lack of Windows Media Center in Vista HP

I am running Vista Home Premium.
My OS is Windows Media Center. He started giving me problems with the cursor if poster not, so I stopped using it for some time several months ago. Now, I can't find it anywhere on my system.
I need to know if I can get it back, or if I can redownload it. I can't find anywhere on the Microsoft site to download.
I don't have Windows media player, but it's not the same.

  • Windows Media Center in Vista

Media Center worked fine, now when I try to open the screen goes black. I have not seen a problem with other programs. THA would exclude a potential problem with the video card?

    Hi Bruce952,

    1. did you of recent changes on the computer?

    2. you receive an error message?

This can occur if the video card needs the drivers updated on the computer or system files are corrupted on the computer.

    Method 1

I suggest that scan you SFC on the computer that would be a system file corrupt on the computer search and replace.

The analysis may take some time, so be patient. Windows allows to fix corrupt or missing files it finds. If the information of the installation CD is required to fix the problem, you may be asked to insert your Windows Vista installation CD.

For more information please visit the link below.

How to use the System File Checker tool to fix the system files missing or corrupted on Windows Vista or Windows 7

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833

    Method 2

If the previous step fails, check if you are able to open Windows media center in the clean boot state.

It is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is causing the problem.

I suggest that you perform a clean boot and check.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows Vista or Windows 7 by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

See the link below to learn more about how to clean boot.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Reset the computer to start as usual

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

    (a) click Start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.

    (b) If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

    (c) under the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.

    (d) when you are prompted to restart the computer, click on restart.

    I hope this helps!

  • Is it possible to add a Windows Media Center in Vista Business?

I bought a system that has windows vista Enterprise edition. Is it possible to add the Windows Media Center to this version of Windows. I am trying to upgrade, but it will be a few months and I want to enjoy Media Center for my XBox 360 Kinect.

No, Windows Media Center is available in Windows Vista Home Premium and Windows Vista Ultimate. It is NOT part of the Business edition and you can not install as a standalone.

  • Recently I had to reinstall Windows Vista Ultimate Edition and Windows Media Center displays now is no longer the Netflix app.

Also, it does not display the internet tv options.  He displayed a week before I did reinstall it, so why not now?  When I go the the media center Web site and try opening netflix from there he tells me to upgrade to Windows 7.  The upgrade is not an acceptable answer, because this isn't a free solution to a problem that did not exist last week.  I turned on automatic downloads, I clicked the download now, so everything should be updated.  How can I get the dos applications?

    Hi baconlord,

You can read the following article and check if it helps to solve the problem.
