Windows Media Center opens every time that I'm looking for something!

Hello, I have a problem. Whenever I get something, for example in google chrome, IE8, or even in Help and Support, once you press on enter it opens Windows Media Center! Like as if its been programmed to open each time! So when I was typing this, I found a similar question. The "I want to stop the windows media center to automatically...". "so I followed the instructions to go in" start > default programs > Set Program Access' and then choosing Windows Media Center to be disabled. " Now whenever I'm looking for something an error message! Something like the software has been restricted, or something. Can anyone help?

Hi getslinky2,

I hope you do well. It would be good if you could provide us with the exact error message. However, you can try the following steps.

1. Click Start, then Control Panel.

2. click on default programs.

3. click on program access and computer by default.

4. click on custom.

5. allow access to this program.

Please let us know regarding when exactly this issue started while we offer a system restore when the computer was working fine, if this is really necessary. We also know if you have made changes to the computer or programs before this problem started. Please try these steps and let us know so that we can continue troubleshooting to diagnose the problem.

try to use the sfc/scannow command. to check the system files for corruption

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833

Use the (SFC.exe) System File Checker tool to determine which file is causing the problem and then replace the file. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. Open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click principally madeprograms, Accessories, right-click guest, and then click run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or clickallow.
    2. Type the following command and press ENTER:
      sfc/scannow

The sfc/scannow command analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions.

  • On occasion, I sign in the windows media center, I receive one doesn't sstart message for picassoaddin. What is it?

What is picassoaddin - opportunity, that I sign in the windows media center, I receive one doesn't sstart message for picassoaddin?

It turns out that the problem could be due to some pre-installed software. The Picasso snap steals the focus from Media Center at the session of the Extender is launched and so instead of the remote control Media Center, he tries to control Picasso (which is not visible). So by pressing the green button should bring Media Center at the forefront and work around the problem.

A more permanent solution is to remove the Picasso-> General-> program library Options-> edit program library and uncheck Picasso and the snap-snap front. Then restart the session of the Extender.

  • Why the windows media center opens all my programs?

I was working on my computer when all of a sudden, I was asked what I wanted to use to open a program. I chose 'Windows Media Center', and suddenly most of my desktop icons changed to icons in Media Center. Now, anytime I want to open a program like a web browser or game, it redirects me to Windows Media Center. Is it possible to reset these programs so that it does not happen? I'm not very good with computers, so a method of dumbed-down would really help.

  • When you try to open a PDF file, Windows Media Center opens

My aunt has Windows Vista on her computer and whenever she tries to open a pdf file that opens Windows Media Center. Is there a way to get Windows Vista to point to Acrobat Reader to open the file, or should it go directly to the RA? Thanks for any help you can give on this subject.

    Steve

    PS; I don't know if it's 32-bit or 64-bit.
    * original title - PDF problem on windows Vista *.

Acrobat Reader or Adobe Reader? Personally, I wouldn't use Adobe at all, but try this. Skip #1 if it is already on the HARD drive.

    Create a file association.

    1. download and save the attachment to the office.
    2. right click on the saved file.
    3. Select: Open with on the shortcut menu.
    4. click on: choose [default] program.
    5. Select: PDF reader program.
    6. check: always use the selected program to open this type of file.
    7. click on OK.
