Windows Media Center previously uninstalled, now trying to install again but freezes

I remember Windows Media Center uninstall {using 7 programs and features} awhile back, thinking a problem I had at the time ~ do not remember what it was!

Now, in trying to add this feature of Microsoft, the taskbar says it'll take a while, but in the 'end' of the taskbar, my pc freezes?
I rebooted and tried the repair of Windows Media software, it fixed 4 things in Windows Media Player, and when I tried again to the Windows Media Center, it still freezes my pc.
I am running Windows 7 Home Premium, all updates from Microsoft are up to date... no other problems. I'm running WMP 12, which is ongoing.
That is what it is?
Thank you / appreciated!

Click Start, type: enable or disable windows features
Press enter on your keyboard
Extend the functionality of media
Check Windows Media Center
Click OK
Restart when prompted

If Media Center is still not installed, start the Windows 7 Home Premium desktop

Click Start
Type: CMD, according to the results, right-click CMD
Click on "Run as Administrator"
At the command prompt, type: sfc/scannow

This will check for any breach of integrity

Restart your system

Try to activate again the Media Center

If it does not, start the desktop, once again, insert your DVD Windows 7 Home Premium
Click Install now
When the installation menu appears, click on upgrade
This will refresh the OS files while preserving your personal files, settings and installed applications

  • Problems with reorded/live TV in Windows Media Center/player

Having recently updated the drivers for my graphics (Nvidea GeForce GTX 460 SE) Windows Media Player/Center refuses to show any video image during an attempt to play live TV or TV recorded previously. I only get audio.
My drivers are up to date and the only thing I can think that I've changed has been updated my graphic drivers. This is television shows that were working before.
I have been using a third-party program to play these in the meantime, but obviously it is not compatible with my remote windows.
    Any suggestions?

If it all started after updating the graphics driver, you can easily restore the driver.

Try to card tv tuner driver update. Visit the tv tuner card manufacturer's Web site to download and install the latest version of the driver.

Another thing, you could try resets WMC: -.

    Run the Setup again.

Open WMC > tasks > settings > General > installation Windows Media Center > rerun the installation

    Does that help?

If the above does not help then try to reset WMC: -.

Open Control Panel > uninstall a program > turn Windows features on or off > scroll multimedia features > uncheck the box against Windows Media Center > follow the instructions on the screen > Reboot > open again to turn Windows features on or off in the control panel > scroll multimedia features > check the box against Windows Media Center.

    Now reconfigure WMC again.

I would also suggest you to uninstall any third-party application you are using at the moment.

I'm having a problem with Windows Media Center which seems to have left me speechless. Whenever I have try and watch live TV or recorded using Media Center program, he starts to play to repeat the first second of audio for about 6 seconds and then stops playing gives me an video error and won't let watch me something else. If I stop and try and then click RESUME He stutters and gives me this video error.
It used to work fine until I started to play with the audio settings from 5.1 to 7.1 audio in the windows configuration settings. I changed the settings in-game your 7.1 speakers. Actually I tried to switch back, but when I try to 'Test' the speakers it gives a sound like it is stuttering and I still get the video error when I try to play. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Netflix will not load up to in Windows Media Center more.

I've had Netflix service for about two months now. Up to two days, I was able to stream movies through Netflix and Windows Media Center option. Now it will not load anything. It will allow me to connect to Netflix, but I can't get something and my instant queue will not charge.

    I get a message stating:

    NO INTERNET CONNECTION:

The internet connection has been lost. Make sure that your computer is connected to the internet, and then try again.

Problem is that I'm connected to the internet. (If I was not logged in, they would not connect to Netflix in the first place.)

I had even gone to the Media Center General settings to test the internet connection and it says that the internet actually works.

What is going on? I missed something?

    KC

You can try a system restore on the eve of the update has been installed and see if
the problem is resolved. Nothing in the update that fell from Netflix,
but you can certainly try a restore. A restore is a good troubleshooting step
    for beginners.

I also appreciate the link provided, but I tried why they suggested, and it did not work. I noticed that there is an update for the Media Center a few days ago. Could this be very probably why Netflix doesn't work anymore?

  • Problems with Windows Media Center cumulative update 2

    Hello

I tried to set up my xbox360 to work with windows media center.  Whenever I try to install the Update Rollup 2, he created a restore point and as soon as he arrives to install the fix, says installation failed and my computer must be restarted or something to that effect.  I did some research and found the threads on the .NET framework 1.1 Hotfix and checked for her and she does not appear in my programs add/delete, menu, so I don't think that may be worth.    It drives me crazy, any help would be appreciated seriously.

Yes - you will need to reinstall Windows to fix.  And, Yes, you will need to backup your data first and reinstall all your programs later.

I'll post instructions later tonight (they are on a machine at home).  In the meantime, now is a good time to start copying all your data to elsewhere.

    Kind regards
    Chris.

  • Windows Media Center will not receive a TV signal

My Windows Media Center worked very well and I was receiving many channels of television to the present. This morning I had to uninstall my 2009 trend micro software and then install the software of micro trend 2010. All this went well and it had no effect on Windows Media Center. I then tried to watch TV and I get an error message saying: TV stations must be offline or check the attenna. I get channels on my regular TV so TV stations broadcast. I disconnected my attenna and plugged into a different attenna. Still nothing. I tried to reconfigure WMC for a tv signal and I get a message saying that nothing can be found. I try manually configure and I get a message saying that a Hauppauge WIN TV 885 is available but is not selected. So I guess there is a problem with the Tuner? Everything worked fine yesterday.

  • Freeze statement signal tv Windows Media Center

    I have a recurring problem.

I'm trying to update my channels of TV tuner in Windows Media Center.

I use a Philips SAA7130, Hybrid Capture Device and I use Windows 7 Ultimate.

Since I moved to Windows 7 since VISTA, whenever I go to Windows Media Center and try to update my TV channels, once it gets past enterting my Zip Code for the United Kingdom and download the guide ok, it then goes to "Examing of TV signal" and then the computer hangs.

Recovery only I have is in power turned off/turned on the PC to recover.

I tried various solutions on the web to work around this problem, but none of them work.

It's more frustrating that the program crashes.

I tried this device to update with a new driver found on the list of drivers Windows 7, as I can't find a reliable one on the Web.

I've updated 6.0.1.3 as dated: 05/08/2009 Philips Semiconductors, but it made no difference.

Judging by researching the web, it seems to be a lot of other users having the same problem and also with different TV tuner cards.

I use this TV tuner card, and it is connected to an external antenna. It's the only method I have on my PC for the reception of digital television in the United Kingdom

It worked ok when it was running on Windows VISTA.

    Have you any suggestions please?

    All,

Sorry for the delay in responding. I've never seen the above mediaCenterDataStore.db file so searched the Internet and found that the best way to solve the problem is to disable Windows Media to run. The PC should restart.

Then you re-enable Windows Media Center, and then open Windows Media Center and begin the process of setting TV and this time it works fine.

Either way, I also discovered that my TV tuner card not working, so I replaced it with a PCTV NanoStick T2.

I can now TV works as well on the PCTV s/w, as well as on Windows Media Center.

Now, everything works fine, and this issue may now be closed.

For those interested, this is how to disable Windows Media Center for WINDOWS 7 users:

    BEGINNING

    CONTROL PANEL

    PROGRAMS and FEATURES

Select "turn on or off Windows features.

You will find on the left side of the Panel

    It opens a new window

    Search

    MULTIMEDIA FEATURES

    Extend the FUNCTIONALITY of MEDIA

Uncheck the box Windows MEDIA CENTER

    Follow the instructions to continue.

    It takes some time.

It is important to ensure that you have nothing else running like the PC restart after that

    Restart the PC

Now, go back to the above process

Re-check WINDOWS MEDIA CENTER to be able to again

It does not suggest to reboot your PC, but I did anyway

I then opened MEDIA CENTER in the normal way

Then, I managed to complete the TV setting process which has taken time but do not hang at all.

    Good luck!
