  • Windows Media Center Setup stuck on 'change of Test channel '.

I just reinstalled Win7 64 Bit.  I'm trying to set up Windows Media Center.  He went through different stages until he arrives to step 'Test channel change.  At this stage, he starts asking me to enter a new 3 digit channel I know my system receives and I do.  He then asks for another and another, each time asking me if the channel changed correctly.  I click on the box that says that this was the case, and then it asks for another channel, then another and another.  It does not stop.  It is a loop and I can't go further and watch TV with my computer in part built to watch TV using WMC (if I look grumpy, I am). I tried from scratch 2 more times with the same result.  WtF?  More...

This looks like one of three things is unhealthy

    (1) your installation disc

    (2) your RAM

    (3) your hard drive,

You must test each and then determine if its more cost effective to replace the unit or machine.

    (1) test the drive in another machine with IsoBuster - an analysis of surface and find if everything is OK if there are some errors present

    (2) tΘlΘcharger a RAM www.memtest.org - run at least 8 passes Tester and see if errors appear

    (3) download the utility from control of the manufacturer of the HD and create the bootable CD - do a quick scan and then the long scan of the hard drive and see what it reports.

  • Windows Media Center Configuration error

Hello. I found people with this problem all over the internet but I have yet to get a final solution.

My PC is running Vista Home Premium with Media Center the greats. It is connected to my wireless network.

My Xbox is connected to the network directly, as he's sitting right next to her.

My PC detects the Xbox in 'Network' and it appears as an Extender when I run the Media Center application. My Xbox gives me the 8 digit code and I put it. I said I want to share media, and it then goes to the configuration bit extender. Then it says Configuration error.

I have enabled Media Player via my firewall, open all the necessary local ports and don't have any other firewalls up. I don't know what is happening.

I'd like to get this up and running, so any help is welcome.

EDIT: Just realized this placed entirely in the wrong place. Please move it, mod?

  • Windows Media Center Gets error: invalid Application - cannot start

Windows Media Center (of the month last Vista 32-Bit)

I have problems to make internet TV, news and Netflix to connect to the internet when you use Windows Media Center.  They are all under the TV + movies option during the WMC.  I get an error saying [invalid Application - cannot start "" ""].  Not sure if this is because the internet connection that I use is not one that has a user name or password.  Not know how to configure it for this version of Windows.  I don't get this problem when you use Windows Media Center in Windows 7.

At the opening of Windows Media Center I get the following message: INVALID APPLICATION; "Unable to launch SymAddin; and a checkbox to disable this Application (I have not checked the box).

  • Windows Media Center gives error wmp.dll

Original title: Windows Media Center - Vista - does not - please help!

Hello.   We had a problem with Windows media center after the SP2 update.   We tried a few workaround solutions, and now we get the following error: "C:/windows/system32/wmp.dll is not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error.  Try to install the program by using the original installation media or contact system support".  I was unable to find a download for Windows media center in Vista.  Can you help me?

    Hi EricLarson_CL,

Method 1: Perform the analysis of System File Checker (SFC) that might help you resolve the issue.

To determine if the problem you are experiencing is caused by one or more system files that are used by Windows Vista, run the System File Checker tool. The System File Checker tool analyzes the system files and replaces incorrect versions of system files by using the correct versions.

To run the System File Checker tool, follow these steps:
    1. Click Start and type cmd in the box start the search.
    2. right click on cmd in the list programs and then click Run as administrator.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue
    3. at the command prompt, the following line, and then press ENTER:
    sfc/scannow

Follow the instructions in the link below for more information on scan SFC.
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/936212/

Method 2: You can turn off & on Windows Media Center in Windows Feature & check if the problem persists.
Turn on or off Windows features

Method 3: Try to rebuild the Media Center data store and check if it helps:
    (a) exit any running instance of Windows Media Center.
    (b) delete the mediaCenterDataStore.db file. By default, this file is located in the following location:
    %SystemDrive%\ProgramData\Microsoft\eHome\mediaCenterDataStore.DB
To remove the file, follow these steps:
    (a) click Start and then click on run
    (b) in the Open box, type run and then click OK
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password, or click on continue.
    (c) in the Open box, type %systemdrive%\programdata\microsoft\ehome and then click OK.
    (d) in the details pane, right-click right mediacenterdatastore.db and then click on remove.
    (e) click Yes to confirm that you want to move the Mediacenterdatastore.db file to the trash.
    Start Windows Media Center

Note: You may not be able to download Windows Media Center for vista, but it is integrated with the operating system.
    Hope this information is useful.

    Thank you and best regards,

  • Video Windows Media Center HDMI error problem

I noticed this problem scattered on these forums, and it took me some time to find the solution on other forums, but thought I'd post it here. For people using some graphics cards ATI HDMI with windows 7 MCE, trying to play Dolby Digital sources causes the MCE crashing. The error will say something in terms of "video error... in windows media center must be restarted." This happens about 10 seconds after the video with audio playback SD. I tried to play with all the different types of codecs ffdshow and AC3Filters etc.

The solution is in fact a major bug in windows 7. To work around this problem MCE7 and windows sound properties cannot assign 5.1 speakers. You define the sound properties in 7 Stereo 2.0 and keep the MCE to 5.1 for dolby Digital encoded files without MCE game crashing. I hope that MS will make a fix for this because it is a serious problem, and the solution is not easy to find.

I have a ZOTAC ZBOX ND02, dual ATI 750U Tuners and Windows 7.  Reloaded the o/s once to resolve quickly the it and returned.  Spends hours on the subject.  Switching to 2 speakers in the MCE Assistant did the trick.  Thanks for the tip.  Phew!

But when I play back on quicktime on the computer they showup how I shot them where u don't have to tilt your head to view the video. So is it possible to correct to show normally on windows media player, it's for Windows 7 btw

    Hello chisox05matt,

Thank you for visiting the Microsoft answers Site.

You can check with the device manufacturer for more information about recording and playback. This can occur if the video was recorded in landscape mode. Try to change the display or orientation in software video editing for playback in Windows Media Center or Windows Media player.

In addition, you can also see the thread below that contains information about a similar problem.

  • Problem installing Windows Media Center: get error 'no IR hardware found ".

I keep getting stuck trying to set up my tv tuner in my HP Pavilion laptop dv4 (entertainment version), I have a satellite signal, a TV HP Hybrid Tuner (which did not come with a large part of the documentation.  So I get through all the setting up until the last section, where it says "my remote control must be able to change the channel on my set - top box and that"no IR hardware not detected"he also tells me to see my hardware documentation (zero to watch), so I'm stuck...» Help, please!

You need to trick MS media center.   To implement, choose manual configuration. Then the antenna.  Analog.  Finishing.

Go to the main configuration of media center page.  Click on TV.  Guide.  Add a channel.  I added 3.    Now I just use my remote for my cable box to change channels...

So far, it works like a charm...  Good luck, hope it works for you!

I have Windows Vista (with Service Pack 2) installed on my system. I am trying to install a program called HotDocs.  HotDocs is a document generation program.  The installation process is arrested shortly after it starts and I get the following error message:

I tried to use msconfig to determine if any service could interfere with the Windows Installer (none appeared to be - their judgment has not solved the problem of turing), run the installation as an administrator, and help from Microsoft 'Fix It' Troubleshooting Guide (for installation problems), but none who has eliminated the problem. • Windows Media Center detects digital channels on the air, but will not display them.

To Feb. 1. 2010 my Vista Media Center has changed.  For example 1081 channel is now displayed in 1221.  Other Canadian channels were similarly renumbered.  Guide listings are correct.  The digital signal strength is all green bars.  My TV captures this channel 8.1 very well using the same antenna.  Everything has been working great until this renumbering.  Now only 2 of my 6-channel OTA work!  I love my Media Center for its PVR and want to come back!

    Dave, Blaine, WA, 98230 zip

    Update.

The downloaded guide information are preferable.  Channel 1081 revives 1081 (instead of 1221), and it works!

To sum up - around February 1, information (channel numbers) for several digital stations guide live has changed, and he followed that I couldn't receive the channels despite all my efforts.  My viewing dropped 5 2 stations.  With the latest download of zip code 98230, I'm at 4.  Good.

There are two problems.  Channel 1021 (CBUTDT) is always numbered in 1581.  Despite the green bars in the "force of the digital signal", there is no photo.  I added manually 1021 nothing helps.  The second problem is that channel KVOSDT 1121 is still called by the BBC-3 guide with no ads, and it is not possible to assign KVOS ads to this channel, which disables the recording.

I have the Olympics in HD, and I'm very happy for that!

  • Erroe Code 1720: There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A script required for this intall could not be executed.

I have Windows Vista with Service Pack 2 installed on my system.  I am trying to install a small program.  The installation process starts, but soon, I get the following error message: Error 1720: there is a problem with this Windows Installer package.  A script required for this intall to complete could not be run...  How can I solve this problem?

Try the steps mentioned in the answers marked by kmlure and Imran Chand at the following link: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-windows_programs/error-1720-there-is-a-problem-with-this-windows/0b965fe8-2d16-498c-bb88-395911e13146

If you have downloaded the program, you can try to download it again or check if there is a different place, you can download it since the file itself is not the problem.

  • Reinstallation of Windows Media Center XP error, the application failed to initialize properly (0xc000135

I had to install a new hard drive after the death of my old. I use my Dell recovery/reinstallation disk. The first time I tried installing that it froze after the reboot. I then did a repair installation (twice) and each time got the following error:

    PxShare.exe Application error.

The application failed to initialize properly (0xc000135).  Click OK to close the application.

It appears at the end of the installation, but when my login screen is displayed, it shows only one account, administrator and request a password. I have not configured any accounts when I did the installation and you do not have a password. I tried to enter without password, using admin as password and check-in safe mode did not help - it still asked for a password.

I don't know if the two problems are related or not.

    Thanks for any help!
