Windows Media Center, Xbox 360, videos of fast shipping

I was watching videos I saved as WMV files on my TV through my xbox 360. However if you try to advance the video or go directly to part later show that it does so very slowly, how do I get to jump more than 30 seconds or more?

Hello Pegamentoa,

You could try one of the following shortcuts and see if they help.
When viewing videos, you can use your controller to take one of the following shortcuts:
Press on for:
LB - Skip back one chapter.

RB - Skip before a chapter.

RT - fast forward or PG. Prev scroll through a list of items.

LT - Rewind, or PG. Prev scroll through a list of items.

START - switch between play and pause. When you browse the videos, automatically start playback using the bookmark (if it exists) and bypassing the restart/RESUME page.

X, Y - Open display on the screen for the more advanced playback controls.

Please let us know if the shortcuts have contributed to improve the speed of the fast attackers.

Sincerely,.

  • How to stop the indexing of media files in Windows Media Center Xbox 360 extender?

I have successfully set up the Xbox 360 Windows Media Center and attaches it to a machine Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit on the same LAN segment.  It works fine, except that he rebuilt his index from scratch, apparently file whenever it is launched on the Xbox.  Specifically, if the Xbox is turned off and then turned back on, and WMC on that is launched, the files in the folder of the Windows 7 machine media library are indexed again).  This makes WMC on Xbox almost unusable, because it forces you to wait a long time for the UI to become sensitive, whenever it is launched after turning on the Xbox.

This doesn't seem to be a network problem, as I've reconfigured it all the senses (wired and wireless), network setting tool reports always excellent results, and once the index file is rebuilt files media play very well.

I tried to reduce the number of files in the files of 'library' of the media on the Windows 7 machine and were reduced to a single folder in which the files do not change (that is, the files are added, deleted or changed between Xbox WMC launches).

This behavior is normal?  Is it possible to change it?  I can't find the settings on the Xbox that control it.

The local network segment is on the Internet, and the Windows 7 machine had all updates applied from the time of this post.  The Xbox is the new Xbox 360 4 gig, with more than 2 GB of free space on the internal memory and another 8 GB of free space on MU.

  • Windows media center xbox 360 connection problem

Hi, this is the message shown on the screen:

"Connection completed. The xbox 360 has been disconnected because and request launched unexpectedly UI. You want to reconnect? »

This occurs when WMC tries to connect with the Extender Setup. I followed all the steps to configure the Extender according to the microsoft Web site. But something does not work. HELP Please!

    Hi Riclop,

    Thanks for posting on answers.com.

First, disable the program anti-virus or firewall that runs on your computer and check if the problem persists.

Note: because some anti-virus software will cause conflicts between unexpected applications, please temporarily disable any antivirus, firewall or anti-spam on your computer programs.

This problem occurs if the floating language bar is enabled on the Windows Vista-based Media Center computer. This configuration closes the connection between the Media Center Extender and the Media Center PC.

To resolve this problem, change the settings of the Media Center Extender language bar. To do this, follow these steps.

Step 1: Configuring settings on the Windows Vista - based Media Center computer

    1. Click Start , type intl.cpl in the Start Search box and press ENTER.
    2. On the keyboards and languages tab, click Change keyboards.
    3. On the Language bar tab, click docked in the taskbar under options from the language bar.
    4. Click OK.
    5. On the administration tab, click copy to reserved accounts.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password, or click continue.
    6. Click on the checkbox by default (new users) user account , and then click OK twice.
    7. Click Startand then click Windows Media Center.
    8. Click tasks, and then click settings.
    9. Click Extender, and then on the Xbox 360.
    10. Click Uninstall, and then close Windows Media Center.

Step 2: Configuring the settings of the Xbox 360 console

    1. In the System of the Xbox interface section, select computers.
    2. Select Windows Media Center, and then press the A button.
    3. Select Disconnect.
    4. Press the B button repeatedly until you return to the System section.
    5. In the media of the Xbox interface section, select Media Center.
    6. Advance in the instructions on the screen to get the 8-digit setup key.
    7. Note the setup button.

Step 3: Configuring the settings on the Windows Vista - based Media Center computer

    1. Click Start and then click Windows Media Center.
    2. Click tasks, and then click add extender.
    3. Click Nextand enter the 8-digit setup key you obtained media of the Xbox interface section.
    4. Follow the prompts to complete setup of Windows Media Extender.

When you copy these settings for reserve accounts in the 1st step, you change the settings of language bar for all new users that are created on the Media Center computer. After you add the Windows Media Extender, you can reverse these changes so that all new users will have a floating language bar. To do this, follow these steps on the Windows Vista-based Media Center computer:

    1. Click Start , type intl.cpl in the Start Search box and press ENTER.
    2. On the keyboards and languages tab, click Change keyboards.
    3. On the Language bar tab, click floating on the desktop under the language bar options.
    4. Click OK.
    5. On the administration tab, click copy to reserved accounts.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password, or click continue.

    6. Click on the checkbox by default (new users) user account , and then click OK twice.

  • Windows media center xbox problem

I'm running on windows vista 64 bit, but I have a problem when connect my xbox 360 Media Center with my pc, they detect very well, but when they come to connect it disconnects the network of xbox and my pc... Help

    Hi Jonathan Thewlis

Do you get any error messages when you try to connect?

I suggest you temporarily disable the firewall, and check if the reconfiguration of the configuration solves the problem. If you are able to communicate properly with disabled firewall, then you must configure the firewall properly connect.

Don't forget to enable the firewall after troubleshooting gets completed that your computer will be at risk.

  • Running and Xbox 360 via Windows Media Center

Hello, I am a new student of college, and because my funds are limited I am using my Xbox 360 via my PC monitor. When I bought my computer, I got also a HDTV Tuner with composite video options. Through their software, I could connect my xbox and see it, but I was wondering if there was a way I could do it through Windows Media Center or something similar. I saw that there is a cable that goes from the Xbox to VGA, but I think that there will be problems with the sound (where I have the red/white audio cables?). Not sure if there is a converter or not, but like I said before, funds are limited. Thanks for all your help and I look forward to hear from someone as soon as possible.

    Tyler Campbell

    Hey TechTyler,

Since you have only one monitor and want to connect your PC and X - Box for the same monitor, I suggest that you try to find a separator that would help you get out of the XBox and the PC. You can use one of those to get the result on the same monitor of 2 devices. Who would use a VGA cable to connect 2 devices. You will be able to switch between your PC and the X - Box.You can try to search separator you can use to connect two monitors. I hope this information helps.

However, we at microsoft do not recommend or suggest one of these, you will need to use them at your own risk.

  • How do you play dubbed audio or subtitles in Windows Media Center Extender (Xbox 360)?

I know how to turn subtitles on my Windows Media Center PC, but there is no option to select audio dubbed or subtitled when you use Windows Media Center Extender. All my video files contain subtitles and audio dubbed foreign films.  My wife loves Spanish subtitles, because she has trouble understanding some English films.  I searched some forums and there are questions there but they have no definitive answers.  How a company billions of dollars developing a Media Center and leave out or miss crucial features like these? Please do not react with the thread on how to activate subtitles in TV Mode. Which does not apply to this question. The key word is EXTENDERS.

    Hi AnthonyWilson5

Subtitles should be coded in the movie view. These subtitles are automatically playing with video files. If the subtitles are a separate .srt file, then you will not be able to visualize everything by watching a video on the 360. There is no real turn option ON or OFF for subtitle in the Xbox 360.

But for more information you can even try to contact the expert Microsoft Xbox 360 team. Please visit the links below to find a community that will support what ask you in the right direction for Xbox 360.

  • Xbox 360 connects to Windows Media Center (Windows 7-64 bit)

I can't get my Xbox to connect to Windows Media Center.  When I ran Vista it would work, but now that I am on Windows 7, 64-bit, it just does not connect.  The strange thing is that I'm able to share media from my PC to the Xbox without fail.  In addition, Windows Media Center has detected the Xbox on the network.  But for some reason, the Xbox cannot find the Windows Media Center.  It makes no sense at all.  I even tried disabling the Windows Firewall to see if it would work, but it didn't.  There is no other firewall in my home network.  Help, please.

    Hi Imautobot,

You may need to configure the Xbox extender for Windows Media center for Xbox to work.

Step 1: Get the key Setup of Xbox 360
    1. on your console, go to my Xbox, and then select Windows Media Center.
    2. follow the on-screen instructions.
    3. write down the 8 digit Media Center Setup key.

Step 2: Add an Extender on your computer
    1 start Windows Media Center.
    2. click on tasks, and then click Add Extender.
    3. When prompted, enter Xbox 360 8-digit setup key.
    4. complete the configuration of the Extender.

  • Xbox 360 and Windows Media Center interfere with the operation of the Vista computer.

Since the implementation of an Xbox 360 for the family to use, turning power switch and return to the dashboard caused Windows Media Center on the laptop family to turn on automatically, which, in some cases, interrupts programs and blocks computer. Sometimes the computer will be same turns on automatically when the XBox is turned on.

I've done everything I can think of to stop the problem, including 'disconnect' XBox WMC in the "Uninstall" the XBox and the XBox settings in the settings of WMC. I do not anticipate using WMC in the near future, I just want to stop this crazy to happen.

Thanks in advance for any help and please ask if you need more information on my problem.

    Hello ebduhamel,

    1. what type of connection you have between the computer and the Xbox, it's a cable or a wireless connection?

    2. is it to wake up the computer from standby or everything just stops?

I suggest you try the steps below and check if you have the same problem.

This could be possible only if media sharing is enabled on your computer.

I suggest that you turn off media sharing and make sure you always have the same question:

    a. click the arrow below the Library tab, and then click media sharing.

    b. turn off media to find that others share and share my media to check boxes, and then click OK.

By clicking OK, you confirm that you want to turn off sharing for yourself. You will also be asked if you want to turn off sharing for everyone who uses this computer. Note that if you let one of the selected check boxes, some sharing services may continue to run in the background.

    c. When you are prompted to turn off sharing for everyone who uses the computer, follow these steps:

To make your changes apply to all users of your computer (including yourself), click Yes.

  • Xbox 360 scan windows media center for the new music?

I just added some new music to my windows media center and the music does not appear on my xbox 360. is there a way to synchronize?

    Hi nwills,

Ideally, the Xbox 360 should automatically scan if new music is added to Windows Media Center. However, you can also manually synchronize as follows.

a: you can connect the Xbox. The Xbox Dashboard, select 'My Xbox', then select 'Windows Media Center' to receive the eight-digit code. This code allows your Xbox to recognize your media player on your computer.

    b. you can set up Windows Media Center on your PC. Click on the "tasks" and select "Add Extender". A screen will appear asking you to enter the eight digit of your Xbox 360 code.

    c. play music on your Xbox. Select 'Windows Media Center' in the menu 'My Xbox' and start playing music.

Hope the helps of information. Please post back and we do know.

  • Windows Media Center extender on my XBOX works initially, but not after reboot of my XBOX. Error: Failed to connect to the Xbox 360 could not connect to the windows Media Center computer.

It's VERY odd and very annoying!

I set up my laptop next to my Xbox 360 with an Ethernet cable directly connecting the laptop to the XBOX, and the laptop is on our wireless network. The XBOX has access to the internet (shared through the laptop), and when I test the PC connection and the connection XBOX Live sound fine to all.

So I'll try to set up Windows Media Center, it works great! I "Add Extender", put the code to 8 digits. It passes through the installation, all works, no problems and WMC opens on the XBOX, I can go into my library, watch movies etc... works great!

However! As soon as I turn my XBOX off and back on, it will fail to connect to the WMC.

He says his 'find Windows Media Center PC' which seems to work fine, it goes to the ' Windows Media Center loading screen "contact...". ", and after about 10 seconds, I get an error"failed to connect the Xbox 360 could not connect to windows Media Center PC. Make sure that the PC is turned on and connected to the network.

I tried to configure the Extender repeatedly, whenever it works fine until I restart the XBOX... :/ - and its strange cause I still the internet connection (shared through the laptop) after turning on the XBOX, its really JUST Media Center which is screwing around.

She continues to keep trying to connect then repeatedly fails.

If I wanted to, I could re-configuration the WMC Extender EVERY TIME turn off the Xbox, which works the first time without fault, but that's all just stupid.

I can't really understand what is happening here... any help would be appreciated.

  • Xbox 360 Windows Media Center Extender does not connect after upgrade to Windows 7

Xbox 360 Extender worked fine on Vista Home Premium (32 bit). After the upgrade Windows 7 Home Premium (32 bit) on-site, when I turn on Xbox and the attempt to connect to Windows Media Center, you get an error saying unable to connect.

Back on the Windows 7 PC, I see the mcx1 file it under the users folder. But when I got to the tools, it says no set Extender in place.

Someone at - it suggestions on how to change settings in Windows 7 while the Xbox can connect?

Just in case someone encounters this problem, here is what I did:

    1. reboot the Xbox until Windows Media Center connects.
    2. back to the PC. Start Windows Media Center.
    3. go into tasks > settings > Extender
    4. Select Xbox 360 Media Center, then delete.
5 PC removes the old mcx1 folder used to use with Vista.
    6. start the Xbox, go to Windows Media Center
7 write down the code on Xbox's 8-digit ' display
    8. on the PC, you will be prompted to set up the Xbox extender
9 follow the instructions to enter 8 digit code
    10. new file will be created, mcx1-PCNAME.

    You're all set on 7.
