Windows Media Player 11 - DRM with OverDrive Media Console problem

I have WMP 11 installed on my laptop and Windows XP Professional.  When I try to download Audobooks of the public library using Overdrive Media Console software, I get the following error:

Error 0xC00D2751: A problem has occurred in the digital rights management component.  Contact Microsoft technical support.

I also noticed that when I click on the OverDrive Media Console software, the system information section States the following: "version of Windows Media Player DRM: .

I'm used to be able to listen to these audio books using the OverDrive Media Console, and Windows Media Player software.  Why I get this message now?  I would add that I recently had my laptop computer upgraded to a newer version that is different.  Can this be part of the problem?  How can I fix it?  Thank you.

Alex

This is because the ProgramData folder exists only under Windows Vista/7. To reset the DRM system, follow the instructions at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929642 (article mention Zune, but can be applied in more general cases too). Tim Baets

  • DRM with Overdrive Media Console error message

I have a HP pavilion dv5230ca laptop, under XP (SP3) with Wi - Fi and purchased in August 2006.  I would like to listen to audio books through our online library.  To do this, I downloaded the Overdrive Media Console application that is required.  When I perform the Windows Media Player Security Upgrade, which is required before any audio books can be downloaded on my computer, I get an error message: "this is a problem to retrieve the identification of digital rights management machine.  Contact Microsoft technical support.  When I go on the Microsoft site, it says if it is a software problem and the computer was purchased with the software already installed, and then contact the manufacturer (HP).  Before talking to someone at HP, I checked in your forum, but there seems to be no reference to my specific problem.

The only info I can add is that this laptop had an accident in 2007 and we took it to a professional to be restored.  Everything went well with it, except for this problem.  (I can't tell if this problem would have occurred before the accident that I tried to access the audio books so far).

I'd appreciate any help you can provide. Thank you

I found a solution to my problem.  I find the DRM folder on my computer (it is a hidden file, so first go to windows Explorer, tools, folder, view tab options, is selected * Show hidden files *, deselected * Hide protected operating system files).  Then to C/documents and settings / all users, and there it was.  Renamed * DRM.old* then through the procedure to update the Windows Media Player Security Update in the Overdrive Media Console software and update was successful and was able to download audio books immediately.  I hope this helps others.

  • Windows Media Center problem of input S-video

I have a HP m9350f running Vista 64-bit Home Premium.  It has a Hauppauge HVR-1800 TV tuner inside.  This card features a remote control with IR receiver is highlighted at the front of the minitower chassis.  The tuner and remote work fine through WMC with a 'digital antenna "as the source of signal to the card.

However, I'm trying to set up WMC also accept a S-video (or composite video) and audio of a combo Samsung DVD/VCR, VR-357.  WMC hesitate to second source because it can't find/see "IR control cable" on the remote control, so I can never finish the implementation.

I've seen some old posts that address this problem, but nothing that seems to apply to the HVR-1800.  What is someone is aware of all hotfixes to WMC or some other workaround for this stumbling block "IR control cable"?

The VR-357 has no RF output, so I can not simply designate as an "analog" with just the Ch antenna 3/4.  My next step is to go buy an old VCR to get Ch 3/4 output and this source from the TV card as an analog antenna, but that seems to be crazy having something to do with all this modern equipment!

Thanks in advance to anyone who has nothing to offer.

  • window media center problem

I can't do all window media center to work.

    Hello

Method 1:  Open the program by clicking on start > all programs > Media Center. If you are able to open the application from here then the shortcut could have corrupted and you may need to create a new shortcut icon.

    Method 2:
You can run an auditor of the system files on your computer. This will replace the corrupted in your operating system files.
Use the (SFC.exe) System File Checker tool to determine which file is causing the problem and then replace the file. To do this, follow these steps:
Open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click programs, accessories principally made, right-click Guest, and then click Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on allow.
Type the following command and press ENTER: sfc/scannow
The sfc/scannow command. analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions.

Try these steps and let us know the result.
  • Windows Media Center problem

I have ths same issues as the other 3 people. The first time I tried to use Windows Media Center it sabotaged several of my office and of programs on the start menu icons. Now, whenever I try to use these programs, the Media center load. I tried everything I know to do without success.

    Hello Aquarius_500,

1 are all the icons on your computer turned into Media center or just opens with Media Center?

I suggest that you try the methods below to resolve this issue.

    Method 1:

It seems to me that file on your computer is corrupted. You can try to do a restore of the system on your computer when it was working fine.

    a. Click Start, type system restore in the search box and then in the list click on the system restore program.

    b. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

    (c) in the System Restore dialog box, click on choose a different restore point and then click Next.

    d. in the list of restore points, click a restore point created before you started having the problem, and then click Next.

    e. click Finish.

You can check the link for more information below:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/system-restore-frequently-asked-questions

    Method 2:

You can try to manually change the file association. Here is a link you can follow and which will give you information about this:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/change-which-programs-Windows-uses-by-default

    Method 3:

Try to create a new user account and check if you have the same problem. This can be caused by a corrupted user profile.

To create a new user profile, follow these steps:

Note: To create a new profile, you must first create a new user account. When the account is created, a profile will also be created.

    a. open user accounts by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking user accounts and parental controls, and then clicking user accounts.

    b. click on manage another account. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    c. click on create a new account.

    d. type the name you want to assign to the user account, click an account type, and then click on create an account.

Note: Do not give the username for the user account.

  • Key and original Windows XP disc has activation with the re-installation problem

My old machine running on Windows XP Professional exploded in April. I bought a new one and installed the original software (performed by a technician here in SA) disc.

Microsoft raised a question on the authentic software and I provided all the originals to the Microsoft Help team, but my technician was to get Windows running again may 23 (after 8 days of waiting for a response from the Microsoft Help Center).

Today the Windows operating system were asked again for activation - but it says that it is enabled.

However I can not open a session.

    Is the product key: XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX

The bar code on the label said hologram: 99994-625-347-755 b X 12-08297

THE CASE WAS REFERENCE: 1177290811 and THE DATE was 22/23 May 2012.

I was dealing with Jatin Gandhi, who has not responded to me since last week when I sent him an e-mail on the caveat on the question of the activation.

I am running Windows XP because I have the drivers for instruments that are not upgraded to the other windows.

    Concerning

    Margie Hengstberger

    Hi Margie.

Let me start by saying that is a bad idea to share your first and last name on a public forum. It is just as bad validate your product key. Fortunately, it has been blocked or deleted.

Then, the majority of us who provide assistance here does not work for Microsoft. We are volunteers who give of our time and our knowledge. Therefore, your file number and the name of the person who helped you is of no consequence to us.

With that, on the way, we will, if we can solve your problem. It is clear from your message and correct me if I'm wrong, that you have a Windows disk that was used to install Windows Xp on your current computer by some technicians where you live. Validation/activation issues have emerged, now, with the current computer. Apparently the technicians who installed Windows on your current computer gave you the Windows disc. Am I correct so far? If not, please tell me what I'm missing.

In the interest of time assume that my interpretation of the scenario is correct. I would be very surprised if the disc you received is legitimate. It seems that the computer was in the period 30 trial when you received that would explain why you now get a request to activate Windows. The period seems to be very close to matching the scenario I described as well.

Personally, if it was my computer and I had paid someone (the technicians who installed Windows) to the computer or to install Windows, I come back to that person and ask it be fixed. I think maybe it's where is the problem and who is responsible for this problem.

For now, I will provide you with instructions to reset the trial period. However, the number of times that this is limited to four. Therefore, once the new trial has started, you will need to solve this problem one way or another, with technicians who have installed Windows on the computer.

    The trial of Activation reset:
    ------------------------------

    1 turn on your PC

2 repeatedly press F8 and go to Safe Mode

    3. connect according to the normal
(Note: administrator password is usually empty, or use the recovery password if CD does not know the password)

    4. leave the Office to fully charge (who answered "Yes" to continue mode without failure)
(Note: this is just a long way to say go to Safe Mode)

    5. click on start - run

6 type exactly: rundll32.exe syssetup, SetupOobeBnk (then click OK)
(Note: a single space after 'rundll32.exe' also the Oo are two letter o in "oobe"; capital and the comma are important)

    7. wait a few seconds (although you won't see any change)

8 restart your PC normally (start - stop - restart - Ok)

I use my local library's digital download service. I tried to download a digital book... and he tells me that I need to improve my 25.00.0 to 25.00.1 DRM... or something like that.

  • Vista / windows media center / missing mouse pointer

Hi I recently bought vista Home premium v6.0.6002.2.2.0.768.3 and have all the updates.

    I have 2 similar problems.
When I start windows media center I lose the mouse pointer and if I use alt - tab returns in other running programs such as office. so it seems only to be windows media center problem.
to exit the program I have to ctrl-alt-del and use taskmanger to complete the process, but even if it works sometimes.

I get a similar problem with other programs, especially when loading software.
It was not to display the error on the top window or place an item in the taskbar.

and I don't get to see if I minimize all other windows.

It's on a laptop Acer 1810 entered t oem installed with vista home premium.

    radar888,
The first thing you posted in the category Windows Update, but I moved this forum hardware and drivers.

However, in safe mode, your computer starts with generic basic hardware drivers.  That's why it will give an error that your video card is not good enough for Media Center.  The fact that the mouse works properly in safe mode indicates that you have a driver problem.  I would update ALL your hardware drivers (video, sound, NETWORK, touchpad, etc...).  Then test the position of the mouse.  You can check with the Acer site for drivers.  You can check with the hardware manufacturer for the latest drivers for your video card.

  • Windows Media Center will not record shows?

I just brought a new model of the series Gateway ZRX 6971, with touch screen

I have upgraded to Windows 8 Pro

Get the free download for Windows Media Center

Previously recorded shows that has been saved so I still had Windows 7 has played without problems in Windows 8

However, it won't save poster now because I have "insufficient disk space".

But I have over 900 GB of free space!

I tried to tweak the settings in the settings options and even tried to disable recording of HD!

    Still no luck!  Help!

See my post "Windows 8 - record TV with Windows Media Center problem"

The answer to my problem is in the penultimate position...

I managed to solve it now by running a recovery job in the computer management application.

In case anyone else has this problem, here's what I did:

    1. close Windows Media Center

    2. open the computer management application and navigate to the bottom of the tree in the left panel by selecting system tools-> Task Scheduler-> Task Scheduler Library-> Microsoft-> Windows-> Media Center

    3. at the top, the central panel find the "MediaCenterRecoveryTask" task, which should have a status of "Ready".  Right-click on the task and select run (status changes to "Running")

4 wait for the task to do his stuff (the status does not change) then right click on the task again and select end (State dates back to "Ready")

    5. open Windows Media Center, which will realize that there is a problem and that it is necessary to rerun the configuration

After the execution of the task above and completing a successful installer of Windows Media Center, I found I could record once more tv!

Guess I'll never know exactly what was wrong, but I'll settle for having working again!

    Hope that works for you

  • Computer crashes whenever I try to access Windows Media Center

Original title: windows media center problems

my computer freezes whenever I have attempt to access windows media Center and I can play downloaded vids

    Hi atthire,

    1. When did you start to question?

    2. you remember to make changes to the computer before this problem?

    3. you receive messages or error codes?

    4. what type of video files you try to play?

    Step 1:

This problem occurs if the Windows Media Center update process (Mcupdate.exe) cannot access the Windows Media Center data store. You may experience this problem if the data store is corrupted. So, try to rebuild the Media Center data store. To do this, follow these steps:

    a. exit Windows Media Center.

    b. remove the mediaCenterDataStore.db file. By default, this file is located in the following location:

    %SystemDrive%\ProgramData\Microsoft\eHome\mediaCenterDataStore.DB

    c. Click Start, run type, and then click Run.

    (d) in the Open box, type % systemdrive%\programdata\microsoft\ehome, and then click OK.

    e. in the details, click pane right mediacenterdatastore.db and then click on remove.

    f. click Yes to confirm that you want to move the Mediacenterdatastore.db file to the trash.

    g. launch Windows Media Center and check if the problem persists.

    Step 2:

You try to run a SFC scan to find and fix missing or corrupt system files.

You can read the following article to launch the SFC scan:

How to use the System File Checker tool to fix the system files missing or corrupted on Windows Vista or Windows 7
