Windows Media Player and Media Center do not play music more

I recently installed Microsoft LIfeCam Suite, and since then Windows Media Player v.11, as well as Microsoft Media Center won't play music.  Media Player is also very choppy with the video, which has never been.  I'm under CPU Intel Q6600 2.4 Ghz with 4 GB of RAM.   I have revive installation several times, without success, he says that the speakers are working properly.  I'm able to reproduce music with Quick Time Player, but I don't want to do that.  Help, please

    Hello

    Method 1:

I would suggest you click on the link provided below, proceed and check if it helps.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/972496

    Method 2:

You can also face this problem if your Windows Media Player database is damaged, you can delete the database of Windows Media Player. To do this, follow these steps:

    (a) output Windows Media Player.

    (b) click Start, run, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Media Player, and then click OK.

(c), select all the files in the folder and then click on Delete on the file menu.

Note: you don't have to remove the folders that are in this folder.

    (d) restart Windows Media Player.

Note Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.

If the above does not solve your problem then clear cache of database of Windows Media Player files. To do this, follow these steps:

    (a) output Windows Media Player.

    (b) click Start, run, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoftand then click OK.

    (c) select the folder Media Player and then click on Delete on the file menu.

    (d) restart Windows Media Player.

    Hope this helps

  • Windows Media Center will not play my video/DVD

I tried to play a video/DVD on my laptop and got this error:

"Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because there is a problem with the digital copy between your DVD player and the video card protection decoder. Try to install a driver available for your video card.

I went to the Device Manager in the control panel and everything was listed as up-to-date and working properly.  What should I do?

    Hello

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Answers.

It is obvious that the DVD is protected against copying. Therefore, you cannot copy the contents of the disc. But to read the DVD, you need a suitable decoder. If it is missing/corrupt/out of date, you may need to install the most recent.

Have you installed the readers of third party DVD like PowerDVD, WinDVD, etc.. ? If so, it should work.

I am running Windows XP Media Center Edition and Windows Media Center gives me an error that reads "Windows Media Center is not installed correctly and must be reinstalled." When I try to install Windows Media Player from the Microsoft website I gives me an error saying I need to download "Update cumulative 2 for Windows XP Media Center Edition". I download that and received a message that is not a valid Win32 application. I can not understand what is happening or how to fix it. I thought about uninstalling and reinstalling, but over the years, I lost track of the product key.  Does anyone know how can I fix? Thank you, in advance.

MSNBC on Windows Media Center has not updated on 23 February

I have seen a lot of posts about this, clock tried reseting, cleaning of temporary files, etc. nothing works. Is there no solution to this problem?

    Hello rewind,

You can try and dump the old contents by using the following:

    Former clear content

You will have to perhaps old content saved in the temporary folder of your browser that prevents you to see what's new on the pages of the site. To clear the temporary folder of your Internet Explorer browser:
    1. Close all browser windows and open Internet Explorer.
    2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
    3. In the tab general , in the temporary Internet files section, click delete files.
    4. In the Remove files window, check the delete all offline content box and then click OK.

I suggest you notification to MSNBC at http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3303511/#Old%20content

  • Windows Media Center Guide not updated lists of TV of Zap2It passed tuesday.21.07.15

Overview: Windows Media Center (WMC) is provided to ads of TV via the WMC Guide, of Zap2It.  If you go on the website of Zap2It TV listings *, about 2 weeks ago from future TV ads.  When the WMC Guide is set to day, & functions correctly, these same 2 weeks of TV programs are downloaded into WMC.  If we could use the Zap2It site to schedule the recording of television programs, then we would not need the WMC Guide to download.

It is very early Sunday asof this announcement; the WMC Guide didn't really update for about 9 days... There's only TV ads through Tuesday, in about 3 days.  The update of the WMC Guide seems to work fine, it connects with the site or the source or whatever/where he gets the Guide of... but they say, "The PSE Listing is already up to date", even if, obviously, is NOT "up-to-date".  I'm getting now, 'you only have 3 days of registration!, you must update the Guide!' scare-messages every time I go to the WMC, and I click on update the Guide, but all also when I manually run it, just as when WMC runs automatically update Guide, it isn't actually updated!

To be clear: I use Win7Pro64bit; -ALL-all the updates, Windows software & if not, are daily checked & constantly kept up to date; There has been no changes to the computer, & it works like a dream; WMC works the same, the update of the WMC Guide works exactly the same, the only exception being that, "that the EPG Listings package is already updated" thing, when he has actually updated the WMC Guide.

So Please do not post those standard, boilerplate answers for updating Windows & or by disabling caches & or such other hoax explosive...  The problem is almost certainly with the Microsoft, Windows, WMC, Zap2It interface.

You can go on the site Web of Zap2It * yourself!, go!, see for yourself!, the next 2 weeks of TV programs are here!...

... then, why are not those TV ads- already & always present -are actually downloaded to WMC?, why isn't the WMC Guide updated?

    ... Thank you!

You can see this thread, including the recent responses, the bottom of page 3 I think:

I'm NOT an expert on these things, but so are ' twisted my arm, I'd suggest the possibility of you as I did to RW:

«If you still have your Windows OS CD maybe you could try to remove & then reinstalling Windows Media Center entirely?...» I don't know there's a way to do it, but you do not want explicit instructions of any part/whatever ' one who knows what they have everything.  Also, if it is possible to do a total removal/uninstall & reinstall, - vs - a sort of "repair", I'd do the full thing, that simple "repair" can let WMC Guide EPG old and outdated files that could bring you a right of return to the same sorry state of affairs! »

    ... hank good luck!
