Windows Media Player cannot play the DVD because the disc prohibits playback in your region of the world. You must obtain a disc that is intended for your geographic region.
Windows media player dvd region
After you apply an update to the media player, I now get the error message
"Windows Media Player cannot play the DVD because the disc prohibits playback in your region of the world. You must obtain a disc that is intended for your geographic region. »
natuarally ive checked the area defined for the reader and even tried to re applying the region
I then noticed its doing the same thing with dvd stored on my media server, and while he would not even play MPEG or avi stored on my hard drive
I went to my comments to logon (standard user) media player works fine
so I'm back and tried to reinstall the mediaplayer to my admin login, it wouldn't let me not delete it, ran Media Player microsoft penalty shooter, he said everything ok
so I changed the guest account on an admin account to try to remove it from there, but as soon as I did this mediaplayer stopped working in the feedback connection that leads me to believe its a sort of level access virus, that has permeated the media player or a defect in this connection required to complete admin update media player

Hello, thanks for reading and helping me.
I try to play a legitimate, belonging to DVD, but Windows Media Player 12 will not play on my computer Windows 7 Professional. The DVD worked a few days ago, but all of a sudden, I get the following error message:
"Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because there is a problem with the digital copy between your DVD player and the video card protection decoder. Try to install a driver available for your video card.
I did a lot of research of these forums and on the ' net. Here are the suggested steps I tried without success:
- I tried VLC player. This works. However, rather than use this workaround, I wish to find a solution to my problem WMP/WMC.
- I tried several DVD for years over the last decade. These DVD works on my laptop, also running Windows 7 Professional and the shark 007 codec.
- I uninstalled my Shark 007 codec
- I tried other codecs (K-Lite)
- I assured that the latest drivers are installed on my video card, XFX ATI Radeon 5850
- I tried to uninstall Nero 9
- I tried to use the Windows 7 troubleshooting options:
- > Reading and burning CD, DVD and Blu - ray (no problem)
- > Windows Media Player DVD (no problem)
- > Windows Media Player Settings (detects a problem, wants to restore factory settings, every time, no matter what happens)
- A system restore to a time when the DVD was working did not resolve the issue
- The different links in Microsoft, I found in this forum about this problem do not seem to be useful. There is a link that points to the set-top boxes, but this page just says: "Windows 7 comes with a decoder.
- I assured the latest driver is available by going to "Device Manager", right click on the drive, then click on "update driver software".
- I assured that the latest firmware is installed directly from the manufacturer's website.
- I tried to reset my DRM by renaming the DRM under C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows folder and by going to this Web site to upgrade:http://drmlicense.one.microsoft.com/Indivsite/en/indivit.asp?force=1
- I've uninstalled and reinstalled Windows Media Player 12 and Windows Media Center via the function "functionality in Windows.
I would be very grateful if a Microsoft technology could chime. Thanks for your help!

I received the following message when trying to play a DVD:Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because there is a problem with the digital copy between your DVD drive decoder and video card protection. Try to install a driver available for your video card. I'm confused that nothing has been changed, added, or updated my system up-to-date. I am running Windows 7 Premium home 64-bit edition. DVD plays fine on my laptop with the same operating system.
CORRECTION OF THE PROBLEM.
I can confirm that it is a matter of the DVD CSS protection. MediaPlayer, being unable to decrypt the DVD protection.
Googled around for "DVD43". The installation program will install a driver that will successfully decrypt DVD protection and will allow you to PLAY the DVD MOVIE ONCE AGAIN!
Well, that's an alternative. All what I can say is that Microsoft Media Player is broken! -
When you try to play a dvd it (above) is displayed. Anyone know where I can be able to get a updated driver free for my video card, or in any other way to solve this problem. your help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

This is the message that I faced when I tried ti a watch a DVD I've seen countless times in y HP laptop. I read some answers here, but I do not understand something they are trying to say. I'm not technologically minded so pleaaaase can someone tell me what is happening?
Hi Abigayi lMcFadyen,
To prevent the illegal creation of digital copies of DVD, information on most of the DVDs are blurred. Your DVD decoder and Windows Media Player have software to copy protection that decodes the information on the DVD just before posting. If this software does not start successfully, you may receive this error.
Method 1: You will have to perhaps download and install the latest plug-in to do this, see the link below
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/downloads/Windows-Media-Player/plug-ins

I got no problem with Windows Media Player on my computer until today. I wonder how it happened and what I can do about it. I have never heard or seen this message before. Can anyone offer some friendly advice? Thank you very much.
If you are sure that it worked yesterday, a simple solution is to restore the system settings or the registry backup from yesterday, using #1 here. It works better if you do it in a week or so of a problem appears there (waiting more generally makes this less reliable solution). It is never risky however, you can cancel it even if you don't like the results, so it's a great tote bag if you do not know what caused a problem.

Our computer working again after installing a new hard drive and reinstall all Windows XP Home edition software from disks under Windows license, I got with the computer again. All software updates at the current level (SP3, etc.) have been downloaded. "But while I could play DVDs before the accident, I cannot now and the message reported by both, ' WindowsMedia cannot play the DVD because a DVD compatibledecoder is not installed on your computer.
Why did I have a decoder of media player before the crash, but not now? Before the accident, I had not bought any software DVD player or downloaded any free DVD playback software, it was on new Dell computer.
Windows xp does not come standard with a dvd decoder, so it must be installed. This would have been done by Dell when you purchased if you say that you did not.
You have all the disks in Dell? If so, get through them dvd playing software, common are windvd or powerdvd.
If this isn't the case, you will need to buy a.

DVD decoder not installed?
I went to play a DVD on my computer this evening and received this msg: Windows Media Player cannot play the DVD because no compatible DVD decoder is not installed on your computer.
A few weeks ago, I played DVD on my computer. I would like to know what is happening. Any ideas/suggestions?I tried to play one of the same DVDs I played before... same message. Nothing to my knowledge has been removed from my computer and I'm the only one with access... "very confused.
Thanks if anyone can help.
Yes, and if you install the utility on your system, you'll see all decoders.
The utility will also tell you if a decoder is compatible or not.
Using Media Player version 10 or 11?
the utility tells me I have no decoder... the only thing I can think is that if I actually deleted it... I rarely remove anything because I do not add a lot... but it is possible a few weeks ago, I have to get rid of some things (I'm quite cautious because I'm not an expert). It is the Media Player version 11, I was trying to use... but I rebooted now 10 to see if there was something to update related that mess.
because I used the VLC Player successfully, I have not yet tried Windows Media Player (since WMP reloading and load the codec pack)
So great to have the entry of a person who knows what he's doing. Thanks again. I will try the Windows Media Player later and see if I have his use of return.
Have a great day!
