Windows media player freezes

Windows media player freezes about five seconds after I opened the program.  If I start to play a song in the library, it stops about two seconds in the song and make a noise and freeze.  Help.

Hi Gobe4sting,

Method 1:

I suggest you delete the contents of the database of media player and check if this solves the problem.

a. click the Start button.
b. click on all programs.
c. click on accessories.
d. click on run, type the following to air filed:
Medial player %LocalAppData%\Microsoft\
e. click OK. Select and delete the files in this folder. Open Windows Media Player to initiate a rescan of your library.

Method 2:

Try to solve this problem with boot.
See the following Microsoft KB article:

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: After a repair, be sure to set the computer to start as usual as mentioned in step 7 in the above article.

  • 5 seconds before the end of each song, windows media player freezes about 1-2 seconds

    Hello

I'm having this problem with Windows Media Player. I use WMP12 to play songs in MP3 format. Just before each channel ends, approx. ~ 5 seconds before the end of each song, for example, the media player seems pauses / freezes for 1-1.5 seconds. The freeze/pause is defintiely not intentional - the gel looks as if WMP is having a problem reading from a file.

I searched but not solution yet discovered. I have turned on SRS WOW. I don't see as a problem because otherwise the songs play fine - disablying SRS WOW is not what you can call the problem. In addition, the reason why WMP stands out for me is its SRS WOW. If I'm not going to need SRS WOW, so I guess use VLC/MediaPlayerClassic, for example.

Please help me. Thank you. The gel all spoils!

Yes, you can try to uninstall the current driver first.

If this does not help, I suggest you check out the real manufacturer of the sound card. If the sound card is not made by Samsung, then it is possible that you will find newer drivers on the website of the real manufacturer.

  • Windows Media Player Windows 7 freezes during playback.

My Windows Media Player will crash occasionally Windows 7. This happens when I play an entire album ripped to my computer and I click next to move to the next song. This has happened on several different albums and can't get on the same track. Hello silvanfay,

When you get the blue screen on your computer? What were you doing when it appeared?

Have you changed your save location of your music files?
If so, to try to resolve the problem, open Explorer, under libraries, click the music tab and click Properties. Now make sure that your backup folder of choice is defined as your backup location. If not, click it and then click on the button "game save loction". It is perhaps one of your configuration settings which are not correct.

Have you tried to reset your Windows Media Player in "programs and features"?

  • Windows Media Player crashes

I have a Pavilion laptop dv7 (P/N VZ500PA #ABG) running Windows 7, and even if I was using Windows Media Play on this computer for 18 months without any problem, recently it started to freeze on me sporadically. When I open a folder I noticed that it takes a long time (more than normal along...) I'm guessing 20 seconds) to answer. When I play a file she also occasionally ignores, and it has nothing to do with an error in the file.

I'd be gratefule for any help that you could provide. Thank you in advance.

In case anyone cares, I gave up on Windows Media Player because although some of the solutions provided in this thread solved the problem temporarily, it would start eventually freeze up again. So I downloaded Winamp, which freezes if I try to use to play the CD (but not Windows Media Player) and works perfectly when I use it to play MP3s (where Windows Media Player does not work). Unhappy that he had to come to this, but it seems to be the most effective practical solution.

  • Windows Media Player crashes when you open a file

The player program freezes when I try to open a video file from Windows Media Player.

However, when opening a video file (right click > open with > Windows Media Player) the video plays normally.

A month ago, has worked these two methods.

Windows XP SP3 with all updates

    Windows Media Player 11

If her videos only in a specific folder, you could try to reconnect all, delete the old folder and renaming this new or possibly leaving the new folder with a different name.

  • Windows media player crashes when you start cd play

When I insert a CD in windows media player, screen freezes when cd starts playing and the sound is chopy.

    Hi RonnieDean,

    1. Did you the latest changes on the computer?
    2. Are you experiencing a similar problem with a CD you are trying to play using Windows media player?
    3. You have security software installed on the computer?

    Method 1

See the link below and run the fixit tool available, check if it helps.

Solve the problems of Windows Media Player video and other media or library

    http://support.Microsoft.com/mats/windows_media_player_diagnostic/

    Method 2

If the previous step fails, then it is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is causing the problem.

I suggest that you configure the computer in a clean boot state and check if it helps.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows XP by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

See section to learn more about how to clean boot.

How to configure Windows XP to start in a "clean boot" State

Reset the computer to start as usual

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

    1. Click Start , and then click run.
    2. Type msconfig , and then click OK.
The System Configuration utility dialog box appears.
    3. Click the general tab, click Normal Startup - load all device drivers and services , and then click OK.
    4. When you are prompted, click restart to restart the computer.

    2. the problem only happens on any specific video or videos?

    (a) click Start, click run, type desk.cpl, and then click OK.

    (b) click on the settings tab and then click Advanced.

    (c) in the performance tab or on the Troubleshooting tab, move the Hardware Acceleration slider completely to the left.

    (d) click OKand then click close.
