Codecs: Frequently asked questions

Step 3: Check if you have the latest video drivers installed on the computer. You can log on to the computer for the same manufacturer site. Also, check the latest Windows updates. Check if all related drivers are available in the optional updates.

Install Windows updates

  • Windows Media Player seems to automatically organize my music filed manually.

I have a set of music that I use for a class.  I had arranged it in a folder in my music and I put the album folders.  My problem is that whenever I use it, Windows Media player seems to take my music on records, which I had spent time organize and put it in a folder of artist, followed by an album folder.  I was wondering if I could get more information on the functioning of this feature and how to disable or even better, how to disable it for specific folders (which would be even more useful).

I know that most music players are really interested in the Organization of file - they just put together all the music files in a list and sort by album, artist, etc..  I would like to be able to control the organization record since it does not matter to the program, but it is important for me.  I use usually just Windows Explorer to organize my music is a bit frustrating when WMP wants to take care of the Explorer for me! ;-)

Maybe it was the wrong part of the forum to ask the question, I asked originally, but I found the solution in any case. Apparently, I just needed to go to the menu of options of Windows Media Player 12, go to the Library tab and uncheck the "Rename music files using rip music settings" and "Rearrange music in rip music folder, using rip music settings," which I believe have been enabled by default.

  • Windows Media Player takes a long time to open and search

Slow initialization of WMP 12, research and classification.

    IM under W7 Ultimate 64.
When I start WMP12 it takes much more time to initialize that WMP11 on vista, 2 minutes before I can even start by selecting music.
If I do a search it also picks up a similar amount of time and locks (graying out, slider timer). Once I have a bunch of songs loaded on the screen, say a playlist with 200 songs and then click a tab as a note it takes 30 seconds to REList per category during this time it hangs again.
I have about 40,000 songs in my library. I have rebuilt the library and the database now resides on a second disc which did not make a difference.

    (1) what someone else with similar problems and found a solution?
    (2) is it possible to replace it with WMP11 which worked perfectly and was much more intuitive?
    (3) can anyone recommend a replacement player who has gapless playback and fast database access?

    5. click on OK.
    6. When you are prompted, click on restart.
    7. after the computer starts, check if the problem is resolved.

If the problem is resolved to check what is the cause of the problem, referring to the link given below:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

    8. in addition, you will need to uninstall and reinstall the software problem on your computer.

  • In Windows Mdia Player 11 - how to import my music and custom to a new computer columns.

    The title is my question.

    Hi Robin Maroney.

You cannot copy the custom Windows media player to another computer columns.

The custom 1 and custom 2 fields are saved only in the database of the library and is written in current music files, so they cannot be transferred to another computer.

If you want to import all songs from the Windows media on another drive, you will need to copy the music files to the location where they are saved on the computer and then transfer them to the new computer.
