Windows media player that gives poor quality (Fuzzy, bands)? (Windows 8)

Hey, guys.

I want to just pass this along to someone who is having problem with Media Player in Windows 8.

Windows Media Player fuzzy or banded?

You can do as well in Windows 8.

Also, if you have Windows 7, you can also follow these steps.

First of all, let's try this.

  • Go to the start menu and type features that should appear "programs and features" options > select it.
  • Then, on the left, select the option that says "Turn Windows features on or off".

Should look like this:

  • After that, a box should appear. Select the Plus sign (+) next to the option that says "multimedia functions".

Then make sure and uncheck the box next to Windows Media Player

Now, a box appears, press Yes.

After that you click Yes. Reboot the laptop.

Once the laptop has rebooted, you will need to return to the same settings, then check the same box unchecked you earlier.

Once that's it try again using Media Center.

Hope it will be useful.

  • Problems with error Windows Media Player, that Windows Media Player is not installed on the computer.

We have a computer that is running Windows 7 and (I think) Windows Media Player 12.  When I start ==> all programs ==> windows media player, the program starts and it seems to work.  It is a work computer, so no video or audio file is saved.

We have an online seminar that the user wants to participate in, and when we click on the link to get the webinar, an error message appears saying that Windows Media Player is not installed on the computer.

We use Firefox (version reasonably updated, but do not know which) for internet.

I used the "fix it" tool on the website of Microsoft, but that does not solve anything.  He said it sets some configuration settings.  I thought that maybe uninstall and reinstall it can work, but I can't understand completely uninstall because it isn't in my list of programs in the control panel.

    Any suggestions?

Thanks for any ideas you may have.

    Nolan

    (Moved to programs)

Uninstall and reinstall could be done by searching for and opening the option "turn on or off Windows features", but I don't think it will help.

Instead, what you need is a Windows Media Player plugin for your browser (Firefox).

But before you spend effort on it, I would test to see if it's really the solution.  Try to join your webinar with Internet Explorer (where the WMP plugin is built).  If it works, you can be reasonably sure to know how to make it work with Firefox.

  • I'm trying to implement the discoloration of the music (you know when a song fades to another it fades) in windows media player that you can in Windows Vista. Is this something they have taken away from Media Player?

    Help, please

    Hi garykholden,

Thank you for visiting Microsoft Answers.

Windows 7 is Windows Media Player default 12. You can cross fade music in Windows Media Player 12 as well.

Press the Alt key to display the menu bar, then go to view menu to select improvements in the menu dropdown. The next option to highlight are:

    · Fade-chained volume and auto leveling.

Another method to display enhancements menu in WMP12 is to click on the list on the upper right to display the playlist, and then click the button at the end of the Playlistpane and then go to enhancements menu item to display all the options available.

    Kind regards
    Amal-Microsoft Support.

  • Y at - it a media player that supports MKV files

original title: support for MKV files

I have a large library of video files to MKV format and want to use the operating system WinRT to play.  I don't know a player in the store to play.

I use Divx on my Win8 system in desktop mode and works very well.

Anyone know of a player for MKV files (created with Handbrake using the H.264 codec) which would run on Win RT (IE on the Surface).  H.264 is apparently corroborated but nothing to play the MKV form.  I really don't want to have to convert my entire library.

I wanted to test what I did the following:

    X 86 (no - RT based machine)

    • Cut an avi of 700 MB to about 16 MB file to test
    • MKVMerge to convert from .avi .mkv on my x 86 machine
    • Put this new file .mkv on a USB
    • This USB plugged my camera Windows RT
    • Notification showed asking me what I wanted to do with the USB key, I asked to open the folder
    • Choose the .mkv file and was asked to go to the MS Store and there are seven apps that came on the list.  On the list, I chose the PressPlay video application (which is free) and I have read the file without problem .mkv

    I hope this helps.

    Thank you

  • What Media Player download that is compatible with windows 7 HP enterprize

To anyone who might be able to help. I searched most of microsoft for an answer, but it seems to work around the race. I am looking for a media player that is compatible with my Windows 7 Enterprize 64-bit w/service pack one installed. Totally confused on this one. If Microsoft does not have to install it, what are the choices to install a media player that would be compatible. I tried RealPlayer. This is not a huge success for a media player to this computer. Thanks to all those who may be able to solve my problem.

    Sincerely yours.

    Ray

Try VLC.  Just Google it.  Free.  Quite universal and one of the most highly recommended.  It is my practice to install this in the PC to all my clients.
