Windows Media Player turns on by itself

I had a problem with Windows Media Player acting on itself, forcing himself to the front as the dominant program.  This is not the case when I boot up, but rather at random, usually when I'm games.  It will automatically turn on, forces itself upward, and even when I close it, it immediately turns on again.  He dominates so much that I can't even in the start menu to shut down the computer.  Usually, I have to do Ctrl/alt/del and then stop the pc from there.  Reboot and then it will be fine.  It's totally random, sometimes not happening everyday, then happening several times.  Someone at - he heard of this or know how I can fix?  Thanks in advance for any help :)

Hi vegaz70,

Have you been able to solve the problem by changing the multimedia keys?

You may have to the Windows Media Player application to start when a specific action is executed (fired) by using the Task Scheduler.

Delete the task (Windows Media Player to start) in the Task Scheduler. To do this, follow the steps mentioned below:

(a) click Start , and then look for Task Scheduler. Click on Task Scheduler under program.

(b) in the Task Scheduler, click Task Scheduler Library in the left sidebar, you will see the list of scheduled tasks. Select the task and click on remove in the right sidebar.

For more information about Task Scheduler

I would like to know if the problem is resolved or you need help

Thank you, and in what concerns:

  • Windows Media Player keeps opening by itself. Whenever I close it, it opens upward again.

Also, when it is open, it keeps dominant control of pc by making the application active every few seconds.  If I go into another window it comes down soon to WMP as the active application.

This is a new computer.  He did not at first, but began to arrive a few days after installing iTunes.  I realized that I was still running SP1 of Vista so I downloaded and installed SP2.  He ran for awhile ok then after a few hours of running WMP began to open again.

Sometimes he begins to start and sometimes it starts after the computer is running.  The last time he started to happen, I was in the middle of another windows update software and was not actively working on the computer.  Just run the update.

It won't let me be disable it with the Task Manager.  As soon as I stop the application it opens right away again.

I searched my card documents and settings of virus with the latest free version of AVG and it is came with a Trojan infection and moved to the vault. This solves the popping up of WMP: D!

In addition, the Trojan horse was named "Agent2.BMMK Trojan horse"
See you soon and I hope this has been useful to some ^^
EDIT: I have the Lycosa keyboard also but have never had a problem with WMP pop-ups until today. Could be the keyboard, but there still everything went well after the removal of the Trojan horse.

Alternatively, you can fix the problem by disabling the process using the media player:
    1. press Ctrl + Shift + Esc, this will bring up the Task Manager, right-click Windows media player in the Applications tab and select go to process. This will bring you to the processes tab with the process highlighted for you. Right-click on the process and select tree to complete the process . This will close the Windows Media Player.

    2. open another music file by double clicking it. Close Windows Media Player by clicking on the close (X) button for the player.

    This will fix the problem.

Windows Media Player is not a video editor... If you can import

I want to use windows media player and send music to my active bluetooth speaker. The screen saver does not undertake, and I fear that the monitor will be damaged without being turned off or go to the econ. I have a sony vaio e series laptop.
