  I recently opened Media Center and I had no music in the library. I have constantly played music from the library so I didn't know what is happening. I went to check if Windows media Player is the multimedia file sharing. The message I get from that is, basically, that something is missing.  Now my Windows Media Player is not even opened. I wonder if my Zune Player (80 GB) has nothing to do with the problem. I charge my player when this has happened, but I do this all the time so I am at a loss. I went to the page "problem reports and Solution." It is the symbol of the Media Center window and says that the problem is caused by Windows. The solution is to update to windows; which I am fully updated. I tried to restore the system to an earlier date, but that doesn't work anymore. I'm at a loss to know what being of any help would be appreciated.

  As a side note video playback, TV and photos also works very well in Media Center.

  You can try the following steps and check the result:

  Step 1: Run the sfc scan to repair system files missing and corrupt.

  a. Click Start, click programs, accessories principally made, right click Guest and then click Run as administrator.

  If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on allow.

  b. type the following command and press ENTER: sfc/scannow

  The sfc/scannow command. analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions.

  If the problem persists, try the reconstruction of the library:

  Step 2: Library rebuild Windows media player.

  This problem can also occur if the library is corrupted. Rebuild the library and check if this solves the problem.

  Follow these steps:

  1. exit Windows Media Player.

  2. click on start, run, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Media Player, and then click OK.

  3. Select all the files in the folder and then click on Delete on the file menu.

  Note: You don't have to remove the folders that are in this folder.

  4. restart Windows Media Player.

  Note: Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.

  If this does not resolve the problem, disable the Windows Media Player database cache files. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. exit Windows Media Player.

  2. click on start, run, type % LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft, and then click OK.

  3. Select the Media Player folder, and then click on Delete on the file menu.

  4. restart Windows Media Player.

  Maybe your security software prevents this? What security software currently installed and have you tried to disable it temporarily?
  Given that this occurs only with your Gmail account, I'd be willing to bet that they have in place security measures to prevent reading straight out of email attachments.

  How have you tried to uninstall and re-install Windows Media Player 12?

  Uninstalling and reinstalling Windows Media Player:
  Step 1.
  Uninstalling Windows Media Player:
  1. go to start and in the search type "Turn Windows willing or not.
  2. click on "Turn Windows features on or off".
  3. search for multimedia and uncheck the brand in the face of Windows Media Player.
  4 restart the computer
   
  Step 2.
  Reinstall Windows Media Player:
  1. go to start and in the search type "Turn Windows willing or not.

  Try the methods below to resolve this issue:

  Method 1:

  Reduce hardware acceleration (or turn off) video hardware acceleration (if supported by your video card)

  1 open the screen resolution by clicking on the start start button Picture button, click on the Panel, and then, under appearance and personalization, click on adjust the screen resolution.

  2. click on advanced settings, click the Troubleshooting tab, and then click on change settings.

  3. move the hardware acceleration slider to none to reduce or turn off video hardware acceleration.

  Method 2:

  If you are not able to play all the files, make sure that the right codecs are installed on the computer for videos to play in Windows Media Player and Windows Media Center.

  Help! Last year, Internet Explore kept closing (Data Execution Prevention) so I switched to Firefox, which is great, but since then Windows media Player will not work.   First thing that you do not run windows 95 if your build number is 2600.XP_SP3 it is a build number of windows XP.  Second, you will not be able to play DVDs using this version of windows and media player only.  The reason for this is DVD is a standard that a group of companies shut down and basically, they demand rights fees to use, it codec, which you don't have. You will need get a program that has integrated these codec (or find them somewhere).  Your best option for this is to completely abandon the but of the using Media player to play your DVD (unless you are looking to buy another piece of software).  There is a free option that I use on my machine Windows 7 Basic its called VLC is a free player that makes just about every format out there (not sure Bluray).  VLC uses its own codec (I think it's developed for the linux community orginially) rather than using the codec of the industry.  You can find the program at http://www.videolan.org/
