Windows Media Player (Windows 7) DVD playback problems

In the last two days Media Player has stopped playing DVDs. It did not come with error messages and there is no available updates. If I restart my computer then it will play the disc, but often will not play another disc if I try to play it after.

Sometimes the DVD opens onto the menu screen and sometimes he'll try to play without sound, but invariably, he quit playing and returns to the screen with the options to "Play a DVD" or "go to the library. Why suddenly started it all is there a way to fix this without having to restart my laptop whenever I want to watch a DVD?

I suggest you follow the methods:

Method 1:

Step 1:

You can try to run the Windows Media Player settings Troubleshooter and check if this solves the problem. Check out the following link to do the same thing:

Open the troubleshooter in the Windows Media Player settings.

  • Problem with Windows Media Player Audio sync DivX playback in full screen

    Hello

I have found lately that when playing videos on Windows Media Player divx mode full screen audio is out of sync.  If the video is played in window mode, there is no problem.  I had no such problem in the past, but now for about 1 month or so, I have this problem.

I have fitted iq508a to vista 64-bit, with the latest drivers delivered HP installed (using the HP update utility)-does anyone else have this same problem too?

    Thanks in advance

I can't believe! I solved the problem with this problem of video audio sync during playback in full screen!

While watching the Pineapple Express, I thought WTF I'll take another closer look at this, and while they were smashimg their cell phones so that they could not be found by triangulation, (don't ask - u just I have to watch - stoner movie )...

in any case, I looked under tools options in WMP.  I unchecked the option on the performance tab "use video smoothing"-the video as reloaded and bingo! everything in harmony!

BTW, I checked my another PC running Vista 32 bit and the option ' use video smoothing ' also exists and it is checked if this seems to be a problem with WMP works on Vista 64 bit or running desktop Touchsmart of WMP... In case I am much happier now...

  • My recently downloaded Windows Media Player 11 play dvd, audio cd and cd rom, but will not recognize two photos of the dvd which have been able to acknowledge by Media Player 10 and record of the Explorer Windows-with some difficulty

    1. Windows Media Player 10 has opened a photo successfully dvd but a message "Microsoft has encountered a problem and needs to close" came on the screen several times.  Had to re insert the dvd picture, but it would open again each time.
    2. Tried the cd drivers and troubleshooting dvd and was informed of my dvd could not be played because there was no decoder for dvd.  Following instructions and chose a windows xp approved decoder pack download - dvd has chosen the Roxio CinePlayer DVD Decoder Pack.
    3. Then upgraded the media player to Windows Media Player 11.
    4. After that, dvd and cd rom could be opened by the media player 11, but neither the DVD or cd ROM readers would recognize the photo DVD in question had been inserted into one of these discs, and even less to be opened by the media player.
    5. Program scanner and photo used to transfer my photos printed digitally on a dvd are trademarks of Hewlett-Packard.  Contact the center of the photo, but they could not provide me with any guidance or even particular HP photo program they used to create the dvd picture.  I remember the photos were stored on the dvd in JPEG format picture and was able to open by Windows Explorer before I've updated since WMP 10-11.

"" I remember well, the pictures are stored on the dvd in JPEG format picture and was able to open by Windows Explorer before I've updated since WMP 10-11 ""

Looks like you have a data dvd, which has just the pictures on it and it will not be seen by WMP, who needs a dvd-video disc.

It should always open in windows Explorer and you should be able to see your pictues it.

  • ActiveX: Open a separate window of Windows Media Player 9 and control playback

    Hey all,.

I'm trying to open a video in WMP4 automatically in Labview and control. There is an existing ActiveX container, but it remains on the front panel. I can control its playback, but can not pause and resume.

I can also open the video in a window outside of LabView through Labview WMP9, but I was not able to control. Simply run it and then watch until it ends. It is the preferred operation, I need to understand.

    LabView version: 8.6

ActiveX application: Windows Media Player 4

    OS: Windows XP

    My questions are:

    (a) how to pause and resume a video file, if you use the ActiveX with LabView container ensures

    (b) how could I access an instance outside WMP open through LabView playback controls (because I want to automate reading based on acquired signals)

Note that the ActiveX refnum is WMP4 while the version on XP is WMP9.

Thanks in advance for your help,

  • Windows Media Player and Cyberlink DVD Power

    Hello

I have a two part question: 1) how is it that when I try to use Windows Media Player to play my DVDs on my computer, it will automatically switch to the Cyberlink Power DVD program? and (2) can someone tell me why Cyberlink Power DVD program plays all DVDs, some DVDs I try to play on my computer just end up in an empty black screen?

    Thank you.

    Hi Barry,.

It seems that the default program to play DVDs is changed to Power DVD.

    1. you can choose a different program by changing the AutoPlay settings. Read the following article, and then select Windows Media Player for the categories you want than the media player to read.

    Change AutoPlay settings

    2. regarding the question of Power DVD, it is possible that the program does not play certain file formats. Visit the Web of Power DVD and check the types of files supported by the program.

  • Windows 7 Professional 32 bit and Media player 12 play DVD files on the hard disk of the PC.

I want to be able to read dvd files (vob files) with media player 12 by selecting the folder and then just click on play like no other product like power dvd or nero showtime, but I don't understand how to do this with wmp12.  Also why can I not add the vob files to the media library with wmp12?  Vob files appear in the Windows libraries outside wmp12, but when I add a folder to your video library in wmp12 they never appear in areas of the screen to play.  Wmp12 not allow vob files to add to the library or what?  I intend streaming files my blu - ray player from my network home using dlna.  All the other files except the vob files will flow from wmp12.  Whats up with that?
