Windows Media Player won't launch

I try to open Windows Media Player on my Vista 64 and get the following.  It is a recent issue; He has worked in the past.

The file wmploc.dll has a version number of 11.0.6002.18111 where 11.0.6001.7000 was expected.
Windows Media Player is not installed correctly and must be reinstalled.
You want to install from the Microsoft Web site?
When I go to the site it says that there is no download because it is part of the Vista operating system.  Can anyone help?  Thnx.

I started to have problems with other applications (windows install and windows livemail, etc.) and trying to follow recommendations for each, finished paralyzes my entire system so ended up doing a full blown recovery.  So even though scary and painful, all is now well.  Thanks again for your help.

ZIP files are compressed, so you need to unzip and then play the content if the

Windows Media Player won't rip CD more. I put it in MP3 format. I get the COOD1OD2 error message, and by virtue of the clarification it indicates that the error message is COODOFBO which says that the setting of the CD in Device Manager do not match parameter of cd in the drive. I use to be able to rip the CD months ago. I just upgraded to WMP 11 because the sansa clip has not been recognized and updated WMP. How can I fix this.

I've been running a HPa6130n for the past four years with Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit. Today, I tried to start Windows Media Player, but it would not launch. Is not very clever to solve problems of this nature I don't know what to do. I tried to launch Media Player anyway, I know, but without success. I tried the solution that has been in the "find answers" section but that did not help. No matter what I click on Media Player does not open. It is as if she is no longer in my programs (but it shows that it is). Any suggestions?

I prepare a thesis on slide TV show which will be sent to about 100 people.  It is the DVD-R format and will probably be played on DVD players for which there should be no compatibility issues.  Some will want to see on their computers, however, and this is where the problem arises.  I use mostly WinDVD, so I have no problem, but what do the people who have that WMP?

I don't understand why WMP should do by default.  Do I say to people who want to see the DVD on his computer?

  • Windows Media Player won't let me burn CD, "connect a burner and restart the player."

I use to be able to copy CDs on my computer. Windows Media Player now, says "connect a burner, then restart the player."

There must be something simple that I know, I'm just bad at computers :)

    Hello

Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue
    below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward
cable or slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and
contacts data with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

    ===============================

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD
Burn and CD and DVD read). So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 operational so that other parts
    do it right.

Did you follow the Troubleshooting Guide for the reader who still does not work? There are
the entries in registry that the troubleshooter does not solve and those who "might" be the cause.

Check with your Maker system and a device for the two possible firmware updates and
the correct registry entries for your car.

Here are the keys that I of course are those in question - for the subkeys of the CD/DVD drive
as there will be other subkeys in these keys. Do not forget to ask specific keys involved as well as
    the parameters.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\IDE

It's a little weird.  When you play any of the music or video in media player, if you click on it X or exit the application, it is supposed to stop playing music or video.  The problem I have is that it is not.  He continues to play in the background and I can't figure out how to let him stop playing.  I have to finish ebb in media player and hit close then exit.  Even then I'm not sure its background nteh entirely closedi.  How can I get windows media player to exit when I type the exit?  I can't find anything in the options that it says must remain open in the background and continue to play.
