Windows Media Player won't let me rip a CD, the error message indicates that they cannot find the file

Is watching the guys, I think not that this is a 7 days without some kind of sleep problem, but I can't work out why Windows Media Player 12 will not rip a CD I put it in, I get an error message saying that Windows Media Player cannot find the file I'm tearing and maybe it is moved renamed or deleated in the meantime that my CD is in the CD/DVD drive waiting to be fooled on my laptop Windows 7 64-bit. I ripped the CD loads before but I had to reinstall a complete a month ago, and this is the first time I tried to extract anything on my laptop. If anybodys got any ideas on how to solve this problem, my inner peace would be much more peaceful MCE! Cheers and Happy New Year to the United Kingdom, I wish you a good and peaceful 2014.  Rich.T

I use to be able to copy CDs on my computer. Windows Media Player now, says "connect a burner, then restart the player."

There must be something simple that I know, I'm just bad at computers :)

    Hello

Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue
    below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward
cable or slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and
contacts data with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

    ===============================

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD
Burn and CD and DVD read). So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 operational so that other parts
    do it right.

    Hi Kathy,

What happens when you try to play or download them? Nothing at all? You get an error message? If what makes say exactly Word for word including all codes? What version of WMP are you using?

Despite your comment about other media players "support for the entire system" (what means exactly what it means and what other media players are helps you - names and versions)?, I would suggest you download and try free VLC Media Player: http://vlc-media-player.en.softonic.com/.  He helped a lot of people with problems WMP.

If it does not or you do not want to use a different media player, so you know when this problem started?  Try a system restore to a point in time BEFORE the problem started.  Here is the procedure: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/76905-system-restore-how.html.  Don't forget to check the box to show more than 5 days of restore points.  If the first attempt fails, then try an earlier point or two.  NOTE: You will need to re - install any software and updates that you have installed between now and the restore point, but you can use Windows Update for updates.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

    Hello

This could be due to problems with Windows Media Player database might be corrupted.

You did the changes for the Windows Media Player settings or files associated with it before this problem?

As with any database, the information that is stored in the database or the database itself can be damaged. The Windows Media Player library database can usually recover automatically from the database. However, the database may be corrupted in such a way that Windows Media Player is unable to recover the database.

I suggest you to rebuild the database and check if it solves the problem for you. Follow the steps:

    Method 1:

    You can follow the steps:

    (a) press simultaneously the Windows and R. box, type the following command and press ENTER:

    %LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Media Player

(b), select all the files in the folder, and then click delete in the menu file.

Note: You don't have to remove the folders that are in this folder.

    (c) restart the Windows Media Player.

Note: Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.

Check if you are able to add files to the list of add-in player. If this is not the case, proceed to the next method.

    Method 2:

Follow the steps to solve the problem:

    (a) press Windows and R key together. Type the following command and press enter:

    %LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Media Player

    (b) select the Media Player folder, and then click delete on the File menu.

    (c) restart the Windows Media Player.

Note: Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.

For reference, you can check this link:

  • Windows Media Player 11 Date added function - please stop repeating the date for EACH file.

I have been using Media Player 9, decided to upgrade to Windows Media Player 11, and the only thing I can not stand on Player 11 is how it sorts Date added media files.  In Player 9 when I chose the column Date added, the program would list all the files on a given under a SINGLE date.  With Windows Media Player 11 it lists EACH file with a date so that instead of see Tuesday, December 14, 2010 once and then listing all of the files under it, I see Tuesday, December 14, 2010 about twenty times.  I download podcasts once a week and dump it on my phone, but it's a worry now.  Is it possible to stop Windows Media Player 11 to repeat the date again and again and force him to the date that the list only once?  Think back to Player 9.  Alex

    Hi Alex103,

It's design in Windows media player 11 and it is also included in Windows Media player 12.

However, you can uncheck this option, follow the steps below:

    a. open windows Media player

    b. right-click on one of the sorted column

    c. click Choose column

    d. uncheck data added
