Can someone help me how to solve this problem. Thank youI am unable to play the video file and get the error "Windows Media Player cannot play the file because the required video codec is not installed on your computer."
Can someone help me how to solve this problem. Thank youMay be that the video file format is not compatible with Windows Media Player.
Options: -.
1] download and install VLC Player. It's free and supports file formats more than WMP.
2] download and install the codecs
Personally, I prefer VLC Player-if you have that then not need to download and install the codec of any third party.

Hello
Welcome to the Microsoft Community forums.
I understand that you are not able to play a Webinar on the windows computer using Windows Media Player 8.
I would be grateful if you can provide us with the following information to help us better understand the issue.
1 you get an error code or the name of the codec to install?
2. are you able to play other files with Windows media player?
3. What are the file format of the multimedia files that you are not able to play using Windows media player?
4. are you referring to the video file saved using Webinar?
This problem is caused if the file format is not supported by windows media player.
Codec compresses or decompresses media files. Windows media player uses codecs to play and create media files.
See the link below for the types of files supported by windows media player.
https://support.Microsoft.com/kb/316992?WA=wsignin1.0
You can also refer to a link to find out what codecs are installed on your computer.
Additional information:
See the link below if you receive a playback audio codec error but video does not play when you play files multimedia in Windows Media player 11, as shown in the link also applies to Windows Media player 12.

I hope this helps. If you have any other questions, we will be happy to help you.

Hello
Please find the supprotURL:
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/926373
Windows 7 and WMP 12 don't play many types of files in the box, you need additional configuration. :(
Attention if you got this message to a folder ".wmv", which should impose no extra codec (coder-decoder), this type of codec will probably install viruses on your computer. You can see the file extension in Windows Explorer or in the name of the file if you have configured via the "Tools |" Folder options | View menu"to do so, or in the Details view, the 'Type' column should display something like"File WMV", or in this case,"the Windows Media audio/video file.
If it's a real file, for example a Flash (".flv"), ".mkv" file or a DVD Blu - Ray, you have to play on a third party such as VLC Player, or download the appropriate codec. There are a bunch of them packed in a secure facility on shark007 (dot) net and the Blu - Ray, probably your computer comes with a DVD playing software that should do the trick, although the codec that comes with it is not compatible with WMP.

From: patiotaiza
Message: I have a 5-minute project and trying to publish it on my PC I get the following message:
"Windows Movie Maker cannot publish the movie to the specified location. Verify that the original source files used in your movie are still available, that the publishing location is still available, that there is enough available disk space, and then try again. »
I have enough space available in my PC (8 GB on the left), search for the missing files and they are all OK, tried several different locations, editing... and it still doesn't work. I'm sad, can someone help me please?

I get the message "Windows Movie maker cannot save to the specified location". I tried different places, to moved all the files in these locations, recreated film, enhanced virtual memory to computers at 8 GB and 47GB available disk space. Tried all options to the title of best quality, Best Fit, other settings and including the CD recording. But it still won't save as a movie to a project. I have 5 separate voice recordings, and a video with music incorporated for a total of about 24 MB. Help?
Hi Mare Hausen,
1. did you of recent changes on the computer?
2 when was the last time it was working fine?
3. What is the total size of the memory (RAM) installed on the computer?
See the below Microsoft article and try the steps mentioned, check if it helps.

Windows Movie Maker cannot complete publish movie
Everytime I try to publish my movie in Windows movie maker in ANY type of format or quality or size or anything I get this message.
Windows Movie Maker cannot publish the movie to the specified location. Check the original source files used in your movie are still available, that the publishing location is still available, that there is enough available disk space, and then try again.
It's all the source files are still in use, and I don't have any changed or moved to new locations since I imported in WMM.
The publish location is my office then yes its still there.
I have more than 170 GB left on my C drive, and this video is only about 600 MB in the best format possible.
So I try and try again and I can't seem to post in any size, any quality or any place on my computer.
Help, please.

Windows Mail could not be started because another instance of it is still running on your computer
When I start Windows Mail I get this message.
{Windows Mail could not be started because another instance of it is still running on your computer.} Please log off of Windows, and then restart Windows Mail. If the problem persists, save your work and restart your computer.}
I'm trying to find the instance that is running, but I can't find anything running. I have to restart my computer to make it work.
Can someone tell me how to solve this problem?
You can disable individual startup items in a selective way and eventually found the culprit. If you have Windows Desktop Search installed, go to control panel | Filtering options and disable indexing WinMail. Also, if you have a mail gadget in the sidebar, remove this. Antivirus software can also screw up things, seewww.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3Stevewrote in message News: * e-mail address is removed from the privacy *... Steve thank you very much for your help. I would also like to solve this problem for good, but I don't have the slightest idea what to stop running in my startup that has nothing to do with windows mail.

Windows Movie Maker cannot import any of my Itunes Music.
The file C:\Users\User\Music\iTunes\iTunes Music\Ke$ ha\TiK ToK - TiK ToK.m4a Single\01 cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to re-import the file.
That's what Windows Movie Maker said after that I try to import one of my Itunes songs. How to install the required codec?
(by the way... What is a codec?)

Can anyone understand this? Windows Movie Maker woes by using Windows XP.
First of all, I was able to make a video but could not save on my computer. Now, I can't even make a video because when I drag and drop an image to the timeline, it disappears in the preview pane. Curiously, when I drag and drop the music to the audio timeline it plays very well. Go figure. Thanks for your help.
