Windows Movie Maker doesn't let me get a look at the timeline.
I'm about to complete a project in Windows Movie Maker and I just changed the audio. Now I can't preview my timeline at all. There is just a black screen in the preview area. Is it possible to fix this or do I have to start over because that which would take forever.
Hello 7thbunny,
You can publish without audio for Windows Movie Maker. Look at the links below:

I hope this helps.

All using windows movie maker, I added audio, but I can't hear the music while playing the video... Why is this?
Hello
1. What is the format of the video file that you use in Movie Maker?
2. do you receive error messages when you try to play the video?
Some audio and video file formats are not supported in Windows Movie Maker and cannot be imported. However, if you have a video or audio file that is not taken care of, you can use a non-Microsoft video editing software to convert the file into a format supported by Windows Movie Maker, and then import the video file or an audio resulting in Windows Movie Maker.
You can use your favorite search engine and download third-party video editing software to convert the file.
Note: The use of third-party software, including hardware drivers can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the use of third-party software can be solved. Software using third party is at your own risk.

My Windows Movie Maker won't let me publish my movie... Help!
I tried to publish my movie I did on Windows Movie Maker to my computer, but about 65% in edition, it stops and says:
"Windows Movie Maker cannot publish the movie to the specified location. Check that the payor source in your movie files are always available, that the publishing location is still available, that there is enough available disk space, and then try again. »
As far as I know, all mentioned in the post is fine (I checked all original source files, I tried different locations of publication, and I know that there is enough disk space, because the video is only about 2 and a half minutes), but I always get the message when it reaches 65%. I have looked through many forums on Windows Movie Maker does not, but none of them does not seem to answer my question.
Help, please!

Just some thoughts...This happens usually when the source files are
not totally compatible and also may be linked
transitions. In Movie Maker, you could try to go into tools.
Options / Compatibility tab and disable all
the filters. Also you can try to convert your source files
to different formats.Several formats are apparently compatible with
Movie Maker, but the most reliable choices are:Photos - bmp
Video - wmv or dv - avi
Music - wma, wav, wmvAnd you can try to remove the transitions.

Windows Movie Maker is not let me download Flip images because I don't have the correct codec?
I have a Flip video Ultra, model U112OB, and I am trying to download his images on my PC so I can modify it with Windows Movie Maker. But whenever I try to bring it on movie maker it says: the F:\DCIM\100VIDEO\***+ file. MP4 cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to re-import the file.
I visited a websight to support customer flip and ordered to download online with windows, but I was not able to find what I'm looking for.
Any Suggestions?
First... Download the video in a folder on your hard drive.
There is some info on the following link:
Movie Maker and Flip digital camcorders

Windows Movie Maker won't let me publish my videos!
When I 'publish on this computer' dialog box is and does is display "Estimating Time."... "no matter how long I leave it. does not, never the numbers on time. It does not have a file instead I specified, but it goes to a few bites and then stops. I have no idea why he would do that.

Check the file formats that you had inserted in movie maker. You might have used files that are not supported by the Director.
Photo: jpg, png, bmp
For video: WMV, AVI
Music: mp3, wav, wmaNote: If you use google for formats of files supported by Windows Movie Maker, you will find that the list is much longer than what I've listed. This is because I find those on my list are the most reliable and you don't have to worry about not having the right codec for files.

Windows Movie Maker - have 6 minutes of audio spliced, I would like to publish in the form of an audio clip with no video. I heard that this is possible, and it all works, the 'framework' includes 6 more minutes of space without air circulation that gets compiled with the planned 6 minutes of audio matching 12 minutes of audio rather than the 6 minutes. Is it possible to MovieMaker 'See' the end of my audio instend, to include 12 minutes in length with it default? Should I include photos or video for the project to publish only 6 minutes, instead of the 12 minutes? I hope this makes sense...
I assume you are using Vista Movie Maker 6 and not Live Movie Maker?
It is a problem that I've not seen before... the recorded length must be equal
at times combined clips on the timeline. I guess it's possible
If you've done a lot of editing/trimming clips... something was corrupted.I was wondering... If you import the .wma file saved in Movie Maker and drag
it to the timeline... it shows the clip as being the length of 12 minutes? If it isn't...
Perhaps you could he split and right click Delete unwanted 6 minutes and
then re-save.Divide... drag the playback at the end of the music and the type indicator... CTRL + L
.. .to split the file then right-click of the unwanted part and click on delete.Tip: Unlike clips video... audio clips can be dragged to the timeline, so don't forget
they are dragged all the way to the left to prevent air from dead at the beginning or
between the clips. It may be worth trying to go to... Tools / Options / compatibility... tab and the left click
the "All default settings" button before the Save.And... If the clips audio source are not the. WMA format... it could be a useful
try to convert them to WMA before you import into Movie Maker. -
Hello,
After I publish a film I did on Windows Movie Maker, the final video file is condensed to the half of the screen, while the bottom is light green. Before you publish, at the opening, everything looks good without any problem. Any ideas of how fix? Thanks in advance.

Can anyone understand this? Windows Movie Maker woes by using Windows XP.
First of all, I was able to make a video but could not save on my computer. Now, I can't even make a video because when I drag and drop an image to the timeline, it disappears in the preview pane. Curiously, when I drag and drop the music to the audio timeline it plays very well. Go figure. Thanks for your help.

Hi Liska3,
What operating system is installed on your computer?
Windows Movie Maker comes pre-installed with Vista, and according to the guidelines of your error message, I would say that you have Vista.
The following Microsoft Knowledge Base article addresses this issue. Please go through the suggestions.
