Windows Movie Maker - How to move video files already in a project

OK so I have a number of video files that have been 'imported' in Windows Movie Maker from my USB drive. Now, I did my project already and am almost complete with my film. However, is there anyway I can move the videos on my computer so I don't have my USB connected whenever I'm working on the project?

In other words, is there a way to move a clip from one folder to another and did not Windows Movie Maker lose track of it?

Here:

http://www.windowsmoviemakers.NET/tutorials/HowToSaveProjects.aspx

recommend the folder beforehand. But now, of course, it is too late.

So come on Microsoft, I'm sure that you have no more to watch this...

You can open the file .wlmp with a text editor. Here, you can clearly see the full paths to the videos of the project entry.

Copy all of the video files to where you want, and then manually change the paths in the .wlmp file to match their new locations.

I can't say I've tested this, but it worked on a few projects without problem.

WLMM should have a possibility to do it within the program.

    Choose one of your avi files, use a video converter, change it to WMV format.
    Add the WMV to dvd creation. He accept?

  • How can I get thumbnails of .mov video files to view 'my videos' in the library in windows 7?

    My digital camera is sufficient. MOV video files.

    I can download them to my PC Windows 7 without problem, but when I'm in the 'my videos' library, all my old. Video files AVI (from a previous camera) display as thumbnails of the actual video (which is really convenient to quickly identify what is talking about the video), but all my new. Show only MOV files as an icon of a hot air balloon on a strip of film behind a musical note (which I think is just a symbol of a media file).

    I would like to be able to view thumbnails for. Video files MOV as well... PLEASE CAN YOU HELP! ???

    Hello

    I found a solution for this problem on the 64-bit windows 7!

    I changed and added a few keys in the registry to fix this thing to preview:
    IN REGEDIT:
    _ HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.mov\shellex\
    where I had only 2 keys inside the shellex.
    _I watched inside the shellex mpeg (because mpeg would generate good thumbnails):
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.mov\shellex\
    where he had 3 keys
    _SO what I tried was to copy these 3 key and replace my key shellex .mov with those 3.
    That's what you can do:
    -Open regedit
    -Click on: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.mov\shellex\
    then export it (this will be your backup in case this does not work, or mess you something you'll just have to click on it to install it again.
    Then,
    -remove the "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.mov\shellex\"KEY.
    -Open Notepad
    -Paste the following text in your Notepad file:
    -don't paste this line-
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.mov\shellex]
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.mov\shellex\{3D1975AF-0FC3-463d-8965-4DC6B5A840F4]}
    @=""
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.mov\shellex\{BB2E617C-0920-11d1-9A0B-00C04FC2D6C1]}
    @= "{c5a40261-cd64-4ccf-84cb-c394da41d590}".
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.mov\shellex\{E357FCCD-A995-4576-B01F-234630154E96]}
    @= "{9DBD2C50-62AD-11D0-B806-00C04FD706EC}".
    -don't paste this line-

    -Save as whatevername.reg (remember to use 'all files' kind of file type.)
    -Double-click on the file reg saves you just you just saved, it will be to reinstal the shellex inside the key of .mov here:
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.mov
    with the right keys and stuff.
    -Close regedit
    -Open a folder that contains your. MOV, refresh the file several times to be sure, it should work.

    Hi Michaelle1,

    ·          You did it of any material changes or software on the computer before this problem?

    ·          Do you have any third party media player and codec installed on your computer?

    Temporarily uninstall them if you have any third-party media player installed on your computer and check if you are able to import files video .mov in Windows Movie Maker.

    Secondly, if you have any third-party codec player installed temporarily uninstall them and check.

    To uninstall codec and third-party multimedia player, you can use the Windows Cleanup utility.

    Download and install the Windows Installer Cleanup utility from this link:

    Description of the Windows Installer Cleanup utility

    Now, run the utility ("' start > all programs > Windows Installer Cleanup" "). In the list of programs displayed in the cleanup, select programs, and then click on remove. Quit out of cleaning.

    Or uninstall programs feature & programs in Control Panel.

  • How can I move video files in windows Explorer without losing metadata in windows media player?

    I'm under WMP 11 Vista.  I have a folder that contains the files in my video (AVI for example).  I organized videos in WMP by manually changing fields of tag for ratings, artists, genre, etc.  I would like to move some video files around in Explorer Windows (in the same drive that is monitored) to arrange my training and records.  When I do this, WMP loses track of the video file as the path is no longer correct, so I would like to add back to the library to help add to the library.  When I do that, the video appears in its new location, but all the metadata is missing.

    Is it possible to move my AVI files to another directory without losing all the metadata, or are never supposed to video files be moved once their metadata has been published in WMP?  Can I enter the new path to the file in WMP or something and have it keep its metadata?  Or is there a way I can get WMP to store metadata on the AVI files as it does with WMVs?

    It seems that there is something missing if metadata of media management is a core feature of WMP and be able to move files autour is a core feature of Windows Explorer, yet the two are not easily compatible.

    I want to just move my video files without losing the work that I put in the metadata.

    Also, what is the reason have advanced tag editor for music files and video files are not?

    Thanks in advance.

    It is not possible.

  • How to make subtitles for a video file appear in Windows Media Player?

    I recently got a video file to a DVD, ending with a .mkv file type. The audio is in a language other than English, but there are English subtitles available. If I play the file in Windows Media Center or Windows Movie Maker, and then present subtitles, but in Windows Media Player, subtitles are not. • Why the version of Windows 7 to Windows DVD Maker product a blurry video of Windows Live Movie Maker?

    When I do a DVD (using Windows DVD Maker) of a film produced by Windows Live Movie Maker photos are blurred and contained very low quality video.  The photos that I use in the project are very sharp, as is the video that I use in the project.

    The movie makes WLMM project is strong on the computer but when it is published on the DVD in Windows DVD Maker it produces a result blur this film as seen on the computer and any DVD player.  It's nothing to do with transitions because the film WLMM is strong.  Other DVD manufacturers produce a sharp image of the film WLMM even, but I prefer the way Windows DVD Maker makes the DVD with scenes, etc...

    The problem seems to lie with the WLMM. creating Windows DVD DVD movie conversion - are they incompatible?  This seems to happen with the version of Windows 7, everything worked fine with versions of Vista on my old computer.  I find it very frustrating to have this return back.  Please suggest a solution.  The version of WLMM is Version 2011 (Build 15.4.3502.0922); I can't find a version number for Windows DVD Maker.

    Update:

    Thanks to Irfan for a potential solution.  I did another DVD with all the filters off but unfortunatey it made no difference.  Having had another close watch the DVD video, the problem is to double everything up like a photo on a slow speed where you have shaking of the camera.  In particular, a girl with wire rim glasses has a rim double wire and even a girl with hair each double strand.  When further looked at what gives the appearance of an image finery.  Again, I must say that the film from which the DVD-video has been done had this failure and from DVD of this film by any other manufacturer of DVD Windows DVD Maker does not exhibit this problem.  The operating system is Windows 7.

    Hello Charley Farley,

    1. What is the operating system installed on your computer?

    You may experience this problem of there are incompatible filters installed on your computer. I suggest that you turn off the filters and check if you have the same problem.

  • Need advice to make a simple Flash video file. Trying to accomplish two things.

    I have some video files (.avi) that I'm trying to convert a Flash video format. I'm trying to export it to a Flash drive to be in a Powerpoint file. With that, I'm trying to accomplish two objectives:

    1. to have the small clip (15 s, 30 fps) constantly loop, like an animated .gif.

    2. allow the user to click on the video and made player slide left/right for ff / rew.

    The video itself is an animation of the turntable. One of our products makes a full 360 degrees turn. By allowing the user to capture and drag, it will simulate turning the model.

    So far, I have already achieved objective 1. I made a new Actionscript 3, any video file (embed flv in swf and play in timeline), and then made the video loop on the timeline. This seems to export properly, and video loop if necessary. The only thing I can't understand is how to "interactive" video and let the user drag left/right.

    For context, I have never used Flash before. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Essentially, it comes down to move the playback cursor in Flash based on the movement of the mouse. It certainly won't be smooth, however, you would need a clock to be responsible for moving your head to read and reverse space compression is very intensive CPU (reverse on the timeline). I would recommend having an upstream release and in advance of the video then you could return them, but if you're new to flash you are already in way over your head.

    Add a new layer and try to add this example script (or Download Source example here, registered in CS5):

    import flash.utils.Timer;

    import flash.events.TimerEvent;

    import flash.events.MouseEvent;

    Make sure that we don't raise this image twice

    If (! stage.hasEventListener (MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN))

    {

    stop the playhead

    Stop();

    set state (forward? back?)

    var movingForward:Boolean = true;

    var curFrame:int = 1;

    var mouseStartX:int; used later to determine the drag

    detect the click of the mouse and drag to the left or right

    stage.addEventListener (MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, onMouseF);

    stage.addEventListener (MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, onMouseF);

    create new timer to control the playback head, start it

    var phTimer:Timer = new Timer (33.0).

    phTimer.addEventListener (TimerEvent.TIMER, movePlayheadF);

    phTimer.start ();

    function to control the playback head

    function movePlayheadF(e:TimerEvent):void

    {

    curFrame += movingForward? 1:-1;

    validate the frame (60 total frames)

    If (curFrame > this.totalFrames) curFrame = 2;

    ElseIf (curFrame< 1)="" curframe="">

    Goto the next image

    this.gotoAndStop (curFrame);

    }

    function that controls the direction variable

    function onMouseF(e:MouseEvent):void

    {

    If (e.type is MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN)

    {

    the user began place start touching, record

    mouseStartX = int (stage.mouseX);

    }

    Else if (e.type == MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP)

    {

    user let the mouse go, determine the change in direction (by scanning stype)

    If (stage.mouseX > mouseStartX)

    {

    slipped right, move forward

    movingForward = true;

    trace ("move on now '");

    }

    ElseIf (stage.mouseX<>

    {

    crept to the left, move the rear

    movingForward = false;

    trace ("back up now '");

    }

    }

    }

    }

    It's pretty simple. In the link source of the example above, an object in the timeline (nice ugly red circle) is moving right plus 60 frames and then left on 60 images (120 total). Consider that your film.

    A clock at a speed of 33ms (30 fps). It's where he won't necessarily be too smooth with video. If you wear at 60 fps, then decrease the timer of the half (16.5ms), season to taste. Whenever the timer fires the playhead is moved, either forward or backward.

    For whether she should go forward or backward a simple variable (movingForward) keeps track of the last "swipe". The shot is simply captured when a user touches the screen (mouse/finger), moves in a direction and then leaves upward. If they moved to the left the direction will be reversed. If they moved to the right, it will move forward. This does not include nor this logic, but illustrates how you can watch the mouse for movement and 'do something' on this basis.

    A very simple validatior in the event timer function checks if the next image (in both directions) is valid and if it is not the case, it fixes it so that it remains within your length of video editing.

    Note there is a MOUSE_MOVE event you can try to hold on to who can literally let the user drag the video forward and back the amount, they drag their finger/cursor. Also if it is a kind of circular surface as a disc rotates, the direction of the user moving the mouse based on where they registration would change the direction in which they expect to move. Etc etc...

    Who should get your feet wet in how you should consider for your project.

  • How to convert video files in avi files 3pg need a kind of codecs etc.

    I am trying to transfer my video files 3pg by converting avi files to copy on this new player mp3; in the instruction book, which says that if there is no problem converting them, iwould need to download additional codecs to take in charge all the multimedia files. How do you do that?

    Hello

    What operating system is installed on the computer?

    You don't need codecs for the avi files to convert to be played on the player, if you need to read the files on the computer, then you may need to download codecs from the internet.

    You can use your favorite search engine to download codecs and use.

    The audio or video file can be converted to a file type that your device can play and then copied to your device. If it cannot be converted (or you don't want it to be converted), you can always choose to copy the file on the device, but you will not be able to play.
