Windows Movie Maker project doesn't find or burns correctly in DVD maker overview

I have created a Windows Movie Maker project, composed of many avi files (129 min) and I can see the entire project in Movie Maker, but when I go to burn a DVD in DVD maker I can only listen to excerpts from the first minutes 33 and the rest is a black screen with no audio (as if there's nothing there). Also when I burn a DVD only burn the first 33 min.  I tried to publish the project to my computer in WMV format, but I get an error when I try to open in DVD creation that the file is not indexed and cannot be opened in creation of DVD. I tried to uncheck the vidoe filters and that has not worked.  Help, please. I put many hours of work into this and am very frustrated.

The file is too large and complex. The best would be to create
several small projects... To each post in the. WMV or. DV - AVI
format in a folder on your hard drive. Then you can import the collection
video files in DVD Maker and each clip becomes a scene
(Chapter) on the DVD. (You can have up to 18 scenes).

The following links explain how to post:

Windows Vista - publish a movie in Windows Movie Maker
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/publish-a-movie-in-Windows-Movie-Maker

The following chart shows where the DV - AVI option.

Also... for a project for more than two hours... There is a possibility that
You may need to use a DVD Double layer...

Good luck...

I was recently working on the 3rd video of the year for my daughter using Windows Movie Maker. I worked on it for a few months now. I save every 10 minutes or more. I was almost finished and clicked on save, and I got a popup that I was 'Out of Memory' that happens from time to time. Then I tried to save it under a different name, and then I got a new popup that says "unknown error." I decided to close Windows Movie Maker, and then restart the computer. I then noticed that the icon/file for my project was no longer visible. I checked the trash and he wasn't there. I did many searches for it on my computer with the file name and the file extension, nothing and also restored my computer to a few days earlier and the project file does not re - appeared. • Cannot open a project in Windows Movie Maker after the backup in Windows DVD Maker

I imported with success of media in Windows Movie Maker, Movie published by using Windows DVD Maker as a guest just so that I could see how it would look.  I was able to view what I had engraved on a DVD and was very happy about how he already produces.  When I returned to Windows Movie Maker and tried to open my project to continue adding multimedia elements to it, I can't open it - it tells me that it is not a valid file in Windows Movie Maker.  Can find my project in My Documents in the category Videos, I'm still not able to open it.  I wonder if I shouldn't have saved in Windows DVD Maker.  I hope that I'm not "all over again.

I would greatly greatly appreciate it if anyone can help.  It is a very special project for a class reunion.

This is the first time I used a forum so I hope I've submitted it correctly.

    Thank you!

    NancyLouse,

Windows DVD Maker and Movie Maker store files with different file extensions.  This means that if you named the file 'file Movie Maker' and the DVD Maker 'file' file the real file names would actually file. MSWMM and file. MSDVD

To display the extensions on all the files follow these steps:
-Click on the ORB to start and Control Panel
-In Control Panel, click Classic view in the upper left corner
-Click on Folder Options, click view
-Scroll to "Hide Extensions for known Types file" and uncheck this box

The search in the folder now where you saved these files or use the search function, you should see the 2 different files.

What version of Windows are you using?  If the Windows Vista Ultimate and the file has been deleted somehow you can be lucky.

Vista Ultimate is a feature called previous versions.  To restore the file back to it's previous state, you can do a right click on the folder where the document has been stored (if the Documents may start, right-click on Documents) then go to properties

-Click the previous versions and you will see the dates corresponding to previous versions of the file you are looking at.
-Select a date and time that corresponds to when the file in this folder was in operational condition and double-click the file to open it

Find the file in the folder newly open and drag the file to your desktop (be sure not to drag to the exact location where the file was initially as not to overwrite the file).

  • Adding my own music to Windows Movie Maker projects & computers mi change project.

I used Windows Movie Maker to make two DVDs for the graduation of daughter gifts.  I was almost done and tried to add my own music but can't seem to figure out how.  In addition, I discovered that my disc on my computer was not working so I saved my projects to a USB key and went to another computer.  When I opened the project format and title pages were there, but all the photos that I spent hours to download and organize projects disappeared.  How can I get my projects into DVD, and how do I add my own music in them?  If anyone has any suggestions I would really appreciate it. I'm short on time.

The Movie Maker project file does not include the source files
(Photos, video clips, music videos) it simply records the path
the files have been imported since the file/s.

Whan you see red Xs where thumbnails used to be
in Movie Maker, it indicates the original source files have
been deleted, moved, renamed or is otherwise not available.

If you had a backup file of all source files on your new
system, you can right-click on the red Xs and get access to the
location of the files and restore the path, otherwise
you will have ot start again.

In windows movie maker, I'm trying to open an old project. It opens, but there is no video clips - only x or empty clips. How can I get the original film clips show?

I did a movie and released a dvd. Then, I moved my files from movie on an external hard drive to store files and free up space on my computer. So I went back to try a pull up the project and got every X / white clips. So now, I rebooted my computer with the video files I removed on the external hard drive and it still shows empty clips.

  • I do not understand why my creation of windows DVD burn only 1% of one of my windows movie maker projects.

    Hello

I made a video of my Windows Movie Maker project and have tried several times to burn through my Windows DVD Maker with the burning of 7% max.  After that, it gets stuck.  However, my other several attempts were a result of burning of 1% and it stuck.  I've left overnight to see if it was the capacity but the next day it is still 1%.  I did other projects without problem.  It is only with this project.  I don't understand why it won't let me if I used Windows movie maker without problem.  The video was originally in AVI, but I was able to convert a 3GP using dvdvideosoft software. Then only, I have done a project using my Windows Movie Maker.  The full minutes of this project is 90 minutes, while the DVD that I want to burn it holds 150 minutes.  Can you help me?  Tried several things and can not find the solution.  I don't know that there must be a solution.

What or who persuaded allows you to convert AVI, which is supported by Windows, to 3GP, which is not supported by Windows?

If you must, convert AVI to WMV format.
    Bypass Windows Movie Maker.
Add the WMV video in Windows DVD Maker directly.
    Try to burn now.

  • My Windows Movie Maker collapsed in response. How can I save my project?

I worked on this project for five hours, and I need it for a class. I don't want to redue it again, because its 10 min long.  I finished it all, except the credit end. I really need to save it so I don't lose. Help, please.

    Hello

You can try the following steps and try to save the project:

Method 1: Increase the size of the swap file

Check out the following link to increase the size of swap file

Change the size of virtual memory

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/change-the-size-of-virtual-memory

    Method 2:

Save the movie in smaller Sections

Save the movie in the sections a half or a third party. This reduces the complexity of the table of storyboard / timeline by reducing the number of individual items that appear on the table of the storyboard / timeline. To save the movie in smaller portions, follow these steps:

    Step 1:

Remove and retain a portion of the film

    a. Select a subset of the items in the table of storyboard / timeline.

    b. in the Edit menu, click on cut.

    c. on the file menu, click on save movie file.

Note: This avoids the part of the movie which is always on the timeline or storyboard, not the article that you cut.

    d. in the movie recording Wizard, follow the on-screen instructions to complete the registration process.

    Step 2:

Import the Portion and save the entire movie

    a. when the movie record Wizard is finished, on the file menu, click Import media items

    b. click on the file that you saved in steps 3 to 5 of part 1, and then click Import.

    c. right click on the imported file and then click on copy.

    d. click on the area of the table of the Storyboard where you want to insert the file.

    e. in the Edit menu, click on paste.

    f. on the file menu, click on save movie file.

    g. follow the instructions in the wizard movie recording.

    h. clear the film Show when I click on the finished dialog box, and then click Finish.

  • Windows Movie Maker (version 2.1) does not open my .mswmm project.

The WMM gives the error message "stopping" whenever I try to open this project.  I have Windows XP.  My project was started about 18 months ago, and I believe that WMM has been automatically updated since then.  I thought that an older project could be opened in a new version of WMM, although a more recent project could not be opened in a previous version.  I'd really like to reopen this project in order to complete and save, because I spent a lot of time to compile.  Would appreciate any help that can be given.  Thank you

    Hi ElisabethLee,

    1. did you of recent changes on the computer?

    2. are you able to create and save a new project using Windows movie maker files?

    3. do you have security software installed on the computer?

    Method 1

Windows Movie Maker in Windows XP uses video and audio filters when you import, preview and record movies.

I suggest that you turn off the video and audio filters in Windows movie maker and check if it works.

To change the video filter settings

    (a) click on the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the compatibility tab.

    (b) in the list of video filters, you can enable or disable a filter by selecting or clearing the check box.

    Change the video filter settings

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-XP/help/MovieMaker/change-video-filter-settings

    Method 2

It is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is causing the problem.

I suggest that you put the computer in a clean boot state and check if it helps.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows XP by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

See the link below to learn more about how to clean boot.

How to configure Windows XP to start in a "clean boot" State

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310353

Reset the computer to start as usual

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

    (a) click Start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.

    (b) If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

    (c) under the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.

    (d) when you are prompted to restart the computer, click on restart.

  • Windows Movie Maker - How to move video files already in a project

OK so I have a number of video files that have been 'imported' in Windows Movie Maker from my USB drive. Now, I did my project already and am almost complete with my film. However, is there anyway I can move the videos on my computer so I don't have my USB connected whenever I'm working on the project?

In other words, is there a way to move a clip from one folder to another and did not Windows Movie Maker lose track of it?

    Here:

    http://www.windowsmoviemakers.NET/tutorials/HowToSaveProjects.aspx

recommend the folder beforehand. But now, of course, it is too late.

So come on Microsoft, I'm sure that you have no more to watch this...

You can open the file .wlmp with a text editor. Here, you can clearly see the full paths to the videos of the project entry.

Copy all of the video files to where you want, and then manually change the paths in the .wlmp file to match their new locations.

I can't say I've tested this, but it worked on a few projects without problem.

WLMM should have a possibility to do it within the program.
