OP: Window Movie Maker will not import an mp3 file. Why?

I tried to imort a song from my music file which is in mp3 format, but the program won't. She won't tell me why, it just says: "C: {file location} .mp3 cannot be imported."  I imported 2 other songs that are the same exact format. Why is it cant import the file?

    Hello spardigus,

1 - is the full error you get when you try to import the file?

Some of the Mp3 files can be compressed in various formats. I suggest that you search information below and check out them if you are able to import the files.

It might be possible that the file may be corrupted and is not readable by Movie Maker. I suggest that you copy the file to a different location on your computer and you are trying to import.

Also check the size of the file. If it shows 0 bytes, there are good chances that the file may be damaged.

I suggest that you try to convert this file to avi format using an Audio Converter. There are several converters which helps you convert the file in the required format. Convert the file and try to import.

You can use your favorite search engine to find the program that will help convert the files.

  • Windows Movie Maker will not publish my movie on my computer

I tried to post this video to my computer from Windows Movie Maker. The video is long, only 42 seconds, so I doubt that there is a problem of length.

When I try to publish the video, a dialog box appears and says "Windows Movie Maker cannot publish the movie to the specified location. Verify that the original source files used in your movie are still available, that the publishing location is still available, that there is enough available disk space, and then try again. »

I've checked everything and nothing seems wrong or irrelevant. I had to completely wipe my computer about two days due to the 'Blue screen of death' experience, but I was able to install any new drivers and restore my computer to its factory settings. I don't know what to do. Help, please!

More than likely you are using one or more sources

Several formats are apparently compatible with film
Machine, but the most reliable choices are:

    Photos - bmp
Video - wmv or dv - avi
    Audio - wav, wma, wmv

  • Sometimes the clips in Windows Movie Maker will not play during preview and not at all after publication...

Hello!  I just create a movie using Windows Movie Maker (HP Pavilion dv6000/Windows Vista Home Premium).  During the PREVIEW, the first part of the video of my film sometimes will not play (view) while the audio continues. Sometimes he will play (view).  All clips are saved in the right place, the file formats are correct, and everything else that I think is done correctly.  In addition, after the publication of the video, he did the same thing; some parts of the beginning is not playing (see) only the audio.  I believe that this can have started happening after a few times when an error message pops up saying something like "Video player has stopped responding, but has revived with success...» "or something like that.

Now, I tried a few things to try to fix the problem.  I noticed that if I take the transitions and effects on the clips then they play but every time. I don't know why this happens only at the beginning of the movie and not all of the film since I also have clips with transitions and effects in the end.  Help!  This is my first time using this program/do a movie (and it's really good if I must say for me... he can win an Oscar! * smile *), but I wonder if I did something by mistake at the origin of this problem...

  • Windows Movie Maker will not publish my movie - gets 6% & goes no further

I recorded a movie and brought it into Windows Movie Maker without problems.  Then I edited the film (not to add anything or only pruned and spliced).  Now, I want to save the movie as a movie.  However when I do it, he won't get to 6% and then if freezes.  It won't convert everything yet, I even left it at night to convert (made sure my computer has not turned off the coast) and he did not always get from 6 percent.  Is there another way to change to the film of a project that I can run on a computer as a movie?  Or do you have a solution to get movie maker to work?   -Thank you

I have exactly the same problem.  I imported the file as a wmv file, originally created by Gotowebinar.  I was able to edit and cut the file, but when I try to record on my computer, sometimes at 1% ^ and freezes.  I've updated all my drivers and still no improvement.  I use WMM 2.6, so there must be another problem of compatibility.

    Hi laura234646,

Did you check if the problem occurs with another drive?

This problem may be caused by audio\video filters present on the computer.

    Director of open windows,

    1. click on Toolsand then click Options.

  • Windows Movie Maker will not play

I made a video for a school project. It was published and implemented well enough. I taped a cd, he brought to the school, and the video wouldn't play. How to make it compatible?

    It works that way.
The video that you have recorded on the CD only plays in your computer.

So that the video be played in other computers or DVD players, you need to burn video to a DVD using Windows DVD creation.

Windows DVD creation is included in Vista Home premium and Ultimate.
If you versio of Vista is not one of the above, you will need to install a 3rd party DVD Maker.

No, it is part of the essential elements of Windows and it is only available for a standard version of Windows.  There may be work-a-likes in store for the RT however.  The RT is limited to what is available in the store.

  • Window Movie Maker will import my .mpg file, but will not play audio.

I used Windows Movie Maker 2.6, Vista and Live for many years and I've always been able to convert my files to .wmv with ease. My old computer recently crashed and I reinstalled the program and codec I had on my new machine.

A week ago, I was import and conversion of some files to .mpg without problem what-so-ever, but when I import my .mpg files now, I receive one of the following scenarios:
    (1) ".mpg is an empty file." (2.6)
    (2) the video works fine, but there is no audio data. Yet, if I play in Windows Media Player or any other program, I get the audio without problem. (Vista and Live)
    (3) I also run Magix Movie Edit Pro 15, but when it exports to .wmv, the video is distorted / restless (even with the anti-flicker filter on).

I have uninstalled and reinstalled my codecs several times, went to the compatibility of the Menus and tried to post the video to see if the audio could have a defect in playback of the program, but without success.
