Windows OEM and differences of detail?
Hi, I was wondering... I have an OEM (Windows 7) operating system.
The OEM of Windows 7 versions are identical to the versions commercial full license with the following exception:
-OEM versions don't offer any free direct support from Microsoft technical support Microsoft
-OEM Licenses are tied to the computer first you install and activate it on
-OEM versions allow all hardware upgrades except for an upgrade to a different model motherboard
-OEM versions does not move directly from an older Windows operating system

Retail
A retail license does not have the same restrictions, you are free to transfer it to another computer or the motherboard, as long as the license is removed from the current computer, or is no longer in use in this regard.
In regards to a retail upgrade license, the computer you transfer must have a license of previous qualification. In the case, you will need a new license of full version.

Please tell me the differences between windows OEM and RETAIL windows licenses. I put my computer to level, which currently has a copy of windows vista OEM. I change the hard drive, motherboard, cpu and ram. As I understand it, I won't be able to keep my operating system.
I intend to be updating my motherboard against soon to buy the new processors coming out next year. If I buy a copy of windows retail I'll be able to upgrade my computer as much as I want, or I'm stuck buying a new copy whenever I want to improve?
License OEM Windows is connected to the system is installed-if something happens that system and that it doesn't work anymore, the channels of license with the system. In general, a replacement of the motherboard is considered as an event "death of license".
A copy the retail license allows to move the Windows software to computer 'nine', which would be considered a computer with a newer motherboard. A retail license is what you want. Not an upgrade because the upgrade rights would die with the OEM copy but a complete copy.

There is no difference in the product itself.
Although if you get a generic OEM full version, it contains the
even software, it has the following disadvantages compared to the
commercial version:1. the biggest drawback of an OEM version (at least in the USA) is
that its license it permanently binds to the first computer, it is
installed on. He can never legally be moved to another computer, sold,
or given (except with the original computer). If the computer
dies or is stolen, your license dies with him.2. he can't do a clean install, not an upgrade.
3 Microsoft offers no support for OEM versions. You cannot call their
with a problem, but rather to secure the necessary support of your
OEM; who take in charge may go anywhere between property and non-existent. Or
You can get support elsewhere, like in these forums.

The OEM version can only legally be sold with hardware, even if these
days, any piece of equipment, even a power cord, is eligible. Although if
you get a generic OEM full version, it contains the same software,
It has the following disadvantages compared to the sales at retail

Similarities and differences in Windows 7, 8 and 10
I'm doing research for my book on the similarities and differences between Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10. I want to know what makes 10 if large amongst the rest and that lack of windows 7 and 8. I want to know exactly where I can find this information for reference purposes.
Hello
I'm sorry, but we are here to help posters with their computer problems, only not to do homework, assignments, etc.
And the only way to learn is to do the research yourself.
I suggest that you use your favorite search engine (Google, Bing, etc.).

What is the difference between Windows XP and Windows Vista?
Hello
I do not exactly know what research or information sites I'm going to ask about my computer. It came to my attention somehow they know my browser etc. He would state that you use 'Windows Vista' and all the factors thast go hand in hand. My question... If I have Windows XP How can I also have Windows Vista? I've always had Windows XP-2000... They are the same or equal? I thought they were two separate.
Another question... Internet Explorer is an 'operating system' and Windows is a browser? Is this correct? I get confused on both.
Thank you for your support

Windows Vista is a more recent version of Microsoft Windows than Windows XP. Windows 7 is the current version of Microsoft Windows with Windows 8 to be released soon. Get a brief overview:
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/history
http://en.Wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Microsoft_WindowsYou have not, "Windows Vista also". You have probably one or the other, and perhaps a corruption in your current system is originally a misreport on some web pages.
Discover what operating system you use:
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/help/which-version-of-the-Windows-operating-system-am-i-runningAfter that, we will understand what Internet Explorer browser (just a simple web browser, such as Mozilla Firefox, Opera, Google Chrome, etc) you are running:
While in Internet Explorer, press ALT from your keyboard and while holding this button down (hold it down) also press the 'H' key on your keyboard. This should indicate the "Help" menu in which you will find the choices 'A connection of Internet Explorer'. Release the keys you pressed on and choose that. You can report both of these things here.
If you want even MORE information about your computer, I suggest running and results of this free program to print: Belarc Advisor. Its output (this is a web link) will provide you with detailed hardware and software on your system information.

I have an OEM of Windows Vista version on a dying computer. Can I buy the upgrade for Windows 8 and install it on the new PC, I'm building? The upgrade, is published at the same time as I'm rebuilding my PC. I'm just looking to replace my OS. I need Vista.
Hello
OEM license is tied to the first machine that is installed on the OEM license dies when this machine dies.
An OEM license is not transferable.
And you need a legal edition of Windows, enabled for upgrade.
There is no use, you buy a license upgrade of Windows 8 by itself as you have to upgrade anything of in the new computer, you build...
You can buy a license of Windows 8 when it comes out later this year.
See you soon.

Copyright details Windows icons and Windows sounds?
Lets say I want to copy the icons Windows and/or Windows sounds and use them elsewhere outside Windows (this can be Linux or OS X, BSD or whatever) what restrictions apply?
It would be legal for example for Apple to ship OS X with the sounds and Windows icons?
Would it not legal for Canonical ship Ubuntu with the sounds and Windows icons?
(The difference between the two is that OS X is Commercial and exclusive, Ubuntu is a free and non-exclusive)
Would it not legal for John Doe to copy Windows sounds and Windows icons and download them as a pack of themes for OS X or Ubuntu on the internet?
Thank you.
