  • Removal of old photos of the iPhone with iCloud photo library on

I had a 6 128 GB iPhone for a couple of years and I bought a Macbook Pro about a year ago. I've been running iCloud photo library - but not Photostream - and without really look deep into the settings exactly, when I take pictures on my phone they usefully automatically found in the Photos app on my macbook. When I remove photos from my phone, they also seem to disappear too from my mac.

Recently, in an arrangement of happy until I started running low on space on my phone. My question is, is my library in 'mirror' between my devices? IE if I say, delete all my photos from 2012 to 2014 my phone, they are removed from my macbook too? Obviously, it would be disastrous.

I guess my question is, what are the best settings to have a situation where my photos will be driven by my phone to my laptop, but then stored on my laptop indefinitely?

    Any help is appreciated.

    Hello

When you use iCloud photo library, deletion of a photo or a video on any device that uses the service will remove this item in all of them and also to iCloud.

The following resources may help explain how the photos and videos are managed by iCloud photo library, including the possibility to optimize the storage on your iPhone:

  • Photos on macOS Sierra: Album of peoples does not synchronize with iCloud photo library

Using Photos has just been updated for Sierra, and we finally have it in writing:

    https://help.Apple.com/photos/Mac/1.2/?lang=en#/phtf5e48489c

Note: Persons identified in the album people are not synchronized between devices.

And as far as I know, it really does not synchronize between my libraries of Photos on the MacBook Pro and my iMac.

It's different in the 10 user guide iOS for the iPhone and iPad:

    http://help.Apple.com/iPhone/10/#/iph9c7ee918c

People are synchronized between devices where you are connected with the same Apple ID.

I wonder how this is supposed to work, if a Mac and iPhone are synchronized with iCloud User Library.

None of the faces that I named on my iPhone did sync it with my Mac.

Another indication that the lack of synchronization of the people and names is deliberate:

This document has now also been updated:

Use iCloud photo library on several Mac - Apple Support computers and Photos

    https://support.Apple.com/en-us/HT204486

After have connected you, these items appear in the Photos app on all your Mac computers:

    • All photos and original videos
    • All folders and albums
    • Smart albums
    • Keywords
    • Memories
    • Key photo selections

He used to say, tags searchable faces will perform synchronization between devices, but the tags are more is mentioned. Now we have the 'memories' instead.

  • Lightroom iOS 'Save to the original' or an extension for use with iCloud photos

    Hello

I use icloud library because I want only a library, I would like to change with Lightroom without having to save a copy/copy of each photo.

What iOS allows replaces the original photo in the "Photos" app rather than a lot of copies.

There are 2 ways to make this economy of Lightroom on the original, or if Lightroom was an "extension of photos.

This does not replace the original because it can be "reversed to the original" at any time.

ADOBE ALLOW LIGHTROOM TO HAVE THIS LEVEL OF INTEGRATION OF IOS?

I guess that a link to the original photos in iOS 'of the photos' would be necessary so that he knows what edit relates to how original.

so any chance of an option "replace" when recording or an extension of Lightroom?

  • Can I keep only a few original pictures on devices with iCloud photo library?

Hello. I do not use iCloud library but I wonder if starts using it.

I have about 150 pictures of GB that I keep on my Mac and I would have the best of them synced on my device iOS for very fast availability.

I see that iCloud library settings allow user to retain the original or to optimize the storage device iOS.

As it is too keep 150GB on my iPhone, but at the same time I would like to have original photos for some albums, is it possible to make a selection of what to keep on the iPhone than the original?

Finally, do you have an idea of how much space is used on the device if "Optimizes iPhone storage" is selected and only the bulky versions are stored on the iPhone? Let's say, for the original photo of 100 GB, how do need me for optimizes it versions?

As it is too keep 150GB on my iPhone, but at the same time I would like to have original photos for some albums, is it possible to make a selection of what to keep on the iPhone than the original?

It is dynamic. Photos will optimize original, if you need more storage. It will keep the pictures that you used most recently and optimize photos more old ones, which were not seen in a long time.  But you have no control over which photos will be optimized and what pictures will be full size.

Finally, do you have an idea of how much space is used on the device if "Optimizes iPhone storage" is selected and only the bulky versions are stored on the iPhone? Let's say, for the original photo of 100 GB, how do need me for optimizes it versions?

It is not documented and will depend on the size of your original photos. You will save more, if the originals are very large.

But it has been reported here that optimization reduced the size of the library about 10% of the original size. Up to 10 GB should be sufficient in your example.

  • How to solve the problems of synchronization with iCloud photos? The point, reset sync requested version mismatch.

    Hello

I have trouble downloading to iCloud the photos app in OS X.

It seems pictures are being developed and download is underway, until I reached a point where the download starts from the beginning again and the console shows the following message is displayed:

    25/07/16 09:31:36, cloudphotosd 148 [315]: Reset Sync asked! Reason: Domain = CloudPhotoLibraryErrorDomain Code = 1 "version mismatch" error UserInfo = {NSLocalizedDescription = Version mismatch}

Does anyone know how difficult or can help me debug the problem?

It seems that the problem is related to evolution of photos from hidden to visible, and vice versa. or remove the tags to images (maybe generally, no changes to photos) before the download is finished, because that's what I was doing in the meantime.

    Thanks for your help!

    Version:

    OS X 10.11.6 (15G 31)

    Photos App Version 1.5 (370.42.0)

one thing to try is disabling ICPL on all devices and disconnect from iCLoud then reconnect you and put on a device at a time and see if that clears it

  • Relink 'Library of Photos' to iCloud photo library

This question relates to a clean install of Mac OS Sierra

I have my library of Photos in pictures file, and there all my uploaded images. When I format my computer, how can I create a link to this file with iCloud photo library, so I don't have to download anything new?

I still did not understand the exact procedure for this and want to avoid download it all again as I have in the past. There must be a way to link to the top, since I downloaded them all already.

    You can not

If you restore a library or repair one that it triggers a total upload to make sure that everything is in harmony, there is no way to avoid that - you just start a new library and let ICPL fill the iCloud - he loses people and all

  • I do not understand iCloud photo library...

IM probably having a time above, but I am having trouble with the use of the library.

I found that the way it worked you take a bunch of photos on your iPhone and then download the ones you want to keep the photo library to icloud. Everyone has signed in the same iTunes account could then download those they loved and keep them locally on their device.

The way it seems to actually work is that every single photo I take gets downloaded, and then downloaded to each single device on the account and if I delete one of the photos on my phone (for free space, for example) the same pictures are deleted on the iCloud library and all devices!

is there really no way to selectively download the library and then keep the photos here as a repository of images?

What is the point of having just pictures on all devices?

    Am I missing something here?

You ask if it is not possible with iCloud Photos because it was not designed for this.  iCloud is a mirror/sync implementation service that synchronizes all your photos/videos on all of your devices, making them almost immediately available on all your devices, and if you happen to delete a photo or video to a device, it is removed from all devices.

iCloud was not designed as a storage system traditional cloud based.  If that's what you're looking for, then you will have to look for opportunities to third parties such as Flickr, Dropbox or Google Photos.

You can also use the function "Optimize iPhone storage" to save space on your device.

  • ICloud photo library is not download all of the images on my Mac or iPhone

I created iCloud library when it was made public, and it has worked very well, apart from the fact that there are about 100 images (out of my 5 k library) who download any Photos on my MacBook Pro and my iPhone 6. have a problem where, for some reason, quite a number of pictures in my iCloud photo library appear under vacuum with a symbol of little cloud instead of the image. I assumed it was always download files in the background, however, this has been the case for weeks and there is no activity indicated. I restarted my iPhone, my iPad and my Mac and did all sorts of other troubleshooting ideas, but they seem to refuse to download. Help! I have all the latest updates installed.

They are peppered throughout my library and do not seem to have anything in common. I assumed it was always download files in the background, however, this has been the case for weeks and there is no activity indicated. I restarted my iPhone, my iPad and my Mac and did all sorts of other troubleshooting ideas, but they seem to refuse to download. When I click on one to see it bigger, it fails with an error, but shows just an empty pane.

You have "Optimize Storage" activated on your iPhone or Mac?

Have you checked, it makes the photos have been uploaded to iCloud?  Open the Photos.app to the iCloud web interface www.cloud.com and check if the pictures in question have the same problem on iCloud.

Added: I see the white rectangle with the cloud icon, every time I edit a photo. The icon turns white, until the modified version has been downloaded to iCloud and synchronized at the back.  If you are that many of these clouds icons seeng a great prt library is not yet synchronized.

Will there be a progress bar in the iCloud preferences on your Mac?
