Windows scam... 1-866-844-8352

Hello.. I got the same phone call... now what I did was to go through a few steps until I got to the page where they showed the errors... I didn't click on the boxes or it the OK button. I just cancelled the procedure and told him no thanks... I went pretty far as it can damage my computer...

its been a few days and so far my computer works fine... He puts me back 3 times to see if wanted to continue the process and simply told him it was a scam...

Thank you... Randy

Hello Randy,

When the representative of the scamming company takes control of your system is at the point of no return. You are safe as long as you have not given permission allowing them to control your system remotely. The only way they can harm your system is either allowing them to take control of your system via the remote control or if the end user allows them to install a program. Since you have cancelled the program and they tried to contact you to complete their process tells me that your computer is fine.

Original title: repair Windows scam - Can can't Access Control Panel or workstation

My system has been recently infected with "Windows" repair"virus. I managed to delete using Super Anti-Spyware, but all my desktop shortcuts are gone (hidden) so I downloaded "Unhide.exe" and get all my shortcuts. Most of them seems to be working as before, but there are a few, such as 'My Computer', ' Panel, "My Documents", or even "Windows Explorer", which I can't access.» When I try to open them, I get this popup box saying "Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close" how much he out me of my office of kicks.

    Any suggestions?

    Thank you!

The best way to solve this maybe just create a new user account, transfer your personal data to this account, and then delete the old account. Make sure that you perform the system restore after you did the new account and everything works fine. To purge the system restore, simply disable it then again. Be aware that the creation of a new user account is not the means to get rid of malware. But it is perhaps the best way to get rid of some of the after effects. However, I recommend you scan with Malwarebytes before running these instructions. After scanning you may not create the new account.

In addition, Jose is correct. Good number of new forms of malware prevent the start in safe mode. Trying to force booting in SafeMode with msconfig, you end up with a boot loop.

  • Received Windows scam call, is the computer at risk?

My sister received a call from the scam that claims to be from Microsoft, and that his computer is in danger of being hacked etc. They told him to run a program called "Windows Event Viewer" which was done, and he showed a long list of errors. As it is, she said, she had to undergo, and they said they'd call back. She then rang me and I checked the forums and could see that it is a very common scam. They have no go as far as giving a Web site address to go on, there was talk about payment.  My question is, is there a risk that running this program compromised his security somehow?

    * original title - Windows scam call *.

The Windows Event Viewer is a tool that was included in Windows almost since its inception. It allows you to examine a large number of events in the system and operating system files. Most's opinions, some are warnings, some are errors. While your installation works the way you expect, you can ignore the errors.

Launch the event viewer does not change anything in Windows.

  • Windows scam Call-What should I do?

Hello, I just fell for a scam Microsoft Cold Calling. They told me to check my observer of events, and then go to www.support.me. They then told me to enter a 6-digit number and click on "connect to technician. I did, but then they realized I was only 16 years old and I was not the owner of the computer or the person paying for the internet. They sounded so irritated, told me to call at the time where my parents came home and told me to turn off my computer. There was no sign of moving the mouse and nothing has been downloaded. I turned off the PC and disconnected from the power supply and the internet immediately. They have planted a virus on my computer or obtained control of it? Or they want just money? I'll take to a computer repair shop. Which will solve all the problems?

  • Phone call from Microsoft windows scam

    Hello

I received a phone call saying he was Microsoft Windows and there are system reported that my computer was full of viruses and malware, and they said that my computer was sending viruses in e-mails that they lock my email account in order to protect others. They knew my name and said they could make me a lot if I could prove that I was learned as they need my bank details to level from 4 years of life support that will continue with new computers to replace old. I stupidly gave details as he said that if I did it would install antivirous in the computer as a dinner he says my current software wasn't good.

Then he forced me to enable remote assistance and took me to the purchase for Business Package of distance page help for New World Services Inc. and forced me to enter my data I did. After completing the session, I received an email of New World Services Inc., saying that I had bought the business package and looking upward found only for four years. I then went to my Bank and the cashier told me it was a scam and I got mannaged to cancel the card before it empied my account although New World Services Inc. did take £252.00 my account and told them about the scam and that I don't want there services and do not call me.

I always get calls saying they are Microsoft Windows or they are malicious and calling about my computer with virus software and when I don't, thank you and hung up there have been moments when someone else says the exact same words as little as an hour later, well that people call regularly as now I know most of them as soon as they speak.

They installed ammyy to allow access through my firewall to send windows logs them so with selected McAfee frirwall and ammyy blocked as they had shown me the observer of events the adminastrative events and said cuircles reds are virouses and yellow triangles are malware. When I said that the red circle is when I did a forced when troubleshooting stop where I pressed the button for a few seconds.

Then I got a phone call saying could I turn on my computer as the info from my computer that has virouses and malware had said. If blocking ammyy had worked as before they were able to tell red any yellow order of events. So I then removed my computer ammyy and that they would not receive the ball more.

When after I dial to get phone calls not the last call, I get when they called and get that they do not have the number of appellants and it has afflicted me that sometimes there was as little as an hour between calls, it seems I'd barr the number of fraudsters and barr New World Services Inc. If they continue to call and if need be I have to change my phone number.

-If you have paid the scammer with your credit card. The card has been compromised.

    2. contact your bank.
    -Change the account.
    -Change the PIN code.

    3. If you saw the crook of remote access to your computer, it is compromised.
    -Reinstall Vista
-Use another user name and password.

    4. talk to your local law enforcement... If you want to go that far.
-Ask to speak to people in the Department of wire fraud. See if something can be done about it.

  • Windows scam, received a call on the sea.

That guy adam pointed out, he works for Windows and gave me a number to call when my boyfriend came home 801-893-1881 and advised ask me for Adam. He Adam called back later that night where I have caller ID and it only showed call without number. My man answered and asked Adam how spell windows that he couldn't, we hung. The next day, a man didn't call back, even no ID to show during the call this time, he reported, his name was Jack, I asked Jack if he was called Adam because he sounded like him, he asked if I wanted to talk to Adam. I hung up. I'm glad that I didn't not give these people to the info I checked my computer today to see if others get these calls, I glad to hear Im not the only one. I posted their numbers in the hope that it may be useful to windows to find and stop the scam.

Phone numbers are fake and cannot be found. Quite often, the calls come from outside of the jurisdiction of the country where people are called. It is a problem that cannot be fixed easily.

Doesn't the person who stole my laptop stolen also my Win 7 license rights or the fact that he (or she) has stolen software makes him an illegal user of license and my rights to the license to stay with me?

  • I got a fragger added to my laptop by a scammer - is it safe?

Has had a telephone call from someone who said they were Windows support. Then not aware that it was a scam, I went through the process of going teamviewer.com - loads of warning and error messages said that on my machine. Stupidly, (it seems now) I gave them access to my laptop when said these errors, etc could be erased (by them). But when it came to apply for '25 years total protection' for the payment that I said I need time to study. That is to say, I would come here to learn! Here there a (de) - Fragger was at work on my screen.

I immediately pulled the internet connection. Now, reconnect, I find that I find myself with a "Fragger" icon on my screen.
