Windows scam Call-What should I do?

Hello, I just fell for a scam Microsoft Cold Calling. They told me to check my observer of events, and then go to www.support.me. They then told me to enter a 6-digit number and click on "connect to technician. I did, but then they realized I was only 16 years old and I was not the owner of the computer or the person paying for the internet. They sounded so irritated, told me to call at the time where my parents came home and told me to turn off my computer. There was no sign of moving the mouse and nothing has been downloaded. I turned off the PC and disconnected from the power supply and the internet immediately. They have planted a virus on my computer or obtained control of it? Or they want just money? I'll take to a computer repair shop. Which will solve all the problems?

Hello

Search for malware and if none found you are probably OK. However, the real danger is obtained
computer information such as credit cards, banks and any other information that allows them to
to steal money or identity. If there is this type of information on the computer then you have to leave
your parents know of the issue, you should do anyway.

As you say the story it doesn't sound like they had access to your computer for more than one
minute or two, or not at all. If that's true, you are so so good.

If you need search malware here's my recommendations - they will allow you to
scrutiny and the withdrawal without ending up with a load of spyware programs running
resident who can cause as many questions as the malware and may be harder to detect as
the cause.

No one program cannot be used to detect and remove any malware. Added that often easy
to detect malicious software often comes with a much harder to detect and remove the payload. Then
its best to be thorough than paying the high price later now too. Check with them to one
extreme overkill point and then run the cleaning only when you are sure that the system is clean.

It can be made repeatedly in Mode safe - F8 tap that you start, however, you must also run
the regular windows when you can.

check with the other methods below.

My errased sticker product key and I can't read all the text to reactivate my windows visa. What should I do now?

    Hello

You mean the sticker on the case of the Vista operating system pre-installed from Dell, HP, Acer, Toshiba, etc.) ?

If you do, you can contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.

They should do this for a small fee.

To reinstall Vista using their recovery disk/s, you start from the 1st recovery disk they provide and follow the manufacturer's instructions to reinstall:

You need to change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order:

How to change the Boot order in BIOS:

    http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/SS/bootorderchange.htm

"How to replace Microsoft software or hardware, order service packs and replace product manuals.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/326246

And if you have never received a recovery disk when you bought your computer, there should be a recovery Partition on the hard drive to reinstall Vista on how you purchased your computer.

The recovery process can be started by pressing a particular combination of the key or keys at startup. (Power on / start)

    Maybe it's F10, F11, Alt + F10, etc., depending on the manufacturer.

Ask them to the proper key sequence.

And if you do not score a manufacturer of recovery on your hard drive, you should be able to make your own recovery from her disks to reinstall the operating system.

Go to programs > name of the manufacturer of your computer > then their system or recovery tools software topics for them, depending on how it is formulated.

If you can't find any reference to it, contact the manufacturer for advice on how to make these recovery disks.

The methods above resettlement generally do not require allows you to provide a product key during Installation, the recovery process uses the Installation product key factory to activate automatically during the resettlement process.

    See you soon.

  • Received Windows scam call, is the computer at risk?

My sister received a call from the scam that claims to be from Microsoft, and that his computer is in danger of being hacked etc. They told him to run a program called "Windows Event Viewer" which was done, and he showed a long list of errors. As it is, she said, she had to undergo, and they said they'd call back. She then rang me and I checked the forums and could see that it is a very common scam. They have no go as far as giving a Web site address to go on, there was talk about payment.  My question is, is there a risk that running this program compromised his security somehow?

    * original title - Windows scam call *.

The Windows Event Viewer is a tool that was included in Windows almost since its inception. It allows you to examine a large number of events in the system and operating system files. Most's opinions, some are warnings, some are errors. While your installation works the way you expect, you can ignore the errors.

Launch the event viewer does not change anything in Windows.

  • My computer has been infected with "Windows Vista restore" what should I do to get rid of him?

The fake security program Window Vista restore"scans my computer and tells me I have several hard drive errors.  It has blocked access to my computers system restore and defragment utility, appeared to 'clear' all my files (like images taxes) and I get the error pop ups telling me to turn off the computer because "hard drive failures.  When I click on cancel, x or anywhere on the box, the system stops.   When I restart, the same fake program starts begins to scan my computer again.  I tried running my Trend Antivirus scan and when the scan is about 99% complete, the fake program does not scan continue.  What should I do to get rid of him?  I'm asked to pay for an upgrade of the software, but have not entered my card number.  I'm afraid that my data has been hacked... including the loss of my photo albums.  I'm currently installing updates to windows on the computer.  Will he get rid of it?

    Hello

    do you mean Windows Recovery?

    read this:

Windows Vista Recovery is a program of analysis and optimization of fake computer that displays false information in order to scare you into believing that there is a problem with your computer. Recovery of Windows Vista is installed via Trojan horses that display fake error messages and warnings of security on the infected computer. These messages will state that there is something wrong with the hard drive of your computer, and then suggests that you download and install a program that can solve the problem. When you click on these alerts, recovery of Windows Vista will be automatically downloaded and installed on your computer.

Once installed, Windows Vista Recovery will be configured to start automatically when you log in to Windows. Once started, several error messages appear when you try to launch programs or delete files. Windows Vista Recovery will then prompt you to scan your computer, which will then find a variety of errors, he said, he can't fix until you purchase the program. When you use the defragmentation tool called it will specify that it should run in Mode safe and show then a background in Mode Safe false who pretended to defragment your computer. As this program is a scam do not be scared by buying the program when you see its alerts.

Follow the removal instructions, including how to "unmask" your data

I work with Windows Movie Maker; I downloaded iTunes songs and when I try to import the audio track of the film, I get an error message, "movie maker has stopped working".  It then restarts automatically, but without the audio track.  What should I do so that he can import?

Might be interesting to try to convert the files to the. WMA

There are many programs that can do conversions...
The following freeware is an example...:

(FWIW... it's always a good idea to create a system)
Restore point before installing software or updates)

    Format Factory

(the file you want to download is: > FFSetup260.zip<>
    (FWIW... installation..., you can uncheck
('all' boxes on the last screen)

First, you will need to decompress the file or just open the
Drag FFSetup260.exe out of the folder
and drop it on your desktop. To install left click.

Next, after the download and installation of Format
Factory... you can open the program and
left click on the toolbar, the "Option" button and
"Select an output folder to" / apply / OK.
(this is where you find your files after they)
    are converted)

Drag and drop your clips of music on the main screen...

    Select "while"WMA"/ OK...

Click on... Beginning... in the toolbar...

    That should do it...

    Good luck...
