Windows & scan fax
I can't get the fax works on my windows scan.i fax followed the instructions so many times and nothing happens.according to the instrustions, all I have to do is plug it into a phone line and track setting up wizard.i have done so many times and still can not do same work.i bought a modem fax but nothing happens.am I guess that to get a fax # of my internet service provider , are they suppose to connect some how.no seems to know what to do! Please help me someone!
What are you using to do the scanning and faxing with?
You use a printer all-in-one, which makes Fax, scan, copy and print or simply using fax/scan program in Windows by itself?
Everything for what you are wanting to do has the installation software.
If you are simply wanting to send a fax to someone, you just dial the fax number, you send.
When you are prompted for your fax number, just use your home phone number.

I am running Vista ultimate on 64-bit computer with a Linksys WRT310n router in LAN mode. I also have a Canon MF4370dn printer that prints screen & documents ok. I can see the printer on the network.
I'm mainly interested in the function of scan here.
With the mf scanner set to scan mode of network (according to Canon), I opened the Windows scan & fax tool, I select the WIA Canon scangear printer/scanner/fax to network & I get a panel where you select dpi/jpeg/bmp etc. When I select the function preview or scan I get an error message that says "network timed out treatment. Check the settings of the scanner & network.I read a lot of sour comments on the analysis of the network of this machine. It's a shame, because it is a machine of great, fast & compact mono laser. I have disabled the firewall of the router, still no go. I also tried the rout USB with software to reinstall with network for others, printing & for my machine but italways deferred to the network on mine with the same error message.
I also read where it analyzes only at 300 dpi... so with all these pros & cons I decided to get a good, dedicated, scan that will probably better results of the scanner anyway.
Thank you for all the good sites & info you have provided.

the computer must be on and the windows scan and fax program open to receive a fax?
I would like to receive faxes at any time - the computer must I be on and windows & scan fax needs to be run to receive a fax?
I looked through many pages of documentation and the forums and didn't find any reference to this.
Thanks, Gil
He probably could if your fax/modem may wake the computer from sleep mode. But you would still have to wonder if the fax send would wait long enough for the PC to detect the ring, wake up and be ready to deal with a fax.

Fax for Windows & scan has stopped working for me.
Fax for Windows & scan has stopped working for me. I analyze the documents on there all the time and it just stopped working gives me an error message indicating "a problem prevented the document under analysis. Please try again, or to correct this information, see Help and Support or the documentation that came with the scanner. "However, the problem is not the scanner, because it works with a colleague's computer, and the scanner does not work with mine either. It is a problem with the Windows fax and scan. We have tried several things and nothing works. Help, please!
Hi KristinVeltema,

I have a new HP with Windows 7. I'm scanning in legal size docs. with my printer/scan/fax. The application of fax scan in windows 7 does not show an option to paper size for legal-size paper. I could do this on my old XP computer. Microsoft forgot add parameters of legal size in this application?
Hello notnewbee,
Thanks for posting on the Microsoft answers Forum.
You do not give the model of your printer/scanner/fax machine so I can't direct you to the website of the manufacturer of specifc. However, I would
you go to the website of the manufacturer of your printer and download the latest drivers for Windows 7. Sometimes, if you use a driver that is not intended for your operating system, then your device can operate and install, but some features may not work.If they do not have an updated driver, then try the compatibility mode for Windows XP and see if your printer will work correctly.
The information below will show you how you can make older programs run on Windows 7 here.If please reply back and let us know if this helps solve your problem or if you still need help.
Sincerely,
Marilyn

Impossible to scan, fax, or copy of HP Officejet 6500 All-- E709a One in
I can print from my HP Officejet 6500 All - in - One-E709a, but I can't scan, copy or fax. All drivers and updates are underway; No recent updates have been made before the problems that occur. I use Windows 7 64-bit. When the printer is turned on, it still shows Original charge, but no documents are in the charger or on the glass (I already cleaned the glass and have ensured that the lid is tightly). I have problems to scan, copy and fax. The automatic document feeder works. I tried to reset the printer several times.
When I try to scan a document into the document feeder (it feeds through) or from the glass, I get varying answers - rarely, he asked well how I save/handle the doc (e.g., save them in pdf format), but the document does not actually scan and I'm headed to reload the document OR it displays no. Scanning Options. The document does not appear in my analysis.
When I try to copy, it shows the document as copy, but there is a long delay before the progress bar occurs. When I copy using the document feeder, I actually get a copy (rarely and always disappeared - looking) or copy prints white - two results are always followed by an error message to reload the document. When you copy from the glass, the copy print in white with an error message to reload the document
The same problems occur when you try to Fax. If trying to scan, copy or fax, the printer does a lot of gears whirring noises.
Again, I can print a document from my PC without any problem, the problem is limited to scanning, faxing and copying.
I tried the doctor of printing & scanning HP. It always stops at the HP Twain scanning stage, saying that the scanning process was cancelled by the user (not true). When I click on continue, it proceeds to the stage of Test analysis, but nothing happens when I click the button of Scan Test. It only will allow me to ignore at this point. All the other steps show green checks.
My first question is really going to reach the merits of the case, I heard you say that the printer produces noise, but if you lift the bar A) trip through the screen and the light cover B) up?
In addition, perform both of these resets and I would like to know how they are!

Scan & Fax error message please notify
From: Al
Yesterday my scan & fax was working fine, now, I get an error when scanning; to the effect that "year error occurred while setting the scanner Properties" and "If another program is scanning please wait so he could fill and try again" but it is not another program using the scanner! The preview also works but then I get the error message after the preview and click scan Gets the second message. Any ideas?
From: Cari (MS - MVP)
Thanks - why didn't I? Probably because I had the problem once before that was part of a problem more serious requiring a re-installation of Windows Vista, and I guess it could be a recurrence. Clearly not, fortunately.

HP6700, H711n. My local bank offers a service that allows the deposit of a check sent by fax. However, the service requires my scan/Fax has a software called "TWAIN" or "TARGET" and I can't find a referance by HP. My HP6700 supports these software? If so how is it available? I asked this question of HP in December but got no answer other than the confirmation, that the question had been received by the CS. Thank you. GB
Hello
Yes, it's from his manual (page #38):
"You can use Control Panel of the printer to scan documents, photos and other originals and send them to a variety of destinations, such as a folder on a computer. Alternatively, you can analyze these originals of your computer using the HP software provided with the printer or programs compatible TWAIN or WIA compliant.
When scanning documents, you can use the HP software to scan documents into a format that you can search, copy, paste, and change. »Kind regards.

Original title: widows installation problem
I have Windows XP Professional running on a desktop older. I cleaned the disk and I would use it only as a 'internet '. It works well and response times are pretty fast, but when I connect I get a box that says "Please wait while Windows configures FAX"... this process stops and I get another message that says "the component you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or another removable disk that is not available", "put the 'FAX' disk and click OK. , "" Use Source: '1' "»
The first question is I do not use a fax application and never did, I have tried every disk I can think of to complete the process, but I get the same message with each one 'the path '1' is not found. "Make sure you have access to this place and try gain or find the installation 'FAX, MSI' package in a folder from which you can install the FAX product." .. then "error 1706 - FAX." Valid any source not found for the FAX product. Windows Installer cannot continue. »
This will take place two or three times at the beginning upward. How can I prevent Windows Setup tries to install something that I do not use or do not seem to have? I deleted any fax program, that I could find on the computer, and nothing seems to work.
Hello
1. have you done any change in software on the computer lately?
2. are you able to install other applications and programs successfully?Check to see if the problem exists in Safe Mode, if the computer works as expected in mode without failure, then we can solve the problem in the clean boot state. There is an application which is set to start when you start the computer and which launches the installer of Windows.
a. refer to the article below for the procedure safe mode in Windows XP
A description of the options to start in Windows XP Mode
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/315222b. you need to perform a clean boot to find the program that is causing and then disable or remove.

Note: When you are finished troubleshooting, follow the steps as explained in the article to reset the computer to start as usual.I hope this helps.

How to use windows scan with my new canon MX 922 printer. It is conncected and copying and printing but can't seem to use the windows scan option, the cannon that which for me is slow thanks
All in one, type printers (print, copy, scan) usually have a very specific set of instructions during the installation. If not followed exactly the probability is that the scanner will not work.
Canon: http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer
Download and read the Setup instructions for your model, have you followed the instructions exactly, more precisely when to connect the printer / scanner during installation of the software process?

G70 213EM Windows 7 Fax does not connect to the modem
"Hi, my G70 213EM let me use Windows 7 Fax, when I try to send a fax, it tries to detect the modem (HDAUDIO Soft Data Fax Modem with SmartCP) and reportsan error occurred - try the operation later or contact your system administrator '. He has worked with the release candidate, but not now with Windows 7 Home Premium full version.
I questioned the modem via Device Manager and obviously only the fault I can see is a line in the newspaper that says ' DSR is low during the initialization of the modem. Verify the modem is turned on ' , but it responds after that? very strange.

I followed the "install, configure and send faxes in windows vista" page, but there was no "windows fax and scan" box in the pop-up "Windows features". I have a modem-fax HDAUDIO soft data installed.
You don't say what version of Vista you have.
http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/Windows-Vista/features/fax-scan.aspx
Home editions of Vista have NO FAX features.
You need 3rd Party Software: http://www.snapfiles.com/reviews/Snappy_Fax_2000/snappyfax.html
Snappy Fax allows you to send and receive faxes from your computer. You can use your scanner to scan documents and then sent a fax to any fax machine, or use the print command other applications to use the virtual fax printer, allowing you to send faxes directly from most Windows applications. In addition, the program also supports faxes sending via the internet, filtering of unwanted faxes and transfer incoming faxes to other fax or e-mail addresses. Additional features include import address book, faxes by email (with zip for images support), OCR, spell checking and much more.
See you soon.
