Windows system restore 8

Y at - it a Windows system restore app 8

It is not a metro app, but it is disabled by default because Microsoft wants you to use the update and restore function.

I do not see the advantage of refresh or reset because you lose your programs and files, so be sure to turn it on if your using your PC as a main computer to work.
If you have it on a htpc or a ssd and insufficient, on the space just leave off if not turn on

  • Host Windows system restore back up virtual machines the VMWare Workstation?

Is it save to perform a restore of the system on a Windows host running VMWare Workstation 9.0.2 with the premises of virtual machines? I just need confirmation that the VMs will be still functional after restoring the system.

    Welcome to the community,

System Restore should not touch all personal documents, what configuration file and virtual disk are in reality. However, a restoration of the system can change the parameters of the application Windows for for example VMware Workstation. Anyway most that should happen is that you have to reinstall VMware Workstation in such a case.

see "what files changed during a system restore?" at http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/system-restore-faq

In any case, it is always useful to have a current backup!

  • I need to recover the Favorites after a Windows system restore.

After doing a restore of windows on Windows 7 Pro, I have only the default bookmarks on my view your bookmarks"" button. In a backup of the system a few months ago, I got the files and folder Appdata Firefox Profiles. I tried to replace the new profiles of 'empty' to the former, but without success - I still have only the default bookmarks. Thanks in advance for your help.

Note what to do a system restore will probably replace the profiles.ini file and all the profiles that are made after the date of restoration will not appear or be accessible through the Profile Manager.

If profiles are still there, then you can use the Profile Manager to create a new profile and choose the location of an existing profile (choose a folder) of re - save profile.

I'm writing this in case others have had the same problem, I had and it was impossible to restore.

When I pressed "del" and got the installer, I looked in the first box, product information.

This info was typed in a field of google search on a working pc, and I discovered that I could restore my pc by pressing the ALT key and pressing F8 repeatedly. It will work for Acer Asprire anyway. Just an idea for all those who were distraught as I was and knew nothing about the restoration or what my pc really was. I was lucky and got my restored xp, it works ok and I enjoy it once more.

Good luck to all of you who have had the same problem I did.

Whenever I turn on my pc, I find the time to scan the disk and chjeck to find errors etc, just to try to avoid

    have a pc unstabel again.

  • Windows vista cannot open network, the Task Manager and the windows system restore.

I have problems with a computer, I'm trying to fix. It is a Dell Inspiron 1420 with windows vista. Whenever I try to open the networking or system restore, I get a window with a white screen. With this blank screen, it's like the computer is frozen, ctrl alt del, break the gel, but when I try to open the Task Manager, it would not come. Another problem is blocking down. Stop taking too long. (maybe 30 min)   I did research on the internet to find what could cause something like this and a way to solve these problems, but I came empty. Any information or suggestion would be useful.

    Hi Wiseman504,

-How long have you had this problem?

-What software changes you did on the computer before the show?

    Follow these steps:

    Method 1:

    Step 1:

Boot in safe mode with networking and see if the problem persists.

See options (including safe mode) advanced boot for instructions on how to start in safe mode with network.

Step 2: If the problem does not occur in safe mode, start your system in a State of clean boot (in normal mode) to solve the problem.

For instructions, see How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7 .

Note: After troubleshooting, make sure that you configure the computer to start as usual as mentioned in step 7 in the above article.

You are able to access safe mode?

If your computer has a single operating system installed, press and hold the F8 key as your computer starts or restarts. You need to press F8 before the Windows logo appears. If the Windows logo appears, you need to try again by waiting until the Windows logon prompt appears, and then stop and restart your computer.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Start-computer-safe-mode#start-computer-safe-mode=Windows-7

If you access the safe mode, you can follow the procedure described in the following link to undo the restore point:

  • How can I increase the recovery of Windows system restore drive 7?

I have windows 7 ultimate and I read someone's question on the increase in the recovery of the system and I was wondering how to find it on my laptop and desktop? Because if I can and have better if restore points I ever need to go back which would help in the right now with my laptop, that my restore points back only 7 days. Which is weird, this laptop has been used longer than 7 days and I for 2 days.

And it is the same for windows 7 Home premium? So I could show my father and my brother as well :)
    Thanks Cortana :)

System Restore saves as many restore points as he shared.  When the allocated space fills, more older restore points are deleted to make room for the new.

Although SR in Windows 7 is much better than XP, I would always go back much more than a week.  Windows 7 warn you: on the first screen of the system restore, you will notice a link that says "search for affected programs.  Click here to get an idea of what problems might arise if you go ahead with the restoration.

Also, the list of restore points that shows initially cannot be completed.  Check the box "Show more restore points" to see the rest of them.

Here's how to adjust the space allocated to the restoration of the system (all Win 7 versions): http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/how-much-disk-space-does-system-restore-require

Here are answers to some common questions about the system restore.

Remember, the system restore saves its restore points on the same drive that is "protection". If this disc fails, both your system AND your backup disappeared.  Best practice would be to save the backups on an external support.

If you want to stay with built-in tools, see, for example:

  • windows system restore 8 at an earlier date?

I want to use to restore the system to an earlier date. How do I do that?

    Hello

In order to restore the system to an earlier date, you must have a system that is created on your system to a previous restore point date. Press the Windows key + W, type System Restore in the search box. Results, click create a restore point. Now in the System Properties window, click on System Restore. Now you should be able to see the system restore point created earlier. So you can restore the system at this point.

  • Recently upgraded to the new version of Firefox and after a Windows system restore was performed today Firefox is therefore more accessible (by clicking on icon Firefox results in nothing) what can I do?

After System Restore Mozilla Firefox icon is still on the screen but now when I click on the Firefox icon does not open. I have a number of bookmarks saved I'd perfer not to lose - is there anyway I can restore Firefox without losing bookmarks?

Using the system restore can cause your installation of Firefox get corrupted because not all files are restored, so be careful to do a system restore.

Do a cleaning (re) install and delete the folder of the program Firefox (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\).

Download a new copy of Firefox and save the file to the desktop.

Delete the program folder Firefox before installing newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.

Your bookmarks and other profile data stored in the Firefox profile folder and will not be affected by a relocation, but make sure that you do not select delete data of a personal nature if you uninstall Firefox.

  • What is the difference between the standard system restore and to advance option IE. Windows and smart only restore to the recovery program? Two of them are my computer to factory settings? Which is better or less annoying?

I use Window XP Home Edition.

    oureasyphamax,
I do not know if I understand your question completely, but let me answer what I think that you have requested.

The Windows System Restore will restore your Windows settings (drivers, registry, etc.) to a previous state (note it does not affect your user data).

Smart restore or a system restore that is started before Windows starts, usually accessible from disk or a boot partition, an OEM recovery option.  It will usually restore your PC to factory without saving the data, depending on the OEM recovery options.  For assistance with this type of option recovery\restore, you will need to check with the manufacturer of PC.
