Windows Update cannot currently check the updates, because the updates on this computer are controlled by your system administrator
Error message appears when I try to change the Windows 7 update to automotive preferences, or try to manually get updates of Windows 7. Using Win 7 Pro 64 bit on a computer at home. I am the administrator and I can't find any relevant information in help or in a search of the forum.
"Windows Update cannot currently check for updates because updates on this computer are controlled by your system administrator.
That's what I get for taking!
There is a big difference between be connected - one with administrative privileges (see your first post in this thread) and be logged on as administrator, especially in Vista & Win7. See the section "If you need help to determine if your account has administrative credentials...". I seem to have problems with my windows update. Last week when I checked to see if updates were needed that I was unable to view them because he said that "some settings are managed by your system administrator" who won't let me change the settings and the display of updates. It's my own personal computer so I am the administrator. However, this week update windows begins to function normally because there was an update available and I managed to download it, but a few days later, the windows on the screen update returned to say that "some settings are managed by your system administrator. I did a scan for spyware/adware/virus recently and I had only a low risk of adware that was detected and deleted without modification with windows update. This problem started right after that I got a warranty of software installed by Dell, I don't know if what they did could cause the problem. The system I use is Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I tried to go to user accounts and disable the UAC, but it's always the same. I can't find the GPO, and I don't remember setting one up. Now I can't open 2 of my programs/software from office because of this. Please let me know what I need to do to get it up and running again.

I have a new computer with Win. 7 home Premium, after upgrade to Win. XP version. Now, I can't open Outlook attachments like in XP because of this error message. I tried to solve in the Tools menu 'accounts' and since I am the 'user' and the 'administrator' (I think), I can not list me under each heading. The computer thinks that I'm just the 'user' and not both, I think. I also tried to lower the security settings to 'medium', but that no longer works. Help someone?

Error began yesterday, after I've deleted and reinstalled Adobe Reader software. While at it, I also removed two other programs: browser Opera and PDF fill (a PDF Editor). I tried the system restore of my 8/24 on-demand Restore Point - there is no twice. I moved to my 8/23 restore point, and it failed too.
I discovered what was sick of my machine.Opera, messed with my settings of Internet Explorer when it uninstalled, which apparently affects MS Office settings.
I read that someone had the same problem after you have uninstalled Chrome. Like them, I reset IE as my default browser. now everything works again. So simple, yet so frustrating.Still bothered by the failure of system restore.

Your anti-virus software is in conflict with Windows updates. You can test this by temporarily disabling your antivirus:
Disable the antivirus software
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/disable-antivirus-softwareNote: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.
