WINDOWS UPDATE 'change settings '.

I am the administrator of my PC running windows 7.  I noticed that in the "Edit settings" window of WINDOWS UPDATE there is a? Info sign telling me that "some settings are managed by your system administrator...". "and I no longer have the ability to choose when and what time IMPORTANT UPDATES are made.  Can you please tell me to use this option. Everything seems to work properly, the updates work.  Thank you very much.

Hello

Thanks for your reply. I watched your method 2 solution and thought it was a bit too complicated. So I thought why not try a "restore to an earlier date."  When I tried, there was a problem with the RESTORE process and I was brought to the screen of the REPAIR of the SYSTEM . I clicked on 'repair' and after a few minutes of waiting, I was led to my login screen. I logged in... went on control PANEL and Windows update and noticed that I had my return Option! Everything is back to normal.

Thank you

  • Updates to Windows 8 - "Configuration of the Windows updates, changes in restoration failure"

    Hello

Recently I finally got my laptop back from repairs after 6 weeks. Now, it is in a 'clean' State (aka factory settins).

I wanted to get to 8.1 Windows as soon as possible, but for this I need to be on the latest version of Windows 8.

So I then try to run "Windows Update" and let it install all updates recommended. He manages to download all updates,

and then he tries to configure these. About 98% or 99%, it gives the following message:

'Configuration of the Windows updates, changes back failure'

It then goes in an infinite loop constantly, he ran for hours and hours without having passed this screen.

So far, the only solution is to reset it to factory settings, which brings me to the point before that I try to update, so it is not move me.

I've tried so far, but no luck what follows:

None of them has worked so far.

    To be clear:

It is an OEM license. This doesn't mean no DISC, nor any ISO/Exe could work that they do not accept the product key.

Many other people have the same problem.

Please, I'm at a loss to date.

    Yours Sincerely,

    Leon

    Hi all

Seems that I myself have found a potential workaround.

Install only the KB2871389 allowed me to grab the download of Windows the Windows store 8.1.

Then, I could install Windows 8.1 without a hitch and it normally seems using Windows Updater runs from there on.

It is not yet a waterproof solution to water / final of 100%, but it seems to work for me.

I hope this will help someone else with the same problem!

    Yours Sincerely,

    Leon

I manually ran Windows Update for about 22 updates including KB3002885 (KB3000061 is not included at this time).  It resulted in "Failure Configuring Windows Updates, changes of recovery".

    Measures taken (without the fix):

    -Reboot

-Restart in Boot Clean with Services MS no disabled state

    -Updated Troubleshotter

    -System Restore (3 weeks)

    -DISM.exe / Online/Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

I started installing updates a little at a time and was able to install all the updates about 22 except KB3002885, which always causes the problem 'failure configuration... '. ».

Updates at this point (November 14, 2014) identified KB3000061.  When update was executed for this update by itself it also caused the problem of the "default configuration... '. ».

You need to disconnect all your removable media to the computer, such as removable disks (Blu - ray disc, DVD, CD), the memory cards (CompactFlash, Secure Digital card, Memory Stick card), and USB flash drives.
These removable media can cause this problem during the restart of Windows.

    or

System restore - Note if your computer is not configured to start from a CD or a DVD, or if Windows was preinstalled on your computer without the CD or DVD, see the documentation that came with the computer for instruction about how to continue, or go to the next method.

  • I'm getting 'Failure Configuring Windows Updates, changes of restoration' by updating windows.

It was the first time that I am trying to update my laptop of Lenovo G500s which is come with 8 windows pre installed, before installing the updates, I have restored the laptop if you default factory using Lenovo a recovery key. While the updates are being installed I received a message 'Fail configuration Windows updates reverting changes'. It lasted for an hour. When I tried to install updates again the same message appeared. My laptop came pre-installed with Nitro Pdf 8 and Mcafee Internet Security, so I have even uninstalled them, I also ran Mcafee Consumer Product Removal Tool. But the problem with windows update remained. I then ran the convenience store update Windows that sets these two problems:

fix windows update fixed the database and repair misconfigured update windows components, but this solves nothing. Later I discovered that although the resolution of update problems show that the problems have been solved but convenience store running immediately shows again the same problems.

So this time I ran again the recovery system, and immediately after the system recovery windows update of convenience store that showed the problems mentioned above two updates of windows.

Is it so that means the recovery partition itself contains other problems that my problem would have been solved, what do I do to fix this?

  • Windows Update changes home page

I have VISTA. My Yahoo is my home page. 2 days ago, that the pg suddenly changed while I was away from the computer. The menu file/Edit/View/favourites at the top of the pg bar disappeared. My Yahoo logo, who was also at the top of the pg that I used to open additional windows have also disappeared. I tried to find help on Google, other sites. Only info I found indicated that Internet Explorer 7 now hide this menu bar. I don't know how to find out what version of IE I have.

I managed to get the back bar menu (no idea or how I did in fact). The logo of Yahoo, I used to open windows to the addl is still missing. The homepage has now 2 gold stars above the pg who will open a list of favorites to the left of the pg that I don't like because then there's no room to see the rt page. I find the Windows constant updates of the circumstances aggravating and annoying & sometimes Cancel when the window appears. I don't know if this problem was a result of an update or not, since I wasn't on the computer at the same time.

loricherokee, it seems that you have updated your browser to a newer version, it is a very important and not beneficial because it gives you a stable and more secure application for your internet browsing. You might have had a Yahoo toolbar program installed and that's what you're like the yahoo logo, referring to East - this exact? If so, you can go on yahoo and acquire again.

For the menu bar, simply press the ALT on your keyboard to see. You can then use the Favorites option which is similar to your old way (I assume you were using before IE6), or you can always together favorite button to close the column which is located on the left.

To set your home page you can click on tools, Options and in the general, either type the link to your home page or click use current to set the page your on your homepage.

  • Unable to access windows update settings, message, some settings are managed by your system administrator. »

Original title: unable to automatically update important updates.

There is no error message when I open Control Panel > system and security > Windows Update > change settings.

On this page, that I can't even select or choose other important updates options.

In addition, on top of the same page, there is information highlighted: "some settings are managed by your system administrator."

However, I have a personal laptop at home and use the laptop as administrator.

I already tried troubleshooting, but it was useless for this problem.

    Hi Said,

It seems that you use Windows 8. You will not be able to access the Group Policy Editor (gpedit.msc) If you use Windows 8. Group Policy Editor can have access on Windows 8 Pro/Enterprise edition of Windows 8.

Have you tried the other suggestions contained in my previous post? security software i.e. un-installing third if installed computer and to access the windows update settings by enabling the built-in Windows administrator account.

If you have tried the steps above, please answer us with results to help you further.

  • Windows Update is make my old windows of 15 years

Among the recent updates from Windows Update changes customization on my windows color and appearance settings to make them look like something Windows 3.1, 15 years ago.  When I try to change the windows color and appearance it is has only a few basic choices, each of them really old school.  I had to perform system recover to get rid of this terrible regime of color and my windows back to the original appearance of Windows Vista and have now disabled automatic updates because the new (old) color palette keep spend my windows are sticky and makes me crazy.  Anyone know why this is happening or what specific update is the cause and how can I stop from occurring during the installation always important updates by using Windows Update?

    That's the problem with Vista.
