Windows Update did not find updates more. The progress of the download stays on 0%...

I guess that it is a result of http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=947821.

I will go back to a system save point and will try to exclude the update above.

So far I have no idea on the reason of detail.

Encluded are some of the last line of the windowsupdate.log.

I hope this helps to find a solution for this error.

Thank you.

Maritin.

Hi MartinSanger,

You can download and install KB947821 system preparation tool and let us know the result.

If the previous step fails then that run the Windows update Troubleshooting If you use Windows 7

Open the Windows Update troubleshooting tool

  • Windows-7 did not find my antivirus Avast on the PC software

I recently started getting the message of Action-Center "Windows 7 didn't find an AV on this system.
I use Avast (free) for years - since Win2000...

I use Win7 (build 7100) for almost a year, but it is only recently that my Win - 7 has started giving me this message.  Yes, yes - I know-time to upgrade. I have only a few months with 7100...   :-(

An Avast forum suggested I delete the system32 folder/wbem/repository after the closure of some services.
Unfortunately this must have been for XP, because there seems to be much too many services taking into this folder. I can't keep closing all!

So, how can I get rid of that message, apart from upgrading to Avast Professional (which cannot always help)?
Another easy answer is simply disable messages on protection against the virus, at least in my case. But what happens if a newbie has this problem?

Sorry if this message seems redundant, but the other forum responses seem to be for XP or Vista,

    Thanx.

Free avast works fine on Windows 7 but it can't on non - RTM builds more (I don't know this). I used it without a problem during the beta until the RTM version. Try to uninstall/reinstall Avast. If this does not resolve the problem, maybe you just install a different free antivirus until you make your own to the RTM installation. Also, you sound like a user, but for completeness, I should also mention that malware infection can cause this problem so make sure that the computer is clean:

    http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Removing_Malware

Regarding the process of change of name of the repository, it works on XP and Vista, but I've never tried it on Win7. Since Win7 is no longer the Security Center, he can no longer work. I do not know. However, here's the correct process if you want to try again:

Start > Search > type: cmd
When cmd appears in the above results, right-click and choose "Run as Administrator". At the elevated command prompt that will appear:

net stop winmgmt [Enter] [answer Yes to the guests]
    CD C:\windows\system32\wbem [Enter]
    repository.old repository ren [Enter]
    net start winmgmt [Enter]

Exit command prompt and restart the computer.

I have a vague memory of this operation on a Vista machine and who need to do this in Safe Mode prompt orders, but I'm afraid, it was summer and I can't remember. I understand that you use Win7 but maybe the same action there were under Vista so I include the information for you.

  • Windows 7 can not find WMP54G more

Hi all I need your help!

It was December 2009. I got a new computer with Windows 7 64 bit and I got my WMP54G for work.

But, August 2010, I started my computer and I noticed that I had no connection to the Internet. I reinstalled my WMP54G driver and it still doesn't work.

But the problem now is: my computer can not detect the WMP54G. It does not appear in Device Manager. I went to the back of my computer and I noticed there was no green light flashes. I tried different PCI expansion slots, but it did not work.

    Please help me!

    Thank you very much!

As you have already tried to connect the different PCI slot adapter, have you tried to connect the adapter on another computer? If on the other computer, it does not detect the card, then I think you adapter must have gone wrong.

  • Windows 7 can not find the network

Hi guys I hope that someone can help me, I walked trough the forums but none of the above helped me. I also do not really understand some of them. But that's what happened. My internet was fine yesterday, I was watching some stuff on aliexpress when my mouse froze, I tried to restart the laptop, but nothing worked so I had to remove the battery. After that the computer took forever to turn back and when he did my computer did not find my wifi more. I ran the following anti-virus, I tried the steps in the verification of all past system. I went in Sync Center, I have trid addition in manual, I tried to search for a wifi switch (I don't think I have a) I tried to restart the pc and the internet, I tried the system restore, I don't really know what else to do. Any suggestions?

    Hi Kate,.

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

    I understand that Windows 7 can't find the network and I appreciate the efforts made to try the patches. Let me ask you;

    • Restoring the system led?
    • What exactly happens when you try to connect to the Wi - Fi?

This could be due to several reasons, including any third party software conflict. Try the following methods and check.

Method 1: Start the computer in Mode safe mode with network and check if the problem persists. If the problem does not persist in SafeMode with network, put the computer in a clean boot state and check.

Step 1: Start the computer using safe mode with networking

Safe mode with networking is an option of troubleshooting for Windows that starts your computer in a limited State. Only basic files and drivers needed to run Windows are started. Safe Mode with networking appears in the corners of your monitor to identify which Windows mode you are using. You can use the internet connection in this mode.

Please refer to: , start your computer in safe mode

Step 2: Perform a clean boot in order to avoid any conflict of third party software.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

Place your system in the clean boot state helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem. You must follow the steps in the article mentioned below to perform a clean boot.

How to perform a clean boot in Windows

Note: see 'How do I reset the computer to start normally after a boot minimum troubleshooting' to reset the computer starts normally after troubleshooting.

Method 2: Update the network adapter

Step 1: Update the driver through Device Manager

    a. click Start , type Device Manager and click on it

    b. expand network adapters

    c. make a right click driver, and then click Update driver software

Step 2: Install the Windows updates pending

    To check the updates:

    1. Open Windows Update by clicking the Start button . In the search box, type Update, and then in the list of results, click Windows Update.
    2. In the left pane, click check for updates, and then wait while Windows searches the latest updates for your computer.

    3. If you see a message telling you that important updates are available, or you say to look at the important updates, click the message to view and select the updates to install.

    4. In the list, click the important updates for more information. Select the check boxes for the updates that you want to install and then click OK.

    5. Click install updates.

Read and accept the terms of the license and then click Finish if the update requires it. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Step 3: Visit the computer manufacturer's support Web site and install the latest network for Windows 8 for the same model of device drivers.

    Additional information:

    Wireless and wired network problems

Hope this information is useful. Please feel free to answer in the case where you are facing in the future other problems with Windows.

  • Problem with Windows Update after the new installation of Windows 7 Pro the Lenovo ThinkPad X 200

I'm trying to do a fresh install of Windows 7 Pro on a Lenovo ThinkPad X 200. The product key is easy to find on the sticker of the ThinkPad. I was able to activate the Windows 7 Pro using the phone call and my cell phone. I checked the activation! However, I have problems with Windows update. The product key may be a different version of Windows 7. If so, why did it install and activate OK? Y at - it a fix for this problem or I have to buy a new version of Windows 7 Pro? You can reset the Windows Update components by running the Fixit on this page. But if there is malware present, she will continue to reset the connection to the update servers:

Once the Fixit has been downloaded and the system is started in the pure State, check that the native Windows Firewall is now on if a 3rd party firewall has been used previously. Hello

Search for updated drivers and reinstall if no later by using the procedure below.

Control Panel - network - write down of the brand and the model of the Wifi - double click top - tab of the driver - write
version - click the driver update (cannot do something that MS is far behind the pilots of certification). Then
Right click on the Wifi device and UNINSTALL - Reboot - it will refresh the driver stack.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

Hello, I'm sure that my computer is infected with a sirefef, I want to know if there is a free way to get rid of it, I ran so many antivirus scanners and malware/rootkit software and is not fixed. When I try to start the firewall, he says that he is unable to make these requests, Windows Update said the service could not be started, and says Security Center of service could not be started. Please help and I hope that my problem will be solved. Ask if you need more details. Thank you.
