Windows Update does not work after restoring the system

HP Compaq 6000 Pro, bought in early 2011. Windows 7 32 bit. I recently did a factory restore to return to a clean system using factory restore partition. The restoration seems complete ok, and I have a Windows 7 clean and functional configuration.

However, the Update window will not work (and of course, it is now quite an old installation of Windows 7) it comes up with the Red Cross and the message "Windows Update cannot currently check for updates because the service is not running." Other notable issues that may or may not be related are: Windows Defender won't start not (0 x 80070564). HP Support Assistant reports it needs to update, but the update fails (because then it just says: it should be updated again)

What I've tried so far:

Verified that the BITS and the WU services are both actually run

Uninstalled the McAfee antivirus software

Tried to install Windows 7 SP1 directly (happens with "catastrophic failure")

Tried Windows Update (wusa.exe) stand-alone installation / WU Readiness tool-fail (Oxc8000247)

MS difficulty he said Troubleshooter it corrects problems, but nothing changes later

(In short, tried all suggestions from MS support)

It drives me crazy - any help will be appreciated!

ISO should work, just be sure to download the version of Pro 32-bit.

  • Message "Non-genuine Windows" & Windows Update does not work after replacing the RAM.

    Hello

I have a PC desktop HPE-170 a current running Windows 7 Home Premium SP1, which has been installed on the machine by the store where I bought it. It has been properly activated and has worked very well for 18 months or more.

The other day it decided to not start and a computer savvy friend corrected the problem by removing the RAM memory cards, clean the gold plated connectors and re - insert the. This fixes the problem and it started again.

Today I received a message on the computer of Microsoft saying "your copy of Windows is not genuine" and he invited me to "solve online. Well, click on the 'My Computer' icon showed me that windows was still active.

By clicking on the "solve Online" link took me to a validation page, where after she tried to validation, it says "The Validation failed" and advised me to buy another copy of Windows 7 HP for AUD $149. Gee, thanks, but no thanks Microsoft. I clicked on cancel and the non-genuine message has not yet reappeared.

I also found now that Windows Update doesn't work that way.

I rang MS that says that I need the Windows 7 Setup disk. When I said that I don't have one, they advised me to ring HP. I didn't have time to complete the phone call from HP, but I believe that HP wants me to reset the system to factory with them State guide me by phone.

I have a genuine copy of Windows, a product key, and it shows as activated.  From what I understand the system think that I tried to put my copy of Windows 7 on a new computer or similar? I'm not sure.

Is it really difficult to get the system works just like before?

    Thanks for the reply.

I'm afraid I don't understand your instructions. I think that you are a fair way waiting for me in the issues of tech savvy.

I think I have stumbled upon something here; http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c02219204

Download and update this driver seemed to do Windows Update includes itself.

I can now go here; realwww.microsoft.com/ /validate/ and he says: "Welcome to Windows".

I hope I now get no more fake messages on my OS Windows is non-genuine.

    I'll see what happens tomorrow.

Last update 18/7: seems to be fixed, no more problems.

  • Re: WIRELESS does not work after restoring the system to the factory settings

    Hello

I just had to reset my Toshiba Windows 7 laptop to factory settings, I backed everything up to an external hardrive beforehand. After the process that kept restarting my laptop on its own, he did this, while the default Toshiba program was missing (from the application of the box). He said not to interrupt or turn off the PC while it was running, but I couldn't stop it do it several times. The process finally ends the green bar hit 39/39 and let me come back to the office.

It seems to be OK now, but I can't get online, I have connected to my wireless router and it says connected with an excellent signal but I can't do anything on Internet Explorer. I would like to re - download a few things such as Adobe Flash Player, AVG Free, Mozilla Firefox but can't even get anything. It's not even an error message that appears when I'm on IE.

    Can someone help me please?

I hope that you can use your laptop by using the LAN connection.
Have you tried to reboot your router?

    Another interesting fact:
After the reconstruction the new disk, user account control does not recognize Windows programs.
for example: execution of Perfmon.exe, the Publisher is unknown! However, when I download the program Windows FixIt, Publisher is recognized as Microsoft Windows. It seems that user account control does not recognize the Windows programs that had found the new HD, but acknowledges those who is downloaded from the internet.
I guess there is a problem with the license, Windows was preinstalled on the Toshiba and replace the hard drive could have caused a few conflicts of licensing.

  • Windows 7 Windows update does not work after replacing hard drive

Win7 Home Premium and HP Pavilion DV6-2150US.  Failed hard drive.  I bought a Seagate 500 GB replacement (original drive was 250 GB) and used my purchased HP re - install DVD to re - build Windows and reinstall the OEM software on the new hard drive.

Everything starts fine, but he won't deal of Windows updates (. e. is a big red X on the screen of windows update).  I tried Microsoft "Mr Fix it" download - but it error and none of the other suggestions Microsoft not work either.  When I had the chance to talk with a MS tech support person, she suggested that somehow windows on the new drive is not authentic, etc...  Although windows on the new drive hard indicates that its active and authentic... is there some kind of checking a number of the hard disk 'really' activate windows?

Just to make sure that my reinstall was not corrupt, I deleted the new hard drive and began in everywhere... I have the exact same result... it boots fine, but will not update through windows update.  The only other change to the laptop was that I had better buy double the memory to 8 of 4 when I bought 2 years ago... once again, do not know if there is a kind of material exchange limitation before disabling the windows software.

Help, please!  I'm really stuck.  THX JimmyC

Thanks for your post... I solved my problem by installing the update driver Intel rapid storage through this link:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c02219204

I suppose that as long as the hard drive is lower 250Gig you need not the new driver.  But when I replaced my hard drive failed with a disc 500gig hard - when I did restore HP to Win7 and the OEM software from the dvd, I bought - it put the storage driver original in Win7 - which works very well with a 250 GB drive, but causes the windows update doesn't work is not for readers more than 250gig.   When I installed the driver from the link above file, Windows Update started working - and you can imagine there are many, many fixes since my PC has been restored to original Win7 - doesn't not even Win 7 SP1.

I hope it helps someone else... thank you for your message.  JimmyC

  • Windows Update does not work after new hard drive

After you install the new hard drive, when I click on windows update, it opens, makes his scan, then I get the message, (the website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page) I have a Dell Optiplex 745 running XP Pro, Explorer 8, have tried several times and restarted, please help.

What do you think of will be without safety last cumulative update for IE8 be manually downloaded and installed before going to windows update to nothing at all.  What will happen is the CPU at 100% and a whole lot of nothing else of fortification.

Do not go in line with the hopes of getting the updates of windows after the installation of SP3.

Disable automatic updates in Control Panel > automatc updates > disable automatic updates

Start > run > wuaucpl.cpl > disable automatic updates > apply (if the setting is changed) > OK

Get the exe to install offline full download for IE8 [should represent approximately a 16 MB file] and then install IE8 after SP3 and the decline of the ability to download updates for IE8 at installation time.

Then manually download and install the current cumulative security for IE8 update and restart the computer.

visit Windows Update through your browser link in the start menu.  Consent to any ActiveX install queries and validation / advantage genuine offer and cross your fingers.

It is possible that you may still have questions, but this will reduce some of the problems if you follow the recommended sequence.

  • Y700 - Dolby Audio does not work after resetting the system

After resetting my computer to factory settings, audio dolby does not work. This is the error message I get:

"Your installation is missing components. Reinstall the audio driver or the stand-alone components available on the support site for the manufacturer of your PC. »

His works on my computer, just not this request.

    Thanks for the help.

    Matt

I have the same problem, I have a 70-Z40 and the Dolby Digital Plus open, but does not work, you can choose the profile but is not even, I have this problem after the last windows 10 updated a few days ago.

I hope you can help, thanks in advance

EDIT: I solved it after a few tries, I don't know if it is the best way, but it's how I solve this problem:

    (1) Delete last windows update (after that, it did not)

    (2) delete the sound driver from Device Manager and reboot (it did not)

    (3) download the driver for my lenovo model page and install it (it did not)

    (4) any uninstall Conexant audio and Dolby of my computer and re - install again (it does not), it seems that my dolby 7.6.4.9 driver version is not correct, I need the 7.5.1.1

    (5) again to uninstall everything and restart

-From there, he solved my problem

    (6) go on my computer (my system is in Spanish, so I don't know the correct name for the version in English, sorry) and then go to the Lenovo partition, then open drivers > Audio > Setup.exe This will install your Conexant audio driver, and then restart.

    (7) after you restart your laptor, do the same thing... Lenovo > drivers > Audio > DolbyGUI > x 64 > DolbyDigitalPlusHT.msi, and then restart your computer and it should work fine.

    Sorry for my English.

    See you soon

  • HP Mini 210-4120: Windows Update does not work after the Reset HP Mini 210-4120 factory

Following the advice in another post on this site, in order to create a "clean" installation and his work & Office Starter (they do now--they have not before) I did a reset to factory of the recovery partition. (Trying to create discs of recovery or a USB key on the two brackets to the stage of checking).

The new game worked well, without error, BUT try as I might, I can't have the updates of Windows to work. If tried to re - adjust the C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution folder, sfc/scannow (no errors found) and using the powerful Microsoft FixIt which is supposed to re - install the Windows Update service - all without success.

I read on a post no HP (but I can't remember where!) someone finds this problem caused by a chip Intel driver, so maybe that could be applied to my PC.  However, since the factory Reset recovery Partion includes SP1, I would have thought that at least the system should download updates!

I get no error message, it justs waits... and waits... and waits.  I let wait for 90 minutes, but there is still no sign of activity.

I hope someone knows how to solve this problem otherwise I'll have to go back on my installation of non - Office Starter - his, no. (Who, fortunately, I have a couple of image.)

    Hello:

    I get it, I guess.

I thought that you also had a simple W7 starter installation disc (which must be done by editing the efi cfg file in any drive of W7 installation), and then you use the product key on the case of the laptop to turn on.

I knew that you had tried the partition recovery without result.

I was in the middle of the answer I have provided the link for audio driver, and I see that you already have.

  • Windows Update does not work after reset

    Hi guys,.

I had problems with a computer laptop lenovo so I did a reset of the system, and he started from scratch. Everything was going well until I tried to run updates about 20 have installed, but there is an another 80 that used.

When I try to download it says installation failed and when I restart the laptop he tried to confirgure updates and fails.

In addition to this he is originally an error with the tile apps that I said install windows 8.1 but you click on the ad of tile, nothing happens but other applications seem to be good and they are all updated as expected. Or sometimes you click on the tile of the app and it remains on the green screen with the circle past throughout but did not go forward.

I tried making sure that I am the administrator and nothing, Ive even did the output of sfc scan that reveals no problems but whe I official microsoft windows update troubleshooting, it says non-fixed recent updates installation problems, repair of Windows Update services and dependencies and it mentions the release of the sfc , but I already have the CFS scannow and there is no problem.

The only thing that happened with the most recent is that it took forever kept retrying until it failed and came back finally my system load upward, but strangely without saying that he has 3 updates appear to have installed because there is now only 77 I just can not understand.

Because I performed a system reset to factory settings and installed norton to protect there is nothing that could prevent updates, so any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • Windows Update does not work after installing SP1 of W7.

A friend of mine gave me a Dell Inspiron Mini 1012 with 32-bit of Windows 7 Starter (installed at the factory date: 01/11/10). 1 GB of RAM, processor 1.66 Ghz I duel performed a factory reset so I could start with a "new" computer When he was asked to implement W7 for the "first time" I put W7 to recommended settings. For the next few days, everything seemed like it was working fine. Updates are automatically downloaded and installed, until W7 SP1 has been installed. Now, Windows Update is stuck on "checking for updates". WU is always fixed to automatically download and install, but when I opened WU I see the message "check updates for your computer". When I click on the button control updates WU is stuck updates. I left this process continues for 24 hours. Meanwhile, the Dell Mini didn't stop, go to sleep, or put into hibernation, but WU is to always check the updates. That's what I tried: the automatic "FixIt" button from this link: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/troubleshoot-problems-installing-updates#1TC=windows-7 . Troubleshooting Windows Update from this link: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/open-the-windows-update-troubleshooter (I got the message "Windows update error 0 x 80070057 not fixed" this troubleshooting.)  and the resolution of the problems in the Panel "Will fix problems with Windows Update". All 3 have not solved the problem with Windows Update. Can someone please help with this problem? I hope I included enough information.

The installation is blocked by a search being updated in the background. Research of automatic update to 'never check updates', reboot, and then install the value KB3102810.
