  • Windows updates failed to install with error code '80092004' and ' 80246007".

original title: How do I know if Internet Explorer 9 is installed correctly or not?

According to the history of my update, IE put 9 updated (?) correctly installed in July 2011.

However, I have several entries after this date for updates failed. There are 2 error codes: 80092004 and 80246007.

The version I have on my laptop is still IE 8.

I don't use IE very often but would get updated and stop doing the update failed messages.

I should try a manual download and install or is there a better alternative?

    Thank you.

    Hello

Failed updates are all related to IE 9.

I followed the two links you posted above. I have run windows update fixit, who said it was successful. I then tried to install IE9 on my update list, and there no, same error code: 80092004.

I tried a manual install. That failed too.

As usual with a microsoft update failure I now long in circles. When I click on a screen to learn more about the failure, or click to learn more about the error code, I headed for the same items, the same solutions, that do not work.

Since I use IE as seldom as I can, I'll stay with IE 8 and hide the update to IE 9. This seems the best solution to get out of my hair.

    Thank you for your interest.

  • Windows Update fails to install with error code 8e5e03fb

15 July Windows Update suddenly stopped to download and install some important files required to update Vista Home Premium SP1. The error code is still 8e5e03fb, not recognized by Microsoft, although I saw messages on Forums dating back to April 2009, mentioning only the code. I worked with Alan Leon, Support Engineer, but without success. Some updates pass through but none are helpful to the OS or Internet Explorer. So far, none of the Knowledge Base articles have been useful. Only one file, c:\windows\system32\dllcache\wucltui.dll, is missing from my system, but Alan Leon has not confirmed that it might be relevant. Alan suggested that my problem might be connected connection but his suggested change my settings did not bring the expected results. My ISP has a function that allows me to see the data to flow both up and down. When data are sent or received, it can be seen clearly but when Windows Update is running, there is no data flow showing.

    Hi Kanizsa,

Let us know what you have already done, the security software installed on the computer and the updates that are available for installation.

    % systemroot%\system32\CatRoot\{F750E6C3-38EE-11D1-85E5-00C04FC295EE}

If any of the files that begin with tmp exist in this folder, do not remove any other files. Files .cat in this folder are necessary for installing hotfixes and service packs.

Important: Do not rename the folder C:\windows\system32\catroot. The Catroot2 folder is automatically recreated by Windows, but the C:\windows\system32\catroot folder is not recreated if is renamed the folder C:\windows\system32\catroot.

(III) Re-register DLL files that are associated with Cryptographic Services

  • Windows XP updates failed to install with error 0 x 663. KB2656353, KB2656370

Downloaded from KB2656370 of KB2656353, but the installation failed, got the error code 0 x 663. Tried the suggestions to resolve them, failed again.  Any ideas?  Windows XP Media Center Edition, Version 2002, SP3

    Hello

    1. what troubleshooting steps have you performed to correct the problem?

    2. you have any application installed on the computer security?

3 did you last modified the software on the computer?

    Method 1:

I suggest you to disable any application security and check.

    Temporarily disable the security software.

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable the antivirus software. If you do not disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network at the time the anti-virus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Try to install the updates, it does not engage in the method 2:

    Method 2:

I suggest you run the FIXIT from the link below and.

The problem with Microsoft Windows Update is not working

    http://support.Microsoft.com/mats/windows_update/

    Method 3:

I also suggest you to follow the steps mentioned in the link and check.

To do: Important this section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. • KB2249857 Windows Update does not install with error code 800706BE

    Hello

On October 28, Windows Update has identified 3 updates to be installed (KB2388210, Ko 2284742 & 2249857 KB) which caused my PC hang on reboot (stuck to the ' install updates...) 1 screen 3).

Since then, I managed to install 2 of the 3 (KN2388210 & KB2284742) successfully by individually selecting in Windows Update but the KB2249857 update will not install and now whenever the PC stops it hangs while trying to install this update and needs a "hard reset" (that is, hold the power button) to recover up to.

I've seen a few posts on problems with this update, but no definitive answer or resolutions.  Any ideas?

... Support as good phone & E-mail have told me that my installation of IE8 is corrupt and that I should reinstall Windows.

IE is part & parcel of your operating system (e.g., Windows): If IE8 is "corrupt", Windows is corrupted, too. If this is the case and you are not ready to control depth for hijackware, only a clean installation can solve many problems.

If you choose not to, then be... but understand that your personal data (for example, online banking user names & passwords) still at risk with the computer in its current state (that is, not fully-patched).

In addition, based on one of your last posts, I checked to see if I had SQL Server installed.  Yes, I did.  Both a mini-edition 2005 old (forget which exactly edition), as well as a complete edition in 2008.  This could have come as I soak in access programming.  The two versions of SQL server is uninstalled, I still hit the same problem with sqmapi.dll

    Hi DMO523,

I suggest you to download a Service Pack 2 standalone package and install it in Mode without failure.

See the links below for more information about the Service Pack.

How to obtain the latest Windows Vista service pack

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/935791/

Depending on whether you are running 32-bit or the 64 bit version of Windows Vista, you can download the Pack from the links below.

To determine if you have 32-bit or the 64 bit version of Windows Vista, click the Start button, right-click computer, and then click on Properties.

If you use a Vista 32-bit edition, you can download it from

    http://www.Microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=891ab806-2431-4D00-afa3-99ff6f22448d

If the 64-bit operating system, download the pack of

    http://www.Microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=8ad69826-03d4-488C-8f26-074800c55bc3

Also, follow the link below for more information on the installation of SP2.

Learn how to install Windows Vista Service Pack 2 (SP2)

    http://windowshelp.Microsoft.com/Windows/en-us/help/105f7420-6f7f-4FE8-8698-2f40ca5f53711033.mspx

Now, start the computer on which you plan to install the service pack in safe mode.

Note: Installing Service Pack 2 in safe mode, will erase all restore points.

For more information on starting the computer in Mode safe, click on the link below:

Start your computer in safe mode

     http://windowshelp.Microsoft.com/Windows/en-us/help/323ef48f-7b93-4079-a48a-5c58eec904a11033.mspx

Once the computer in safe mode, double-click on the file from the service pack and install it. Once the service pack installation is complete, you will be asked to reboot. Do. Your computer will now reboot in normal mode. The reboot takes longer time usually, there are a few extra steps for the installation of the service pack to be now carried out.

I hope it should work now.
