Windows Update for IE changed my home page and gave me three commercials

How am I suppose to trust Windows Update for important updates in the update important that I just installed changed my home page in Internet Explorer and gave me three pages of ADVERTISING instead.  What kind of scam unsolicited is?

My home page has been msnbc.com.  He gave me of Hewlett Packard, Microsoft.com & Norton AntiVirus.  I have already corrected everything.  I just wanted you to know what did the update of Windows.
