Windows Update installs not automatically, regardless of the option

Hello again,

I'm new to this forum.  There seems to be a problem with the automatic updates to my Dell computer. In the center of the Action (I open via the small flag "XE on" in the taskbar). Time and time again, I select the updates install automatically, but he continues to ask me how I want to get the updates, i.e. aut or manual.  Is there a way to select and did do this until told to do otherwise?

Thanks for your help.

John

JohnCerny,

To set the system for automatic updates in Windows 7 follow these steps.

  1. Open Windows Update by clicking the Start button. In the search box, type Update, and then in the list of results, click Windows Update.

  2. In the left pane, click on change settings.

  3. Under important updates, choose the option you want.

  4. Under recommended updates, select the Give me recommended updates the same way I receive important updates check box, and then click OK.  If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

You can also choose if you want to allow anyone to install updates by selecting the allow all users to install updates on this computer check box. This applies only to updates and installed software manually; automatic updates will be installed independently of the user.

In Windows 8:

  1. Open Windows Update by hitting on any fly in the right edge of the screen (or, if you are using a mouse, pointing to the corner bottom right of the screen, move the mouse upward), tapping or clicking on settings, tapping or clicking on settings change to PC, and then tapping or clicking on update and recovery.

  2. Press or click on choose how to install the updates.

  3. Under important updates, choose the option you want.

  4. Under recommended updates, select the give me recommended updates the same way I receive important check box.

  5. Under Microsoft Update, select the Give updates me for other Microsoft products when I update Windows box and then press or click on apply.

  • Windows Update will not find or install the updates

I turned on my laptop last night after several months of inactivity, and when I ran Windows Update I met an interesting problem. Windows Update took a long time to look so I decided to let it run all night. When I checked on this subject in the morning, Windows Update has been always looking, but I had already received a notification in the taskbar informing me that there are updates available.

I could not cancel the search, so I restarted my laptop, and when I logged Windows again, I saw the list of the updates that are available even if the "last check for updates" was always showing "22/05/2016 at 22:46. I selected all important updates and tried to download and install them, but after several hours, the status was still stuck at 0%. I canceled the installation and noticed that the update of Silverlight has been downloaded and ready to be installed. I tried to update only one without success and was finally able to get it by allowing Windows Installer updates immediately before the power off of the laptop. When I turned my phone back and connected, I could do the same for an update of the framework.

So far, those who have been the only two updates to cross, and I could not download or install the rest. An additional problem is that my Windows Update always displays a prompt stating "Windows 10 upgrade booked" despite the deadline passing on the free update. When I see the confirmation, I get a popup Windows 10 stating that the offer has ended. I don't know if this is related to why Windows Update does not work, but I saw more guests for 10 Windows on my main computer once the delay.

Other things I've tried are to update manually the time at the time of Microsoft servers and try to download and install the updates one at a time, but neither contributed to the situation. In addition, Microsoft Security Essentials apparently downloaded and installed the latest definition files on its own, so it would seem that the problem is only related to Windows Update.

I've attached screenshots of my Windows Update history and update. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Windows Update does not work after restoring the system

HP Compaq 6000 Pro, bought in early 2011. Windows 7 32 bit. I recently did a factory restore to return to a clean system using factory restore partition. The restoration seems complete ok, and I have a Windows 7 clean and functional configuration.

However, the Update window will not work (and of course, it is now quite an old installation of Windows 7) it comes up with the Red Cross and the message "Windows Update cannot currently check for updates because the service is not running." Other notable issues that may or may not be related are: Windows Defender won't start not (0 x 80070564). HP Support Assistant reports it needs to update, but the update fails (because then it just says: it should be updated again)

    What I've tried so far:

Verified that the BITS and the WU services are both actually run

    Uninstalled the McAfee antivirus software

Tried to install Windows 7 SP1 directly (happens with "catastrophic failure")

    Tried Windows Update (wusa.exe) stand-alone installation / WU Readiness tool-fail (Oxc8000247)

MS difficulty he said Troubleshooter it corrects problems, but nothing changes later

(In short, tried all suggestions from MS support)

It drives me crazy - any help will be appreciated!

ISO should work, just be sure to download the version of Pro 32-bit.

  • Message "Non-genuine Windows" & Windows Update does not work after replacing the RAM.

    Hello

I have a PC desktop HPE-170 a current running Windows 7 Home Premium SP1, which has been installed on the machine by the store where I bought it. It has been properly activated and has worked very well for 18 months or more.

The other day it decided to not start and a computer savvy friend corrected the problem by removing the RAM memory cards, clean the gold plated connectors and re - insert the. This fixes the problem and it started again.

Today I received a message on the computer of Microsoft saying "your copy of Windows is not genuine" and he invited me to "solve online. Well, click on the 'My Computer' icon showed me that windows was still active.

By clicking on the "solve Online" link took me to a validation page, where after she tried to validation, it says "The Validation failed" and advised me to buy another copy of Windows 7 HP for AUD $149. Gee, thanks, but no thanks Microsoft. I clicked on cancel and the non-genuine message has not yet reappeared.

I also found now that Windows Update doesn't work that way.

I rang MS that says that I need the Windows 7 Setup disk. When I said that I don't have one, they advised me to ring HP. I didn't have time to complete the phone call from HP, but I believe that HP wants me to reset the system to factory with them State guide me by phone.

I have a genuine copy of Windows, a product key, and it shows as activated.  From what I understand the system think that I tried to put my copy of Windows 7 on a new computer or similar? I'm not sure.

Is it really difficult to get the system works just like before?

    Thanks for the reply.

I'm afraid I don't understand your instructions. I think that you are a fair way waiting for me in the issues of tech savvy.

    I'll see what happens tomorrow.

  • UPDATES DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY CROSS!

My fair updates will not automatically refresh and the little icon saying that windows cannot check the updates and an error keeps the code number: 8024402F. I tried to reset the automatic section but it just won't download updates automatically. I am on Vista Home Premium and also on all browsers last as IE9, etc. Driving me crazy. Can anyone help? I just want to know why it is he said that everything is normal and ok, but when I check the updates, it comes back with this message. Tried the name problems... you it we did. It is just too difficult to do manually.
    Thank you

Why can't that get updated? Does the automatic system even if that's all. It comes up with the error code: 8024402F all the time! All this effect tried but noting seems to be stuck on 10/10/12? Any suggestions please.

Why is my so slow IE9 at this time?
It takes forever just to download any web page? I was wondering what I can do?

    Hello
    A solution is pasted below
It's the second week trebuchee solution on and counts down 20 21 computers fixed 9Windows7 & Vista)

I had this problem as well and tried many recommendations, but none apparently worked. On the update box on my computer has recently tried update was NEVER.
So if you have this perhaps it will work for you I tried a certain path with all have the same apparent result with error 8024402F coming.
It is a such crazy crazy world that we live (murphies law seems to be in control.)
Do the opposite which is logical
First define your update affecting NEVER RECEIVE UPDATES, then UNCHECK the two boxes below if they are checked (a topic everyone can update,) and the other to be informed of the available updates. (That one a box Monte are you shore you want to not be notified etc..)
NOW USING MURPHIES LAW leave all settings for example being NOTHING of WORK SHOULD
NOW CLICK THE BUTTON UPDATE, SURPRISE SURPRISE, NOW, YOU CAN REFRESH. !!!
After update, search for new updates after the first batch.
Then the settings can be set back to normal for example receive updates automatically, check the other two boxes.

  • Windows Update does not end: "check updates".

Today & yesterday I tried to run Windows Update on my 2 computers Win7 (64 bit), a desktop computer (as a HTPC) one and the other a laptop ASUS.

Other software (Adobe, Skype, etc.) on these 2 p. Update OK.

These 2 PC updated successfully at the beginning of the month, 7 & 8 April 2016.
For operational reasons, both of these pieces are set to be updated MANUALLY (not automatically).

    The laptop is used rarely.

My main pc (Pro Win10, i7, 64-bit Office) is updating OK. Update runs automatically.
In other words, my internet connection is fine.

I tried MS Fixit (two options) but NOT the aggressive option.
I also run the Update Agent - the file wuaeng.dll version 7.6.7601.19161 poster.

I have not yet run the system update readiness tool, but may do so after I have let the laptop mode 'Check updates' for a few hours.

  • Installing Windows 7 x 64 Professional SP1 - clean - Windows Update does not work

I installed a new drive and thought it would be good to spend my old data to the new. as the SMART ones showed count of offshoring. And the SATA interface is a little older.

I installed a clean copy on the new disk (disconnected one for the process, so I don't have the bootloader and all that things).

I started to install all the software I ususally use. I also went into the control panel and run the Windows Update tool to search for updates.

Unfortunately, he sjowed I have no update.

I checked in different positions and I tried:

-updates affecting various parameters - did not work

-try windowsupdate.com - did not work

-tried the MsFixIt for Windows Update - did not work

-Downloaded the Windows Update Setup program and tried to install it (it sort of the attempted to install but showed just a process bar work)-did not work

-a tried to update Windows after restart. -still not working

And now im lost what could be the problem. I turned off any application that could attempt to block my connection (dough im don't know if one of them would both need).
I don't know why but my Windows Update starts just not updated.
