Windows Update keeps trying to install K2686828 and KB2656369.
Windows Update keeps trying to install K2686828 and KB2656369. Whenever I tells me the installation succeeds only to ask again to update. I tried the fix - it solutions, and they have not corrected the problem. Also, I did a virus scan and found nothing. All my other updates were installed without problem.
This problem is related to the MSI registration information inconsistancies. I was able to fix by using a cmd "msiexec /i {C09FB3CD-3D0C-3F2D-899A-6A1D67F2073F} ADDLOCAL = ALL/l * v % temp%\repairLog.txt. At the end of this process, the two installed normally KB and I have now no critical updates in the meantime. I noticed that article 917964 described a situation where IE would not work if the repairs were made the xp without removal of IE8 or IE 7 first. My IE 8 works fine. By 917964, "before you perform a repair of Windows XP installation, you must uninstall Windows Internet Explorer 7 or Windows Internet Explorer 8 of the Windows XP computer.". If you perform a repair of Windows XP installation, when a later version of Internet Explorer is still installed, Internet Explorer does not once the repair is complete. »

I recently bought a Dell Inspiron 1545 with Windows Vista Edition Home Premium 64bits. A trial version of office 2007 has been pre-installed, but I removed it. Because something was wrong with deleting automatically I followed the instructions of a Microsoft Office site to manually remove. Although I followed all the steps, I still think that Windows Update sniffs a bit of the program, cause he mind keeps me with the security patch. Anyone an idea how to get rid of it?
Thank you!
You can 'hide' any updates, but be aware that doing this cannot 'hide' all the new Office updates.
How to hide updates in Vista: click on view available updates (or Select the updates installed). Right-click on the update you want to hide. Click hide update | Confirm the UAC (User Account Control) prompt, as appropriate.
To restore/show updates for Vista: Start | Control Panel | System maintenance and (if you use Classic view, skip this step) | Windows Update | Restore hidden updates: Find and select the update you want to install | Restoration of. You can now select once again it and install through the normal process.
TIP: to avoid the downloading/installation, updates that you do not want to configure the automatic updates option second or third parameter in the Edit settings window. See picture here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/downloads/windowsupdate/learn/windowsvista.mspx

Original title: update
Windows Installer keeps trying to install an update for Paint Shop Photo Album, which is no longer available. How he remove without disabling the windows installer? I installed v4.5 installer that allows enabling or disabling updates. Paint Shop appears but the box is not checked, so the installer must ignore, right?
Using msconfig, I can find nothing in startup or services that will completely eliminate the problem, Evin with instaler disabled, Setup window will start to blink during boot computer has been scanned and cleaned with Security Essentials, SuperAntiSpy and Spybot. \
There is a key in registry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer\Products\ referring to it.
What is no longer available - Paint Shop Photo Album or the update?
If you have uninstalled Paint Shop Photo Album, you might see if running free Revo Uninstaller is able to get rid of leftovers that could cause problems.

Windows Installer keeps trying to install msi.status but it will not install
Windows Installer keeps trying to install msi.status but it will not install and I think he got the other updates to the installation. How difficult or get rid of it?
Hello
In my view, that it is a software HP printer problem. Please, try the following:If you have the HP software on your PC support (printers, etc.)
the disc when the pop-up window displays a location '1'. Click Browse
then open the HP disc in the CD drive. A named icon status should
appear. Click on this icon and load. This will get rid of the
Status.msi loop.If you do not have the original disc. Uninstall HP Photosmart all-in-One Driver software and HP update program - then only reinstall the HP Photosmart all-in-One Driver software. Do not update, just live with it. The web link for the full features of the software download is provided below.

Windows Update keeps wanting to install "Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 8 for Windows XP (KB2618444)", even if it appears in the list of updates to inistalled in the control panel. The installation fails. When I use "Fix it", it indicates that default Windows update data locations have changed, but I can't 'Fix It' to do the repair. In what could be a related issue, Windows Data Execution Prevention (part of IE 8?) detects a malfunctioning or malicious add-on, whenever I try to access a video on ESPN3 and closes the Web page. However, 'Fix It' can not detect any problems with the modules. I don't know what else to try to fix any of these problems.

I removed it, but when the other connection of users with their own username, windowns Installer keeps trying to install it, which is very annoying because you hav to press the button cancel several times before it stops and you can´t do something else in the meantime. Friday morning I wasn't able to boot my computer more. When I start my computer it won't seek to set a parameter nr 3 of 3. And then it restarts again. My computer tried to install some windows update settings the day before with no success. I Don t remember what it was. I got Vista SP2
The same problem happends to my computer from friends four days, after she start a windows update installation. But it has solved its problem by using the Windows installation CD and use the repair tool.
For me, my Windows installation CD I got from Dell does not work. Not the tool repair or startreparation. And I have no reference system to return.
What should I do? I don't want to reinstall windows again, I have a lot of information on the computer I need to.
All the world has noticed this problem?
Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.
Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...
Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.
See you soon.

If the above does not work, try to make a Bootable ERD to do a Startup Repair:
As is the case with most computers/laptops these days, they do not come with good Vista disc to repair only the recovery disks.
As your grave in the category above, download the ISO on the link provided and make a bootdisk of it.
Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.
When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.
You can make a tool to restart system, System Restore, etc. with it.
Read all the info on the website on how to create and use it.
http://NeoSmart.net/blog/2008/Windows-Vista-recovery-disc-download/
ISO Burner: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html
It's a very good Vista repair disc.
You can do a system restart tool, system, etc it restore.
There is not a disk of resettlement.
And the 32-bit is what normally comes on a computer, unless 64-bit.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~If the ISP above Mathods to solve your problems, save your data using one of the methods below, and then reinstall Windows:
1. slave of your hard drive in another computer and read/save your data out there.
2. put your Hard drive in a USB hard drive case, plug it into another computer and read/save from there.
3 Alternatively, use Knoppix Live CD to recover data:
http://www.Knopper.NET/Knoppix/index-en.html
Download/save the file Knoppix Live CD ISO above.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm
Download the Vista software from the link above.
After installing above ISO burning software, right click on the Knoppix ISO file > copy the Image to a CD.
Knoppix is not installed on your PC; use only the resources of your PC, RAM, graphics etc.
Change the boot order in YOUR computer/laptop to the CD/DVD Drive 1 in the boot order.
Plug a Flash Drive/Memory Stick, BOOT with the Live CD, and you should be able to read the hard drive.
When the desktop loads, you will see at least two drive hard icons on the desktop (one for your hard drive) and one for the USB key.
Click on the icons of hard drive to open and to understand which drive is which.
Click the icon for the USB drive and click on "Actions > Change the read/write mode" so you can write to disk (it is read-only by default for security reasons).
Now to find the files you want to back up, just drag and drop them on the USB. When you're done, shut down the system and remove the USB key.
See you soon.

Update keeps trying to install updates and does not have service pack 3 XP
I had to reinstall Visual Studio 2005 and now the KB2584146, KB2598479, KB2603381, KB2631813, KB2646524 keep wanting to install and maintain otherwise. I tried to fix it and he repeats to me he needs repair installation and and the same thing again and again and it seems he's trying to install stuff for Server 2003 and it is not correct for my XP pro with service pack 3. Child1!
Looks like you may have hidden a (security) update to SQL Server or one may have been 'stuck' in the queue of the update. Here again, she may have been related to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/968749.
In any case, I suspect that MS support have been able to discover this, too - you had opened a free support incident.
Once again, good luck with the 14 Feb-12 updates.
