  I couldn't after several attempts to install Windows Vista Service Pack 2 (KB948465).  I finished all of the instructions that will appear on the screen to fix this problem and nothing works.  I'm not a PC geek and want just to get this update loaded.  I hope that this will solve the constant stop my IE WHENEVER I use it.  I'm at a point where I want to just remove Vista and go back to XP.  I NEVER had a problem with it.

  Applications, (Norton and McAfee) are notorious for not not upgrade (or uninstalling) itself.

  [You may want to print these instructions for reference offline. If a step said to reboot, reboot.]

  1. download the Norton Removal Tool, save it to your desktop: ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe

  Security update for Windows Vista (KB977165) and Service Pack 2 (KB948465) both continue to update on my computer. I have a Dell E521 with Vista Home Premium 32 bit. I have automatic updates selected. SP2 first updated in June 2009, then once again in the OCT, twice in November and twice in December, and now 3 times here in March, sometimes it is updated twice in the same day. It's 90% success every time. The security update (KB977165) is essentially the same thing. He began successfully updated 9 March 2010 and did all day (literally) since then, except for 2 days. A couple of times more than once a day.

• Windows Vista Service Pack 2 (KB948465) stuck at 83%

  Previously, it failed with the error 800F0829 Code.  Now its stuck at 83%.  I tried to stop, but I don't think it is.  I get a pop up and give permission.  All other updates worked and have been updated.    I tried to look for this error code and I'm stuck.  If you have a solution please include all the details regarding the greater part is all Greek.  I looked at the FAQ but couldn't find one like this.  I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite.  I had to specify the computer running on battery power at the same time because I've temporarily moved my laptop.  But he is now connected and I tried the updates again.
