  • Windows updates won't find updates for Office or any other Microsoft programs I installed and there is no option to enable it in Windows Update settings.

OK, so I just had to re - install Windows 7 on my laptop due to a disk failure (Windows 7 Home Premium SP1) and hit a brick wall with trying to turn on Microsoft Updates instead of Windows updates.

I try to click on the link "Learn more" on the bottom of the page to update on the line "Get updates for other products Microsoft." and it opens just a web page with a graphic telling me to open my Start menu and click on Windows updates.

Catch 22 is that Windows Update has no options for anything other than Windows. He won't find the updates for the office or any of the other Microsoft programs I installed and there is no option to enable it in Windows Update settings.

Exactly what I am missing, and where has Microsoft moved the activation of Microsoft Updates page too, because when I click on the link need me to http://www.update.microsoft.com/windowsupdate/v6/thanks.aspx?ln=en&&thankspage=5 that makes a whole lot of nothing.

    Thank you!

I see that it is a common problem, but I think I've tried everything short of resettlement. (knowing I've watched so many threads I can have lost the wood for the trees)

started with TP-link adapter. After spending hours on the phone with tech support, they suggested to take back to the store to be checked.  Store was lazy and bored me, so I went out with a cisco AE1200.
I uninstalled AVG, disabled firewall. tried to uninstall in safe mode reinstall in safe mode and normal mode. Run the driver updated, windows updates.  Because the connection is disabled and won't not activate.  been to services to switch to automatic, but it won't let me.  After that the office really twisted the knife when he decided to forget what graphics card it wanted to use, so choose nothing.  I spent 20 minutes trying to get this to work yet once and have temporarily solved this problem, but I still have to get the wireless working

  • Windows Vista won't allow me to open my files in its own window

I can't get Windows Vista change to allow me to open my files in their own windows. I was not able to do this since I bought this computer a few months ago. I thought I did something wrong, but I follow the directions to the T and it continues to open only the folders in the same window.  Y at - it something I'm doing wrong? I follow the directions for help and check open in its own window and yet it acts as if I do not change it... I apply and ok and press to apply to all the files and still nothing.

I don't know what are the instructions you followed, so here is a series of instructions on opening the windows, including how open each instance in its separate window: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/91587-open-folder-same-separate-new-window.html.  Read full article and follow ALL these instructions (there are parts you include in your post that are important to make it work - but then again you probably do not understand everything).

In the meantime, to open a specific folder in a new window, you can right click on the file and click on open rather than explore.  This will open the folder in a new window.  It's an extra step, but it is a workaround until you find the answer (if the above did not answer it).

    I hope this helps.

  • Windows Update won't update

    Hi all

I have a computer with a new installation of Windows 7 SP1.  Unfortunately, Windows Update seems to work forever and never gives no results.  So far, I tried the following which seems to be often recommended for problems such as this one:

    (1) install KB947821 update

    (2) install update KB3102810

    (3) execution of the utility to 'fix' WindowsUpdateDiagnostic

    (4) restored to a previous restore point

    (5) installed the driver for my monitor is added towards the end of newspapers

    (6) Ran CCleaner

Here's the log of update of windows.  Far as I can tell he's waiting for something else to happen before she continues to update, but I am unable to say what he expects.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

    Hello

    ·        Have you tried restarting the computer and restart the Windows Update process?

You can try the steps in the article and check if that helps.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/949358

If you are able to restart the computer, run the Windows Update troubleshooting tool and then run updates and check what is happening. To open Windows Update convenience store follow the link below.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/open-the-Windows-Update-Troubleshooter

You will have to perhaps install the updates manually and check if it works very well.

  • Cannot run Windows Update in Vista 64 bit Ultimate. Download popup that Windows Update cannot currently check the updates, because the service is not running.

Windows Vista SP2 from worm 6.0.6002 Build 6002.  KB2675157 Explorer 9.0.8112.  Runing Norton 360 6.2.1.5 (I disabled the two virus checking a firewall).  My problem is that I ran Windows Update and go on a popup message: Windows Update cannot currently check the updates, because the service is not running.  I ran last update of Windows in April and he was properly executed.  I run FixIt 50202 and checked that wuauserv, misiserver, bits, cryptsvc, and workstation are started.  I am able to run updates on all the software outside of windows.  I ran recently updated for Radeon Catalyst Control Center, Safari, Chrome, and various Adobe products.  I don't have another PC with Vista I can compare the registry entries.

    Hello

Method 1: The problem with Microsoft Windows Update is not working: http://support.microsoft.com/mats/windows_update/

Method 2: Try to reset the Windows update components and check to see if the same problem happens: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058

    Method 3 :

Try to set up your computer in a clean boot state, and then check to see if the same problem occurs.

By setting your boot system minimum state helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or Windows 7:
