• A no Windows Update has shown as successful

  I tried to install:

  KB 890830 (Windows malicious removal tool) and
  Ko 905866 (Windows spam filter)

  Today, by using Windows Update.  After having waited 20 minutes and seeing always 0% complete on the installation process on the first KB, I clicked on 'Stop install', and then Windows Update immediately proceeded to the second update (KB 905866) and completed.  No error occurred.

  When I open Windows Update again and went to "update history", I see that both of these KB have been applied, but when I opened the "installed updates", I've seen the other installed.  I clicked on search for updates, but the first KB (890830) don't always appear as available updates.

  I don't know if it has something to with a recent system restore I did.  Yesterday I restored my system to 11 July, the restore completed successfully, but I realized my MSE definitions are completely returned to 28 June (date where I applied a number of Windows updates), and when I tried to shut down windows, it took considerably more time to close.

  I have a laptop old but used very useful - Compaq Presario 2100.  He had wind Xp on it.  I tried a system recovery using the recovery CD something was wrong.  Now, I get the error message.  System does not recognize the CD Rom or hard disk.  I removed the hard drive and use a usb adapter to connect it to another system.  The disk formatted and checked very well use sea Seagate tools.  When I put the drive in the laptop, I get the same error.  The drive is a Seagate 40 GB model ST 94011 A.  Is there anyway to make it bootable from another system, and then reinstall it in the Compaq.  I don't know why it does not recognize.  It does not appear in the bios. No idea what went wrong and how I can not get the drive recognized again.

  This error means that the PC can not find the hard drive (no boot device), it is not be seen in the BIOS.

  You have the error because the last thing that the PC has attempted to boot from was the network card and of course, there no device connected start there either.

  My assumption would be that the drive controller on the motherboard has conked, since you know the hard disk works.  Or the hard drive has an unspecified problem.

  Even if you were able to load the operating system on the drive from another PC, which will not make the hard disk appears in the BIOS.

  Thank you very much for the work you've put into this.  I made the change you suggested making the subkeywords under 'schwartz' to be {name schwartz}.  I don't know who has contributed something, but I think that there are more immediate problem which is mucked up.  As well as the fact that I have several catalogs that I don't know how they were created, I think that the best thing would be to merge all the catalogs into one (it is better to have a single catalog, right?) and delete all the keywords from scratch.

  lysdexic01, I know almost exactly what you describe on my screen of iTunes Store recently updated for Windows 7 64-bit. Only difference is that the icons in the black box are invisible until I move the mouse above them, their location by trial and error. Once activated, the icon remains visible. Each found icon flickers at first, but stops flashing if I pass the mouse over it.

  I think that the store is now functional and useless for those of us experiencing this problem. Other users have reported that their iTunes store screen flickers since they updated iTunes to the latest version, but most did not mention the area big black screen that you and I see.
