Windows Update has stopped working
Recently, I recognized that I have no update for Vista installed since Nov-08; before everything worked. When I try manually to the update, the system tells me to check the updates, it must first install a new update for Windows Update! Then I press the
button, I confirm, and the system tells me that it will download and install the update. Aftzer some time, however, nothing happens when, in particular Windows Update itself only has not shut down and restart, but just the message appears. This is the point where I started, and the process repeats indefinitely without any special message. My understandig is that, for some reason, I couldn't have Windows Update update itslef. Is there some other different means, as for example a simple download, to have the latest version of Windows Update installled on my computer?

Please let know us where I should look for IE tools | Options Internet, etc.
ALT + T + O | Programs (6 7 tabs, from left to right)
================================
Note: You can see the symptoms of an infection of hijackware due these Authentium & Norton or McAfee 'leftovers' were present on the computer for so long. It is possible that VIPRE Internet Security never installed or worked properly.
OK - ALT + T + O given the folder options, so I guess I should have used Internet Options in the Control Panel, who brought up the Internet properties display and tab programs showed IE as default browser.
All attempts to open IE, Firefox or even Outlook Express for that matter, fail, because apparently the boot did not go far enough to negotiate the internet connection, as the double-monitor icon is not shown in the system tray.
Local network connection status shows as OK, but without the traffic through it.
Any attempt to interact with the Internet Options Connection folder system crashes and tries to leave or cancel the result of process in the message "end program rundll32.exe".
That is where she lies.

Windows Update does not work under Vista
Hello! I have Vista Ultimate 64 bit and a few weeks ago, I noticed that my windows updates had stopped working. I followed the instructions to do a repair of my drive, but got "the upgrade is not available. Press Cancel and then select upgrade to a newer version than what you have "." However, there is nothing that gives me this opportunity. How am I supposed to fix it then?
I have a feeling that this happened after a service pack has been installed (3?), but as I put it to the automatic updates I have not noticed exactly when he had ceased. I'm frustrated and very frankly also irritated. I paid a fair bit for Vista Ultimate and I'm basically says my drive is useless. I ran the Microsoft Fix It, and he said he solved the problem, but it didn't. I also did a system restore and that do not also not fixed the problem. The error code I get whenever I have try to do an update is 80070490. I saw a lot of messages from people having this same problem, while searching for a solution, so there's obviously a problem somewhere I would appreciate to help get it sorted please.Thank you and best regards,SharonCannot install updates in Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2
