  • Product key OEM Windows Vista Business on Precision 490

Just bought a Dell Precision 490. It comes with 32-bit Windows 7 HP... The product key for Windows 7 is on the case. With this key, there is a Microsoft Windows Vista Business OEM key. My first question is how do I know if it is a key of 32 or 64-bit of Windows Vista? Or can be used for either (it does not specify the key). My second question is how properly to reinstall Windows Vista. I noticed there are a lot of different people who sell different restart/reinstall/repair disk. Thank you.

Windows OEM product keys can be used to install either 32-bit or 64-bit.

You can ask Dell support (if in the United States, and after a "transfer of property") or use a disc from another system that corresponds to the version of that license is for (Home, Ultimate, etc.):

    support.Dell.com/.../backupcd_form

You can use Retail media, then activate by phone from Microsoft (not Dell) using your product key:

    en.Community.Dell.com/.../3317.2-3-Microsoft-Windows-Vista-Official-ISO-Download-Links-Digital-River.aspx

Just boot on the Windows DVD, delete all partitions that are shown to you, then call install... you will have to install drivers after Windows is installed, but you can ask that once Windows is on.

You must also determine if you have a RAID controller that requires special drivers during installation.  The 490 could use a PERC or SAS RAID 5 card.  You can check the box to see where the disks are wired to and/or check during POST to see if you have a CTRL-C or a prompt CTRL-R, while the loading devices.

  • PC with Windows Vista Business OEMAct COA of second hand

    Hello

I just bought a PC that has a Microsoft COA license sticker attached to it for "Windows Vista Business OEMAct" of second hand. It came without a HARD drive, so I installed my own and want to make sure that the key on the PC is still valid? If I can get my hands on a Vista disk, probably, I can install windows with this key and everything will be fine?
The question I have, is that I can then upgrade to Windows 8 for the $39,99 deal? I don't see why not?

    Hello

You must use the key to see if it is still valid. There is no public list kept.

Hadou no reason why it would not be valid as long as you can not transfer OEM licenses which they were installed on the original machine.

You can contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.

They should do this for a small fee.

Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

HI I have a computer with windows vista business on that key. Apparently, I do not have the original OEM drive but I have a dell windows vista Enterprise drive. the product to activate my acer desktop computer?

    Hello

A manufacturer of recovery disc is designed for a particular brand and computer model; they are not interchangeable.

Here is the link to order the Acer recovery disks:

    http://us-store.Acer.com/RCD/

And if the Acer never included a drive to purchase, you should have a recovery Partition on your hard disk to reinstall Vista to how it was when new.

With an Acer, you press Alt + F10 at startup to start the process of recovery back to new condition.

    Hello

I don't know what you mean in crashes, but I know that this can happen after the standby/hibernation mode, that this sound card is not recognized correctly. To resolve this problem, you must install the hotfix for Microsoft Vista (937077 KB) on the Microsoft network site: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/937077

Just a question: have you noticed this problem since the first day or after a few days of use?

  • Use of the filesystem in Windows Vista Business

I had a neX61 in November last with Windows Vista Business and 120 GB disk space. I installed MS Office Standard 2007 and Visio, the disk of 2 months following its use grew much greated than the volume of data that I have placed on the system. I ran all the checks planned and all is good - no problems.

However I could not always represent 35 + concerts. I downloaded a tool on the web that says basically structure sizes and directory trees and showed that I should have 35 gigs of spare, i.e. If I added the directory sizes, there was a huge amount still free. I couldn't get to the bottom of this.

One day, Outlook 2007 crashed and rebuilds itself, when it rebuilt, suddenly space reappeared. Afterwards, I ran all the diagnosis of MS Outlook with no significant results. During the next 6 weeks, which space recovery file again gone so now its 50Gigs I losyt. I decided to uninstall Outlook, but so far it has not recovered from my disk space. Before that I use a hard reinstall of Vista Business Windoze of stuff over there?

    See you soon

    Andy,

Right now, you have identified the exact problem, hell, I didn't even know this has the value automativcally of backup, the first 25Gigs swallowed the backup, then the next 4 subsequent in swallowed another 5 concerts a moment. Unfortunately, I had several images vmware which did not help matters.

Thanks man, I owe you a virtual beer.

    Hi Mr sang,

Systems on your network are joined to a domain?
If so, they use Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) to get their updates?

If you use WSUS, you should post your question in the forums found here WSUS:
    http://social.technet.Microsoft.com/forums/en-us/winserverwsus/threads

If you do not use WSUS, but your systems are on a domain, you should post your question in the forums Vista IT found here:

If the above do not apply, you find the same update white screen when you run updates under a new profile?
Also, if you connect to a user in safe mode account, you get the same results?

  • Windows Vista Business still don't not patched with SP1 via auto-mises to update or manual updates

Our laptop Fujitsu is installed with Windows Vista Business. We have been used for about 1 year more, get the updates via automatic updates.

I read that Vista has up to SP2. But check the details of the system shows that no service pack has been applied. So I trigger the update via IE-> tools-> Windows Update. He said that "no important updates available.

I think that when you apply SP1, it will move from IE7 to IE8. So, we still have IE7.

Why the service pack is not available for our case?

    Kind regards
    Ben

    A1. Yes.

A2. You are 'safe' for now, as long as the computer kept fully patched to Windows Update otherwise. That being said, there will come a time in the not-too-distant that a computer without SP1 installed will not offer still updates all founded. ~ Robear Dyer (PA Bear) ~ MS MVP (that is to say, mail, security, Windows & Update Services) since 2002 ~ WARNING: MS MVPs represent or work for Microsoft

  • stepupgrade windows vista business Japanese version for windows vista Ultimate edition

Recently, I bought a laptop in the Japan. The operating system is Windows Vista Business Japanese Version. I'm not familiar with the Japanese language and because of that I wanted to change it to English. I had discovered to find the way to put in place, but I found there was no way else to solve except buy a new Windows Vista with English Version or mine upgrade to Windows Vista ultimate. And I want to ask a question:
    1. is there anything else beside what I mentioned above?
    2. If I decided to buy a Step-Upgrade Vista Ultimate DVD Business, should I buy with the same language version with my Vista business, Japanese Version? Or is it fine with Step-setting level Vista Business to ultimate DVD English version anyway?
    3. Please show me how to change the display language after upgrade my Vista to Vista Ultimate!
    3. in the future, if there is a problem that I have to reinstall the OS, this DVD of Step - update allows again?

    Thank you for your attention.
I'm sorry, my English is not good enough, I hope that you will understand my questions.

    Best account.
    Louise

    Change language:

    1. to change your Vista professional Japanese language to English, you can buy a Japanese Vista Ultimate Upgrade disk/license.

Then download the English language through Windows Update as an option Pack.

Vista Ultimate upgrade must be done in the original language Vista came.

    2. your other Option is to buy a FULL Vista Business English version and do a clean install.

    3. If you want to reinstall, you need the original installation of business > Ultimate upgrade > re-download the optional updates in Windows English Language Pack...

    See you soon.
