Computer connects to the network, but not to the Internet, connect to the only local
Hello world
OK, so I have a HP computer with the installed version of Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit. I've had it for almost 2 years now and have had no problems connecting to Internet... until now.
I can connect to networks... both wireless and cable, but I can not get Internet. I used the IP, subnet mask, gateway and server settings DNS to another computer that works with this specific local network just to see what happens... my computer has failed.
Until recently, I could connect to this WiFi connection in a coffee shop, but the last time I tried it didn't work. I've connected to the network but not the Internet. He told me that the DNS server did not. I'm starting to think that something is wrong with my computer.I saw that the solution for some people running the Norton removal tool, however I had uninstalled Norton almost as soon as I got my computer 2 years ago and ran McAfee instead. I don't think that Norton should have an impact on me more.
Is there a solution to this problem... or I'll just have to try everything that is out there?
Thanks for your help!
Hi MomPlaysBass,
Finally, my problem has been resolved - it wasn't my computer after all. The modem may only be connected to a computer. If you want to connect to another computer, you can connect the computer to the modem and then put it back. My computer worked fine after that. Whenever we want to switch between computers, even if I have to reset the modem.
I don't think you have the same problem, but just in case, you can try to reset your modem - it's a button on the back or a small hole that you can reach with a pen... Hold the stylus for about 5 sec or maybe a bit more and then let go. That should reset your modem and might help you with your problem. Your computer should also have created a restore point... If all else fails maybe you can try to get back to the final point where your computer worked.

Able to connect to the Internet, but not be able to access router settings
I can connect to the Internet fine, ping works, but I can't connect to the router settings.
Specifications
- Router IP: 192.168.1.1
- IP address: 192.168.1.150 USING static IP
- Browser: Safari
- Error message: Safari cannot open the page because the server dropped the connection unexpectedly.
- If you need a card, leave a reply!
Hey Harpo1! Try to access the configuration page using a computer connected to the router. If it does not connect to the page, reboot the router and use a different web browser could help. You can also try to temporarily unplug the modem and see if you can access it.

Connected to the internet, but not connected network magic shows
My network is connect to the internet, both wired and wireless. On the compputer connected by magic cable network shows not connected, but I am connected. Unable to print remotely. Router shows connected but the network card is not.
Thank you
After reading your response, I decided to uninstall and reinstall the program. Thought it would be a little easier. I felt that the problenm was that the program had been damaged but hesitate to reinstall it because I downloaded from the internet several years ago and could not find the product key. I finally found the program cisco and the location of the key and now works. Not as sexy but effective.
Thank you once again

Hello
Recently, I brought a Dell with Windows Vista and a Belkin Wireless adapter in my house somewhere else. The computer has never had problems connecting to wireless internet on the other networks, however since the move I was not able to access the internet. Sometimes the network shows only a local connection and not Internet and other times, the network has a strong signal, a network identified and even an internet connection, but when I open any browser, it is only able to load the Google homepage and I cannot navigate anywhere else. I turned off all firewalls and even uninstalled all 3rd party software protection. I checked all my browser settings and made sure they detect automatically the IP settings and proxy settings. In other words everything seems in good shape, but I still have no navigation capability. Any ideas?
It turns out that I had to remove all the old Wireless USB software that had been used previously (there had been other versions of Belkin and Linksys). I then used the computer from my friend to download suitable driver on the Belkin site for the internet adapter USB I used and BAM.

Hello.
I use a Toshiba laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit.
I just have a modem and use a router. I have a network cable (cat 5) connected to my laptop and the modem. I have log-on internet and it connects. But when I open Google Chrome, IE9 or Firefox I can not load a web page. Google mentions something about the DNS cannot be found and DNS_Probe_Finished_No Internet.Frefox says server not found.
I click on the Menu start - Connect To - I am logged in. I already typed my password in the command prompt and appropriate the pppoe connection/address (I use ADSL).
I talked to my ISP and we tried to do certain things. But nothing works. On their end, it shows that I am connected. But I can't browse the internet. We tried to have the DNS and IP address for ipv4 set to obtain automatically and I put 2 numbers of DNS in manually once the settings have been changed to the favorite servers and DNS auxiliary, or worked.
Using command prompt, the DNS has been emptied. It did not help. The modem has been reset the ISP location. I also recreated and set up a new network connection.
My office is using the same pppoe information. I can freely browse the internet and I use Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit. I was also shown to be connected simultaneously with both machines, but that the Office can go.
I do not have Windows Update the laptop since on April 2016. It has not been used and the battery was empty. I tried to turn off the laptop several times, but nothing works.
Y at - it suggestions to solve this problem? At that time perhaps a re - install will work.
System Restore worked. I will run the updates and see what happens.
I think it was a program that I uninstalled in programs and features.

I can connect to the internet, but not to my home network
I have a PC running Windows XP SP3, which is connected to a Linksys WRT300N router. I have access to the internet. I can not connect to my home network; don't know what happened. all (3) computers are set to the same workgroup name. I can't find anywhere in the network settings for WinXP that relates my network name. Help!
Thanks for any help you can provide.
John
I guess that the other two computers are working properly and that it can network together and that the only problem is the XP machine. I'm also assuming that this problem persists when the firewall was disabled (including hidden like the one in the Cisco VPN client). I also assume you mean by "is no longer connect to my home network" that you can't see other computers in your network neighborhood. See if this article helps you:
"You can't see the other computers in the workgroup on the network on a Windows XP computer"

Original title: connection problem
I'm unable to access my computer (windows 8) with my microsoft account. The password works for the connection to outlook on the internet, but not the computer.
The message I get when trying to connect is simply that I cannot connect you at this time and that I should follow a link to reset the password - what I've done without result. The computer is connected to the internet.
Hello
Thanks for posting your query on the Microsoft Community.
With the publication of the description, I understand that you are unable to access your computer using Microsoft password account on the machine Windows 8. I will certainly help you get this problem.
I would be grateful if you could help me with more information:
1. Since when you are facing this problem?
2. What is the exact error you receive by accessing the computer?
I would say to you follow the suggestions provided by Cliff_N responded on 7 December 2012 in the below thread Microsoft:
Important information: When you use system restore to restore the computer to a previous state, the programs and updates that you have installed are removed.
Note: When updating, the applications you have installed Web sites and DVDS is deleted. The applications provided with your PC and applications that you have installed in the Windows store will be resettled. Windows puts a list of apps removed on your desktop after you refresh your PC.
For more information, you can consult the Microsoft article.

Windows 8 worked well without problems. So I think some updates were automatically installed and now none of the 3 browsers work. Network utilities show always the computer is connected to the internet, but the speed tests it does not at all. Our other computer with Windows 8 ceased to be able to access the internet at the same time.
I tried to restore to a previous restore point, but it is still not possible to access the internet.
Thank you!
After making back all Microsoft updates and spend 4 hours on the line with the support of Microsoft, we have reduced to eSet having a service that forbade access to the internet, even if we have disabled the firewall. Stopping this service restored internet access.
eSet has been marked as compatible on different Web sites, but check on eSet they revealed there are questions.
Initially things worked but eSet must have updated something that caused problems.

Hello
1. are you able to use with other applications that connect to the Internet?

3. should we come up with any specific Web site?
4. what version of Internet Explore do you use?

I suggest you follow the methods listed in order of appearance in the following Microsoft KB article:
