  I have Windows 7 Pro x 64 SP1.

  Usually I have the taskbar large icons poster and I never combine the buttons on the taskbar.

  I have 6 icons pinned in the taskbar.

  Three of them (so the other three are OK), started all of a sudden (after years without problems), windows does not display the icon but a generic. Programmes are: Notepad, prompt command and Windows explore.

  If I switch to display small icons in the taskbar, the three icons pinned in question are then displayed correctly but once I return to large icons they become generic.

  Regardless of what size of icon is defined, when I click on one of the three pinned icons that the corresponding program opens properly and the correct icon appears next to the name of the program. When I close the program, the pinned icon: 1) correct (when the value of small icons) or 2) generic windows icon (when the value of large icons).

  I tried a bunch of stuff without success to restore the correct large icons: rebuild the icon cache by deleting the IconCache.db. United Nations-pinning/re-pinning; PIN rather than a shortcut exe files; change the size of icons and affecting the default value; SFC/SCANNOW and similar...

  Hi, what happened about 10 different icons for about 3 months. I don't know what is wrong, because in the folder icon which displays the content, the icon works correctly but once in the folder or the program files exe, or on the desktop, this is what it looks like. It is a problem with about 10 ish different files, and most of my icons work well.

  

  Your IconCache.db file is possibly corrupted. You can safely remove this file as Windows 7 reboot will construct a new default value. With hidden and system files enabled, click Start or press the Windows key and type this into the text box search programs and files :

  ... then click on . Delete the IconCache.db file, and then restart the computer.

  It of great that you've made a video of your problem, most other users don t do that, but it makes history. :)

  In any case, it is really hard to say what part is causing this problem. Either it's internal display itself or graphics card. Easiest way to check this is connect an external monitor and check what is happening.

  So if it was a normal external VGA monitor image it seems to be the graphics card. This means that the motherboard must be replaced and this can be done from an authorized service provider. Then get in touch with the guy and ask for help.

  What is your location.  The reason why I ask this is that your keyboard is set to the standard UK layout.  Looks like you have the keyboard for the U.S. keyboard layout.  Shift + 2 is the "on the UK keyboard, @ on the U.S. keyboard."

  To change the keyboard settings you must go to "Control Panel", then "regional and language options".  The first page allows you to set the number format and character relative to your location and also set the location.  Check these and modify accordingly so badly.  You want to then go to the second 'languages' tab and click on the button "Details".  Here you can set the default keyboard.  This changes if necessary.  This should, hopefully restore your keyboard to the presentation that you want.

• drop-down menus are not displayed correctly
