Hi there, my uncle gave me his laptop which is more connected to the internet. He was very well 6 weeks ago but downloaded something and has not worked since. He thinks that it's a microsoft vista download, but I'm not so sure.

I can connect to my wireless network, but cannot access the internet, even when I put the cable cat 5 in.

Looked at solutions online, and none of them worked. I also can't find the laptop of my own computer, so I can scan the hard drive, but I can't access to this.

Is this likely to be a microsoft update that went wrong or a virus? Advice and assistance are appreciated. I recently downloaded service Pack2 on it from my network, which was strange I couldn't get direct access to the internet.

    Thanks David

Hi guys, I managed to fix this now. Found the answers who carried out a search on the forums.

  • New updates of Windows since 06/11/12 is originally Vista does not connect to Internet Explorer

I have a desktop with Vista CAREB.  It has always worked well until about June 11, 2012.  Now it does not connect to Internet Explorer. It says it is connected to the internet and that has been verified by our server.  Tried everything and eventually restored it and no problem.  Then the next day, same thing and restored.  Next day same thing so I disabled all updates and no problem.  What new update windows made in the last few days which is the cause and what can I do?

    Thank you

    Hi Judy,.

We cannot verify that Windows Update is causing the problem, I suggest to install the Windows updates one by one and make sure that Windows Update is causing the problem.

  • Windows Vista does not connect to the internet.

Vista all tried to sign on the internet, but not

It's SP2.  I found another virus scanner and removed.  I loaded the good Explorer and copied in the folder and the Vista Service Pack II and it will still not on the internet.  Open the windows, and then closes (45 seconds).  I checked the ethernet driver (have high speed 10/100 NIC) he said it was very good.  I took it and when I started (after that I replaced the files in Explorer) I thought that it can load and discover the right path (both).  It loaded and loaded the ethernet, it says its ok ok but the icon on the destop says not found network connection.  Therefore, the Explorer and the link between the Explorer and the card ethernet, I guess.  Have been on the internet on the D drive on the same computer and it market.  It seems that he is a total windows problem.  I need the auditor system files, it's an activated installation of Vista SP2, so I should be able to do.  Could someone send it to me.  I think I did everything everyone tried to suggest to it solve this problem.  Oh, I forgot to mention I made a backup copy of a couple of years and it was made with the copy of Windows utility, then we might be able to use it to restore it.  It worth the try if you know how to load it.  guitarone

  • Windows messenger does not connect to internet

Hello, I'm on vista Home premium and have changed my router modem. My office has accepted the router and messenger works very well. However, the laptop will only sign not to messenger and when I go in the properties and connections, it shows that messenger is not connected to the internet and that the computer is connected via a wired connection. (not correct, it is wireless)

I tried to change this without success. I also tried ot uninstall Windows Live so that I can re - install, hoping that he would then recognize the network parameter, again without success.

    Can someone advise please.

Assuming that you can always connect to your computer in normal mode:

Run a check of the filesystem to find corrupted files and repair them if possible.

Start button > Search box type cmd > look up, do a RIGHT click on cmd.exe > click run as
    Administrator
    > in this window type cmd black and white, on the
flashing fast sfc/scannow > press the ENTER key.
Note: there is a space between
    'sfc' and ' / '.
To sit and wait. It will take time.
When finished, exit the cmd window.
    Reboot (restart your computer)

After that, check if you can run the computer as well as to access the IE.

Unlike XP, Vista is not automatically mapping/connecting to my WiFi network at startup folders.  Every time I have start or restart, Vista does not connect to them, and I have to manually complete the task.  All folders that I want to connect to are marked "Reconnect at logon."  How to get Vista to connect to these folders when connecting as it is supposed to?

    Hi Peters4,

I have some questions I need to ask:

Once have connected you to the computer, you still see the disks with a red X on them or they have gone completely?
If they have the red x, connects by double-clicking on them?
If you are prompted for a password?
You map drives using an IP address instead of a name of sharing?
Are you using the built in Windows Vista wireless client or other software to connect to the wireless network?

You could try the following drive mapping and see if that fixes the problem:

    • Press Start.
    • Type CMD in the Search box and press ENTER.
    • Right click on cmd.exe and select run as administrator.

At the command prompt, use the following command:

net use x:-\\nom_ordinateur\nom_partage\ / persistent: Yes

(where x is the drive letter you want to assign.)

Make sure that Windows is updated appropriately that there have been several USB updates.

1 check that the driver letters for them, for a player, if the drive of the default drive letter is changed, what is happening.
Mine was h: I added a device that took H: and the player stopped. So I put it back to H: and the other

Don't forget to remember the MP3 must be set to the PSG to sync with WMP, and meteorological service of Canada to copy and delete files

If no joy follow these steps:

You may need a powered hub. (all the USB ports on your computer are not powered, often only 2)

    Try these:

    Make a Restore Point

Control Panel - Device Manager - click in the empty area - VIEW - show hidden devices

Here, your devices are the MP3 player.

Now look everywhere EXCEPT the USB controllers for your devices (cannot be found) and if you find
It RIGHT CLICK and UNINSTALL all.

now go to the USB and UNINSTALL ALL controllers in the category, but the category itself.

    APPLY/OK

    RESET

This refresh battery USB and hopefully it will allow the unit to install. (You may need a powered hub)

Here is the similar procedure under XP, Vista is the same, except that we need clear specific devices, as appropriate.

Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.

When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.

See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.

Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...

Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.
